I cut the last two eyelets off of my lavers yesterday, and it's a big relief to me. It caught on my pixies sometimes, also on datw's, but it's definitely not bad to cut them out. Adapting happens pretty fast, and if you're doing what you should, you shouldn't need the toe box anyway.
