Edit: Not to rip on your camera, or your pictures (Because they are pretty good pictures.), but they weren't really in that great of focus. I mean, good pictures, but I don't see the quality Pete's describing. Its not like I have a super good macro lense, its pretty damn good though for 100 dollars...

They aren't gradients. It is just very tedious work. Trust me it took a long time and I made it in MS Paint and like BenRea said I might not win.
