CANADA footbag jersey

Hey Canadians. What do you think about having your very own team Canada jersey to wear at tourneys, sessions, and around the house? I'm pretty good at Graphic design and illustration, and feel I could make something kick-ass for us! At the next World's it would be great to be able to pick out the Canadain talent in vids and on stage by their matching shirts.

Would you wear it? Has this been tried before? Is there a similar project in the works? What would you like to see in a Canada jersey? What style of jersey do you like best? Do you want your name on the back? Do you think someone other than me should design it?

Should every Canadian player be able to rock a Jersey, or just the one's we want to represent our country? (I'll make just one for Jorden)

Please answer some of these questions or tell me what you think. Once the discussion gets going, I can come up with some rough designs for us to look at.

I was working very hard on this project before World's this year.

I couldn't pull together a jersey source in enough time to make them.

I have also learned to screen print so if you make the graphics I can print them.

hmm.. that's an idea.

For sure Tom! How far did you get with the design? Do you have anything to show? Screen printing isn't our only option. We should think about embroidered patches, and other techniques that I'll look into.

I think Mike is the perfect guy for the job. You underplay your design skills, they are amazing. I think with your designs and a good producer (ie not just a basic silkscreen) the shirts would be fantastic. I would like to see names on the back of the jerseys for sure.

Maybe we should continue this thread on the super-secret, Canada-only sub-forum. That way, the other countries won't steal our ideas! See you there! In this thread, we can talk about ideas that we WON'T be doing, to confuse the Europeans.

Here are a few random thoughts:

I think the design could look traditional. We could bacically lift the team Canada hockey jersey and add a footbag logo and voila! Hockey itself is such a well-known Canadian symbol that going with a hockey-style jersey is not a bad idea.

The Jersey will need a logo. Now that I think about it, this discussion should be about what would make a good team Canada logo. Add the logo to a shirt and you have a jersey.

There are a few Canadian symbols to play with visuallly for our logo. Eg. the silhouette of a footbagger inside a maple leaf, or an image of an inukshuk doing a clipper. What else do we have to play with? Beavers. Moose. Totem poles. Polar bears. Ice. Beer. Hockey. Mounted police. (I wanna see a mountie shredding!) Lumberjacks...

Ok that settles it. I'm going to draw a drunken Mountie shredding on a frozen lake, in front of a polar bear perched on top of a totem pole, which is being chopped down by a lumberkack. We have our logo. End of discussion.

Can you think of a canadian jersey that isn't red and white, and has maple leaves all over it? I guess all I can picture in my head is the world junior hockey shirts.

Canada may sound like a great place, Jessmon. But remember; we're all freezing cold right now, and no two footbag players are closer than 3,000km from eachother.

One other consideration is price. Check out www.outfitmyteam.com. They can make us any kind of wild design we desire (click on 'sublimated jerseys' and 'showcase' to see some posibilities). But would you pay 50 or 60 bucks for yours?

I think something that could be important for this is that the shirt not be cotton or a regular shirt.

What you need is true jersey material. I dunno what it's called, but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about and explains better.

EDIT: After looking at the site you linked to, it looks like you're looking at hockey jerseys? Wouldn't those be 1. too hot 2. too big 3. too expensive?

I've been looking into Roller hockey jerseys. I think that may be the way to go. They are much lighter and have breathable porthole mesh on the sides and underarms.

I think the potential to play in these jerseys should be a priority. Yes I am willing to spend $50/60/70 for a team canada jersey with my name on the back. I dont care to have a number on the back though.

True, hockey style may not be the way to go. Obviously, a baggy shirt would be hard to play in, and hockey shirts usually have long sleeves. I'm looking into soccer and cycling jerseys too - but I like the hockey look.

The hockey look is definitely good, but I don't really feel like swimming in my jersey. I'd want something that's nice and tight (and accentuates my curves). Soccer jerseys are basically key. I'm so down for buying a team canada footbag jersey tho. SO down.

Yes, I'd spend up to $100 dollars on a jersey, and name on the back is surely key.

That said, red and white is probably the best way to go. Maybe Canadian flag motif, with a white stripe down the middle and sleeves/little bit of torso being red. I like the idea of a maple leaf with a silhouetted player inside (Jorden hitting something he invented maybe? Just a thought).

Also, as far as style, I agree that playability comes before everything else. Soccer jerseys probably wouldn't get in the way too much. Is there any way, if we're buying a good number of these things, to get a prototype for someone to test?

Depending on price, (I'd spend up to 60-70 depending on quality of jersey), I'd buy one, that is if stupid Americans are allowed too...
