Bear Bag Vs. Hania

Post by Ramen God » 11 Jul 2010 08:17

I can't decide between getting a Bear Bag or a Hania. I want you to say which one you think is better and why, or just the pros and cons of both.

Hania's are smaller and will take more breaking in. Bear's are generally floppy and stally, instantly playable.

Two of the best stitchers out there, you can't go wrong.

if you want a smaller bag, get a bearbag mini. those are killer!
I only had an very old hania to compare with my bearbag, but it`s cool too and I think the ones she stitches now are very well known in the community!

Brian Bear one time used scented floss...so they smell good.
His two and three stitch bags are both good. I prefer small and heavy bags so maybe I am biased. He also taught his girlfriend to stitch(shinesobright) and her bag are pretty good too.

If you like mini bags take Hania's one.

I won't vote, simply because we both make great bags :)
That said, if you are on a budget, and don't mind ordering through modified and paypal, I have 2-stitch bags on sale for only $20 here!
As far as playability, people sound pretty right on:
Mine are slightly bigger and heavier and floppier.
You would be happy with either choice.

I own both and have played with multiple bags from each stitcher.
You seriously wont be disappointed with either one.
I am madly in love with my Hania bag and my bag from Brian got a lot of play time from me so.
If you have played enough to really develop a preference for bags, peoples comments here are pretty accurate.
I would also say Brian offers more options, ie two/three/(four =P) stitch, hybrid bags, millions of fills, and is more likely to suit a bag to your individual playing style if you ask a little further.
And I dont know if Hania is taking orders until after worlds, if you are looking to get it before then, unless you are gonna meet up with her there.
But my overall suggestion...
one now one later for sure. Definitely go for both, since both are among the key providers at the current moment.

And how about the microsuede from brian? How does it affect the play? (The last time I had used microsuede was a year and a half ago.)

It's less durable, but softer.

I recently got a facile bearbag. I can definitely attest to how incredibly well it plays right out of the envelope. I have a Hania in the mail but i'll wait till both are broken in before i weigh in on the poll. From the sound of it everybody is right, you probably will be happy with either.
