Re: These Days
Didn't actually make a lot of bags overall, especially compared to previous years, but 4 stitch 32's are dreadful. Not sure how anyone stays up on 32's, way too much cutting. I've never heard of 4 stitch 32's. I thought there were only 2 and 3 stitch varieties. Three stitches is certainly hard enou...
Re: Fanzine
I made an oversized 32 panel for Dustin and since it was a new pattern for me I kept the prototype for myself. Dustin only wanted his filled to 70 g but I cranked mine up to 95. It's made of ultrasuede soft, so it's still breaking in, but I know it's going to be a good one.
Re: Toolman
Yeah, he's the one that first got me thinking about purchasing one. The style he uses tends to run higher than my price range, so I went for something a little cheaper/simpler to get started. I picked up this one specifically: https://www.target.com/p/ignite-by-spri-core-board-abdominal-trainers-blu...
Re: Toolman
I've already talked to Ken about the Top Post Painting, but just so the rest of you know, I found the interactive article fascinating. I used to have a poster of Hokusai's The Great Wave off Kanagawa hanging in my bedroom, so to learn more about him and the context of his work was really cool. Footb...

Wow! That response from Ted is wild. It looks like it's been deleted, though he still doesn't seem very supportive.
I haven't watched it all the way through yet, but I tend to trust Matt to be thoughtful about the content he puts out, so seeing that sort of reaction was very surprising.

Re: NYJ 2021 (online)
Such an amazing turnout. Other than worlds, I've never seen anything like it for an online comp. And Ryan did a great job with the videos. The shred off compilation made me want to watch some of the old VHS videos because their often in the style of the skateboard videos I used to watch as a kid. It...

Re: TMNT Have Nothing On This Shredder
Been trying to get back with Footbag making, but burnt myself out last year. I've been feeling that lately. I stitched a lot over the last year (wish I had kept track of how many). Still, I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying it. It's the perfect activity for when I want to turn my brain ...
Re: Toolman
Glad to hear your thesis plan is coming together. Do you mostly do fieldwork? Working in Utah sounds great! I used to do more fieldwork, mostly oceanography and a little stuff around California, but my postdoc work is all lab-based now. Yeah, I'm entirely field-based at the moment with a substantia...
Re: Toolman
Yeah man. When I came back I was glad to see you were still posting regularly. I can't even remember the last time we were in the same place. Check your PMs when you get a chance. So it's a new year. I made some progress on personal goals in 2020, but not as much as I'd have liked. However, overall ...

Re: Canberra, Australia via SCL - Daniel Boyle
I've noticed you posting frequently on instagram. Very glad to see it. It's cool that you have so many skateparks nearby. I live in a fairly rural area so there aren't many places for me to bring my board and mess around. I end up bringing it to the tennis court with me when I play footbag. Still fu...

Re: Starting over
Great blog! I remember seeing your posts way back when i was still active on modified. Glad to see you're playing. I really loved that trick you were trying a few posts up (butterfly gyro inside). It reminds me of jughandle and similar tricks. Have you gotten any closer? I might add it to my list of...
Re: Fanzine
Hey, Ken. Long time no see. Sorry it's been such a tough year in footbag and I hope your ankle recovers soon. And I was never lucky enough to meet Rippin', but I really wish I had. I'd gotten a sense of his greatness, both as a player and as a human, from all the various posts that have been made si...

I like that you include the session highlights in your footblog. I'll try to take some notes on my next few sessions and see if there's anything worth posting.
I too have been working a lot on toes. I was doing the exact same thing with ATWs this time last year. Glad to see it!

Re: Canberra, Australia via SCL - Daniel Boyle
Thanks for putting that together. It's spurred me to brainstorm ways to make online competitions a bit more inviting for newer/more casual players.
Re: Toolman
TJ, I'll be trying to update this somewhat regularly. It'll be tougher in the winter months. Danny, I'll certainly post video when I get the chance to record something meaningful again. All my best footage comes in the late summer/early fall, and by late December I feel like I'm rusty again. Winter ...

Hey Danny. It's nice to see people still hang around here from time to time.
I appreciate the amount to time you spend on playing, writing about, and posting footbag. I'll make a point to check out the newsletter and look through your blog. Thanks for doing what you do!

Re: Toolman
Woo! Been a while. Hey all, hope you're well. Since my last post above (2013), footbag and life have been all over the place, but each year was an improvement on the last. Quick life update: Started experiencing significant career- and lifestyle- related existential anxiety in 2013, went back to col...

Re: Joulukalenteri 2020
Wooo! Best time of the year! Solid first video. Love the shred, the music, the scenery, and DEFINITELY the drone footage. I'm probably wrong, but the only other person I've seen use a drone for filming footbag was Pavel, and it looked great. Definitely a lot to explore with that. Also, great first L...
