Heheh its funny that our government is constantly reminding us that our role in Iraq is very important and that we cant bring our troops home because we are so vital to stability in Iraq, and people in America dont even know we have an army

Not poking fun at anyone, just a funny observation.

Funny indeed.

What isn't funny is that it's part of the reason why neither of our country's will ever suceed in bring peace to Iraq. No one even knows or cares about the committment the troops both nations soldiers are providing.

Heh, I've only heard of a few European countries, Canada, and the US fighting in Iraq, lol.

Oh, and as I'm sure you all know... Bush (obviously) vetoed the bill to bring troops home by Oct. 1st. I mean, it was obvious, but actually seeing it happen pisses me off even more than the fact that I knew it was going to happen. And there's no fuckin' way we're going to get a 2/3 vote to overthrow the veto... Fuckin' republicans.

I personally think the bill was just a publicity stunt, to make the Democrats look better. To make an official statement that they do not support the war must be really good for DFL numbers...

Seriously though, we (the citizens) should be more informed on what's going on in the war. I mean.. I only have to go off what I've heard from people I know, and the guys in my unit that came back from Iraq last year. I'd bet that less than 5% of my school knows that there's more than 3 countries allied with the US in Iraq.

What's the death count for Australian soldiers so far?

US death count is 3,332 as of last week's suicide bombing that killed 9 soldiers, and injured 20, and 1 severely injured Iraqi citizen. Deadliest attack on US forces in 14 months.

That's bullshit. Yeah, there's been 25,000 wounded. However they cleverly put in "Dead or Wounded" with the Dead in front. First response to an average reader is, "25k dead!?" No... 3,500 dead, and alot more wounded. This war is not THAT bad, for christ sake. I mean yeah, it's the most pointless war ever, but it's no where near as bad as any of our past major wars.

I've seen pictures of Canadian troops in Iraq. SSG Berg (recruiter) has a photo of the Mortar Platoon in D CO. 2-135 INF Division with 2 Canadian troops in Iraq. Maybe Canada's not involved, anymore. But I've seen pictures of them there a couple years ago. (Pictures are that old neway.)

True, but when someone says democratic, I think democratic capitalists. When someone says socialism, I think democratic socialists.

So I guess I should have worded my question differently.

Is Australia Socialist, or Capitalist.

(Thanks Dave.)

Aw, I don't remember how to do the quote thing. Where'd whoever got the "3,500 dead" get that from. A month or two ago it was all over the news "celebrating?" (sorry, can't think of another word) that we reached the 5,000 mark.

Oh yeah, and Australia's probably better...... where else do birds put there head in the sand and there ass in the air? Jokes and jokes and jokes, please don't kill me pretty girls. I've been chillin with some british nukkas for a bit.
