The Dexmaster 1000

Post by Iron Clad Ben » 13 Oct 2006 16:18

Based on advice from Grom, I set out to build a dexercise machine to work on my leg dexterities. I put my brilliant engineering skills to use and was able to build this bad boy out of $4 USD worth of 3/4" PVC tubing from the hardware store. Since building and using this dexerciser I have learned pixie set. If you haven't built one yet, I highly recommend it! It's extremely simple, you just need a long piece of PVC, (3) 3-way elbow pieces and a knife or pocket-knife saw to cut the tubing. No glue or adhesive required.

The Dexmaster 1000 is:
 Cheap to build (4 bux)
 Easy to build (no adhesive required)
 Easy to disassemble
 Lightweight and portable enough to bring to sessions.

So go out and build your own! It's fun, easy and can be a great aid to your game.

"Lightweight and portable enough to bring to sessions"

Why would you want to do this? Using it to practice at home sure but why would u take it to your sessions.

Thanks for the feedback. I can definitely see adding an adjustable height swirl dex bar on the Dexmaster 1500.

it looks WAY too tall to be useful. I think the only dexes youd need to actually practice are swirl, rev swirl, whirl, double downs. That is too tall for even like.. justin dale to do double downs on. Cool idea though!

... And you can't use a water bottle why?

Pixies are easy to learn with practice and patience. Fairies are different, and I don't think this dexmaster can help for that type of move. That's just me though.

youhave to realize ben is a tall lad, and as such this could suit him just fine, i like it i think if i made one it would me mainly for the swirl bar, but other than that i think it was an awesome idea!

This toy is unisex, too.

Ewww...

Anyway, cool idea, but I dunno if I'll find myself making one any time soon.

EDIT: Admittedly, I've been having a lot of trouble with learning DATW, I can't even tell what the trouble is, but this would possibly be of assistance. Ah well.

Thanks for the comments everyone :) I don't mind the razzing. If you post on modified (or any forum these days) you are almost guaranteed flames , so it's no big deal to me. I expected to get flames, some of which are actually fairly humorous.

That's not to say that I'm not serious about this thing.

Yes, it's tall, and I'm somewhat tall too, about 6'1" or 6'2" (~185cm) The idea is that for high pixie sets, double downs, dso's etc you need to have your knee up pretty high dexing the bag pretty high from the ground. Still however, I think I need to knock about 3" (10cm) off the top.

Since it's made from one big piece of PVC, each person can customize their own when they build one and build it as tall or as short as they want. I tried the 2L bottle thing and it just didn't work for me. So far this thing has been the shit. I just wanted to share.

Oh and thanks for the comments on my carpet. Yes, it's the shit :)

Answer me this though. Why not just work pixies with a bag? Or double downs with a bag? Actually the double downs are a good idea with this thing, if its the right size, but pixie? I dont think the dex ever needs work on pixie, its more of a timing and foot placement thing. Either way, nice work on the solid construction. :)
