Bulio's Bag making blog

Post by bulio » 18 Apr 2005 12:18

Hi everyone,

This is my new blog for making bags. I am starting with 4 panel Mr.SandBags and am working up from there.

Day 1: I made my first Mr.SandBag out of red and blue felt. I made this one quickly in 1hr 15 mins just to see if I could actually make a bag. It came out quite well. (Thanks to the 2 sewing classes i've took! :) ) It's filled with rice, and you can read the whole thread here:

Gonna post some more tomorrow!

Day 2:

Today i'm planning on making a better bag. It will be of higher quality and filled with small rocks. I still need to learn how to blind stitch so that I can make the bag with better quality. I'm debating on making the bag out of jeans or a fabric material, not quite sure yet, but I am going to start in a little bit.

It's great that you're so stoked on stitching bags!

Next time you're on MSN I will walk you through the mysterious and mythical "blind stitch" technique.

Day 2, Bag 2,

Ok, I finished the next bag. Here are the specs:

Quality: Poor
Material: Shirt denim (Weak)
Filed with: Rice
Thread: Polyester
Stitch time: 1 Hour (Due to hard work with bad material)

This bag was more of a bag to practice while waiting to buy Panne material either tomorrow or on Friday. Took me awhile to make because I kept having to restart on certain parts due to the denim's edges getting frayed while sewing. I didn't take any pics of the bag, as It wasn't that nice, nor was it what I wanted it to be like.

Does anyone know the average price for 1/8 or 1/4 of a yard of panne in Canada?

Day 2, Bag 3

Ok everyone,

My third bag! It's the best one yet! No pictures tonight as my camera has no batteries. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow

Quality: Medium
Material: Type of jeans, soft polyester, spandex and cotton.
Fill: Special type of tea balls
Stitch time: 1hr 30

I worked pretty hard on this bag, and it came out pretty nice. The fill is a kind of tea that resembles a very coarse sand, and works pretty well as long as it's not wet.

It's pretty good for actually kicking around, and at this rate, with material i'll be making great bags :)
