Re: Israel Footblog - Training program
Last week I started the new round of training regime, and quickly realized that I bit more than I could chew. Pdx mirage drill didn't go as hot as I wanted, and 70 tiltless was harder than I expected. I chose 20 more tiltless every round because a) I'm an idiot b) It didn't sound too horrible, c) I'...

Re: Upgrading modified
I'm happy to announce that the functionality I planned for the initial release is done. I really rushed the development (all those promises to stop and write tests were hardly fulfilled), so I'm sure there are plenty of bugs. I could really use help in finding them. Just post them on this thread. If...

Video search by title or players Added auto quoting when replying to a personal message Personal messages sent in reply are collected together to form a conversation. Currently no functionality other than a database representation. Added "Mark as unread" button for the personal messages drop down (t...

Re: New Modified progress report
Added notification on new user registration. Also, worked a lot on video meta data. One feature I'm pretty excited about, as I think it would be very hard to pull it off on any solution other than a tailor made site: Tagging players on videos. When you post a video, you can list who the players are....

Re: New Modified progress report
I'm only upgrading the site on the new location now. The old location is not compatible with the new one so I had to choose. New on the site: Admins can give/revoke other admins' status Redirects work better now (e.g. if you write a comment on someone's blog, you'll be redirected to the blog, not to...

Re: New Modified progress report
Thanks, I totally plan on following through. Yep, the first hosting was really expensive.. I think the amazon hosting will be a lot cheaper. They charge according to usage, so if the site gets a lot of traffic, it'll cost more but it should also automatically increase capacity so stuff will continue...

Re: Upgrading modified
The new hosting(http://modified-env-g78w6hekix.elasticbeanstalk.com/) is much better than the current hosting (http://tranquil-dusk-9441.herokuapp.com/), so I'm thinking of shutting the current hosting down to avoid confusion and duplication. Is it ok if I delete everything that's already there, or ...

Re: Israel Footblog - Training program
Yeah the program is good in many ways. I really like coming to practice knowing exactly what I'm going to do, almost minute by minute. I even warm up the same way each time in order to reduce variables from session to session. My only problem is that I feel guilty neglecting other tricks I worked on...

Re: Upgrading modified
Feature suggestion, basically by Matthew from another thread:
That each user can select what type of content to see on the front page (toggle on/off videos, posts, blog posts, maybe even select posts from specific blogs)

Re: New Modified progress report
Thanks! The front page only has 1 big wall with posts and videos, and if you want to see only videos or blogs, just click on the menu. I can add a content filter on the main wall if ppl want it. I couldn't sleep tonight, so instead of sleeping I implemented infinite scroll and ajax for kudos giving/...

Re: New Modified progress report
Ad support is such a small revenue that I wouldn't even bother. If, however the site generates some traffic, especially of newcomers, shops like world footbag and freedomfootbags may cough up some dough to help us stay alive and in return we'd help drive quality traffic to them.

Re: New Modified progress report
As written elsewhere, editing and privacy option for posts are implemented. I think this is all the core functionality, and to make the site less annoying to use, I'll need to make most things work with ajax. Next problem to solve is hosting. There are two options: Easy to set up yet expensive month...

Just like facebook, when you click on it. Since I don't have ajax support yet, it will only go away next time the page reloads.

Re: Upgrading modified
Fixed both issues, thanks.
I also added an option in the cog menu posts/videos/blog items where you can change its privacy. Something that is private is never shown to unregistered users.

Don't post too seriously there yet, it's still on a development database, and I don't know if at some point I'll have to delete everything..

Re: Upgrading modified
Thanks! I'm glad that my efforts aren't being overlooked. These features should also come with "priority", so we know which things we want to be developed before others, as obviously, I can't do everything at once. On the front page I also want to have 'stickies', like admin announcements, upcoming ...

Re: Israel Footblog - Training program
Thanks! I always thought that I was one of those who DIDN'T skip the basics, but I really had no clue how wrong I was until the program. I wish years ago someone had grabbed me and said "No, no pixies until you finish your bops!", but without a program I doubt I'd have the mental discipline required...

Also, added anti spam measures in the registration form.
