beginner alternative to suede?

Post by lochnessmonshta » 20 Aug 2015 10:53

Hiya, I'm a newbie sewer and I was wondering is there an affordable alternative to suede for me to use on my first few footbags? I plan on investing on ultra suede when I get better but right now I just need a good fabric to practice with that will hold up better than random scraps.

a lot of people recommend t shirts for practice bags stitching. I chose to just buy a variety pack of Ultrasuede from Fields Fabrics for like 20 bucks.

Thanks that's actually pretty solid advice. I just checked out the site and that seems like a pretty good deal.

I have some microsuede (woven backing) that I started out with but no-longer use. If you give me your address and want to send me $5 for shipping, I'll gladly send you all of it. It's not as thick as ultrasuede, but it is a fantastic material to learn on. I made my first 10 bags out of it.

I wish that I saw your msg 3days ago. I ended up going to the local fabric store and buying some from there :/
