Re: bad injury luck!
Didn't you judge one of the events? Would love to hear your perspective on that experience! Yeah, I judged Sick 3 for Open, Intermediate, and Women's. I went in with the understanding that people would expect execution to be judged very precisely, so I put in 110% effort to slow-mo frame-by-frame e...

Re: Canberra, Australia via SCL - Daniel Boyle
Wow, lots of 5s!
Your Worlds shred was incredibly impressive, btw! You're such a consistent player with lots of huge tricks! Just hitting a bunch of 5s sounds really fun too

Re: Kankeri Japan
It's my fiip in-out that gets me most of the time. I think it's way harder than it seems it should be, but also really good because you are training on all the different ways in one go. This is my exact problem too! I started as a stronger in-to-out player, but these days out-to-in is so much easie...
Re: Fanzine
Great thoughts! Very interesting about Taishi! I'm not sure I saw the documentary you mentioned though, can you link it? This would have been a fun Worlds for me to compete in, but I was injured, and even though I had just started to play again I didn't want to push myself because I knew I would re-...
Re: Olav
Hey Olaf! So great to see you posting here again! It sounds like you plan to start playing again? I'm so excited for that. My fiance and I have been meaning to visit Vancouver for a while now, maybe we can connect in the near future :) Great to see your professional work too, though I remember you s...

Re: Starting over
Great painting!
Also, love the toe tricks -- incredibly smooth form on everything! You make it look way too easy

Re: Muffinman
Appropriate, thanks Ken! Haven't played since my last post. Started getting nerve pain down my leg, like sciatica (though my physiotherapist nor back specialist referred to is as such). Hoping to try playing soon. Got a box of tapes from Mathieu GM the other day, originally from Yacine, so convertin...

Badges are super fun!!
Re: Fanzine
Thanks for your thoughts on BAP a bunch of posts back. Great reasoning and insights! Also interesting to read your continuing thoughts on Worlds. It's an interesting year for competition. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5db7168521bb7642d02ed3fd/1577344833464-8U3837NZZSEUS6ZHTGAN/ke17Zw...
Re: Muffinman
Yeah, I could use better balance. I wish I could slow down my game somehow. Just be less spastic and be more smooth. Anyway, had another solo session. Was super stiff to start, but warmed up after a while. Oof, my body takes so much longer to recover now that I'm getting pretty close to 40! I'm supe...

Re: Kankeri Japan
I was thinking about writing this progress down in modified, and if it could affect placement at Worlds. I mean, if a judge who frequents Modified read our blogs, they would know the degree of effort put into a routine, whether it was 'just a safety routine', and other possible things. Honestly, I ...
Re: Fanzine
Great video! So many huge tricks, it's nuts! I think Worlds this year will be exciting. Everyone will be pushing and hitting stuff that wouldn't normally be able to, and for a spectator that should be a lot more fun to watch! I am curious how BAP induction(s) will work. Though who can argue that Jak...

Re: Starting over
Nice, it's great to be able to build a game and style from almost scratch. Sounds fun!
Re: Muffinman
Thanks guys. Double spins aren't back yet. I tried a few times during session #5 (3 sessions ago) and it was too sloppy. I'm still working on just getting single spins back consistently, lol. Jammed with Alex today. It was sooo hot out. He said that there was a heatwave warning and that people were ...
Re: Muffinman
Thanks guys. Yeah, weather has been great! The new guy here, Mark, has been around since last season... well, almost 2 seasons ago I guess. But it's great that he's coming out and is so motivated! RECOVERY SESSION #6 I missed Sunday's session (I think it was Alex and Mark) and had been dying to play...
Re: Muffinman
new guy ? wait those exist? Lol. Technically I guess he's not new anymore, so maybe not... Apparently our other "new guy" contacted Alex recently, out of the blue after a long absence, so that's also neat. He's an older new guy, but I think this newer one has trained harder and has more tricks/cont...

Re: Starting over
Your barfly form is so choice! Watching the first one, I was, like, “Oooh!” Very Tom Mosher (who gets barfly compliments from everyone!) I also just wanted to say that I have the same form on whirls and I also always hated it! If you figure out the secret to changing to more horizontal, I’d love to ...
Re: Fanzine
I have no interested in participating in competition or watching most of it, but reading your thoughts on strategy is pretty interesting! I'm curious how much thought less-seasoned competitors put into these same calculations
