Flash Game featuring Honza Weber

Post by FlexThis » 02 Jun 2011 08:31

I know Honza announced this months ago, but I thought I would officially re-announce it since I was unable to do so formally at the time.

Introducing Shred Session"S" featuring Honza Weber!

It has always been my intent to create a better version of Shred Sessions Original Recipe. Thanks to the help of Honza Weber, (who btw kicked out the video for this flash game in under 2 weeks!!!) I was able to make that intention a reality. It was super fun to create and I had hoped it would spark greater interest from the community. It would be nice to see more Footbag players step up to be apart of this game as additional characters. What better way to be immortalized in footbag, than as a footbag player in a FREE online footbag game!!!

~Enjoy!

Very well done, but I totally remember playing this a while ago. What's new in this version?

I've barely tried the new one. I couldn't quite figure out the controls...

I vaguely remember having the same problem with the old game about 12 years ago, but getting over my inital troubles and then also getting pretty addicted and pretty good. I remember some other shredders who were also clearly hooked on the game -- they had lots of high-scores up on the scoreboard. This was way before the on-line forums and shredders weren't able to communicate as easily, so seeing your friends' scores up on Shred Session at Blurry World was almost like a precursor to the Modified Forum...

I also remember thinking that the original Shred Session actually helped me in my real freestyle -- it helped me mentally by shifting my thought-processes - it helped me to link tricks better. Before Shred Session, I did alot more of "trick > BOP > BOP > trick > BOP > trick > BOP > etc".
Playing Shred Session alot, linking harder tricks with no BOPs in-between was as easy as pushing some buttons, and doing a bunch of that made me realize that I could also do more of that for real -- I began to link my harder stuff without BOPs more frequently because of Shred Session.

On the other hand, now older, out-of-shape and out-of-practice, once again I'm back to "trick > BOP > BOP > trick..."

Getting started has always been this games main flaw... Once you figure out how to hit tricks, then it just becomes a matter of memorizing what to hit as opposed to actually playing the game.

The tricky part (especially with R Clipper), is that you have to type in your next move AS the first move is being performed. The entire sequence of arrows has to be entered BEFORE the bag makes contact with a stall.

What makes this version different from the previous one is the time limit, special combos, and dropless endings. Of course the graphics are a PLUS.

As a debug note, it appears that Blizzard cannot be clicked on to execute the move like any of the other moves can. So far, I've only been able to reproduce the scenario with Blizzard. All other moves can be clicked on for execution. Blizzard can be typed in (^^^) and it will work, but the clicking is disabled for some reason (something array related? no coincidence with it being the last trick in that series).

Very nice game!
