The bottom line is that the results are published, scientists make careers by proving other people wrong, and nobody is putting out data on the published results.

When somebody can use these, hand selected, creatively parsed, and out of context bits of information to publish a paper that refutes the data then maybe there will be a story here.

Go ahead. Be famous. Use this inside information to go back to their papers and prove them wrong.

Big business has BILLIONS of dollars for a scientist that can prove they don't need to be ecologically responsible. Use these emails to poke a hole in the theory and be rich. Go ahead, do it before someone else. It should be easy right, you already know the data is faked right ?

Call me when somebody steps up to claim the easy money. Otherwise, the science stands, and someone is creating a smoke screen and placing the health of the human race in jeopardy.

Well said.

There's a good debate that discusses the topic a lot here;

http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/ ... 772906.htm

Although I'm a little concerned that I have a bias in thinking that Monbiot smashes Pilmer in this. It's good that he just sticks to the same points, but it's a shame there isn't a much longer time so all of Pilmer's claims can't be addressed.

I particularly found the argument about volcanoes amusing, paraphrased like this;

"There are hundreds of underwater volcanoes whose emissions aren't measured and I can tell you specifically how much those unmeasured volcanoes emit."

This leads on to another amusing argument from climate change deniers. The world isn't warming but if it is then it's not caused by CO2 but if it is it's not caused by human emissions of CO2.

Phil Morrison put me on to this excellent series of videos explaining the science of climate change. Number 6 is about "climategate."

I personally believe Global Warming is real, but even if you don't, why shouldn't you help the environment?
