Help with a 12,14 or 8 panel.

Post by G0dLik3 » 26 Jun 2008 10:23

Hi Guys.
I have made a 4 panel , 4panel (mr sandbag) 6 panel and 32 panel bags.
But the 4 panels are not really round and the 32 panel i think is not good for newbies.
so ive bought a 12 panel and a 14 and a 8 panel.
i played with my new 12 panel and it is so great but i ve kicked it to high and it fold into a rain gutter.
so im afraid of playing with my other 2 bags so i wanne make my own 12 , 14 or 8 panel bag.
so do you have a tutorial with pics how to make a 12 , 14 or 8 panel bag.

1.
i tried it alone but by a 32 panel bag you stich around the pent with 5 hexes (in the picture with red) and make a knot than you stich make the same with the others (in the picture blue) but the space between the first and second penta you dont stich (in the picture with yellow).

2.
But when i want to make a 12 panel or 14 or 8 i cant stich a round and then the next because there were spaces between the pentas (red in the picture)

Twelve panels are weird. I know I messed mine up after the first few tries.

Just know that in a 12-panel there are five pentagons around one pentagon. Very rarely do you sew in a way where it's one complete revolution. It's more like you're adding a revolution over another revolution over another revolution. It's nothing like a 32-panel, but the sewing consistency is still relatively the same.

In 14-panels, there are four hexagons around one square. So the sewing method is pretty much like a 32-panel: you'll be adding separate revolutions as you're adding panels.

As for 8-panels, I've never sewn one before, but I think the concept is somewhat like the 12-panel. Three triangles around one triangle, and then sewing up the leftover ends.
