Way to rock the event. I'm glad you came to help represent the country's skill. It was fun hanging out, see you in a year.

So today marks the first full day home from the U.S Open. Man, what a trip.
I'm sure eventually I will go through the tournament detail by detail, but for now, I think I'll just ramble and see what happens.
If you thought I wasn't going to the tournament, then I guess my little plan worked. Im pretty sure everyone knew though. IOt wasnt some bhig "omg" fest when I walked up. That's cool though, I really doubted that anyonje had been fulled by the ***** thing on the confirmation list.
My weekend started on WEdnesday with a trip to nyc which is where JFK airport is located. I took the trip with my trusty sidekick Alex Strassman, who is my guide, bag breaker inner, picture taker, advice giver, late night walker, 7-11 finder, and overall amazing friend. If I owe one person for the amazing time I had, it has to be Alex. He stuck by me every minute, was always there making me laugh, and always had faith in my game and my ability. So, thanks alex.
The weekend was filled with tons of shred, tons of late nights, and tons of fun. I met some of the coolest people I know, and re-met some I had already encountered. Perhaps my best new friend is Sam Potter. This kid pciked me up at the airport, let me and Alex sleep at his house, and then took the train with us to Portland. He was always up to shred, and let me tell you he has one of the sickest styles. His game is solid and well balanced. He reminds me of me a year ago. He is the next big U.S thing.
My journey was also spent mostly with Stephen Barnes. A surprise guest, stepehen has been one of my closest friends ever since css. It was really awesome to hang with him so much, and he has improved a nice bit since css as well. I was truly amazed at how well him, me, alex, and sam got along. We were all great friends right from the start.
All weekend I stayed at red's house and even though I'm going to write him an e-mail thanking him later his kindness can be mentioned way more than once. This guy had so many footbag places. He really cares about the U.S shred scene and really puts a shitload of effort into it. He is the man.
There are so many other people that made this weekend great. Chris Miller put in a shitload of work with designing and the website, and even though I only chilled with him one night it was really awesome. I met James Randall who I had only known online and we really hit it off. I talked to Dyaln Fry who is funny as hell and who I had previously never really chatted with. I got to know people like Penske a lot better.
I was kind of bummed that I didn't spend much time with Dat or Mike, but they were really busy helping. They put so much frikken time into the event. They scored like 50 shred 30's and never complained. These guys are a true testament to behind the scenes players. Dat and Mike are two of the nicest most generous guys in the world, and it's really an honor to know them. They would give the shirt off their back for someone they don't know. I hope they read this and know how much I value them at footbag events.
As far as actual footbag playing goes I was really stpoked on my game. I had been skooling a lot up until the veent and I feel like it really paid off. My knee gave out on the 2nd day but I kind of just dealt with the pain and got over it. It hurts a shitload now but I'm glad I didn't let it slow me down. I placed well in the events I wanted to, and did well with my routine. I dont know about the whoel controversey, but i made a routine that I wouldve liked to watch.
This tournament made me reflect on a lot of stuff. It made me value my life. It made me realize how tight my friends are. It made me realize I am growing more independent and I can actually do shit on my own. I wasn't constantly asking shit this tournament like I normally do. I kind of just tried to be really resourceful and stuff. This tournament made me realize how much I still have left to achieve in footbag. There are so many tricks I cant do, so much ground left to cover. Even though this ounds engative, its not at all. I am thankful I have the base of skills to continue on in this game and progress and hopefully become one of the best. I look up to people like Penske and Jorden becuase they are such athletes and are serious about progression. We all do different tricks, but we all really want to better ourseleves and reach unbeleviavle levels. There were truly no 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at this jam, becuase all three of us are pushing it in our own ways.
I want to thank anyone who talked to me at this jam, anyone who said kind things about my game, and anyone who I had the honor of playing with. I know its a bitch to make it out to jams, and im super stoked everyone did. Thank you dylan for making me laugh. Miller for beleiving in me. Matt and Will for making the trek. Stephen for the shoes. Sam's sister for the shower. Emily for fixing my bag and being herself. Genz for the bag and units. Red for the room. Landes for an awesome 1-1 sesh. Ricky moran for showing me style. Louise for being an awesome chill dude. Noah for the parties. Ellis for everything. Alex for being my buddy. Ashley for the clothes. The train crew for the entertainment. Kyle for the freckled lemonade. Evan for making it out and killing it. Penske for ripping. Jorden for showing me how much I cant do. The judges for judging. Justin Dale for reminding me that when you better others you better yourself. Linscott for the 4 man. Randall for the yoyo session. Dat for filming and judging and the sweatshirt. Potter's parents for the ride. My mom and dad for the money. Sole purpose for hosting. Sam Potter for everything. Bevier for the inspiration and showing me that you can have fun and still win.
If I forgot you I'm sorry. I hope to see everyone next year.

Cleaned some old tapes so I could refilm on them. Stuck the footage together.

I did not like it. I loved it.
It is really cool how many contacts you have between your bsosing. I just sit and wonder if you will bsos it or not and then SLAM. I love your game. I guess I have to update my surveyprofile with "the shredder in the world I want to shred with the most". Oh yeah have you hit Genesis BSOS maybe even b2b? That would be super sweet.
Congrats on your results at US Open.

I thought maybe it had to do with fruit seeds. Well, thanks for clearing that up anyways.Pirate Man wrote:Rory Dawson wrote:
What is a freckled lemonade you might ask? Well, it's a lemonade beverage packed full of real strawberry action. It's actually the strawberry seeds that make it freckled. In fact, if you were a freckled lemonade, I would probably drink you.

played tonight with mike before he goes on vacation. i actually had a lot of fun. i stayed away from whirls on the bad knee, and played pretty one sided in general. wasnt too much of a bummer. had some ok highlights, but nothing worth writing down. worked on blazing a bit and some double down combos. i can do flip blurriest without much pain on my knee so i skooled that some. tried to do better barrages, still kinda thin.
been stitching a lot recently and finished up 2 bags. id post, but it takes a while to set up my camera and shit since i dont have a real digital one. i think they look pretty good though. one of them wont break in forever, but one of them we played with tonight for a little and we got a few decent runs into it. its still rolly though. im going to start one tonight with a lot less gather, because now im gathering like, almost as much as possible.
im pretty excited for school. me and my mom bought a lot of shit for it yesterday. got like, towels and bathroom stuff. i hope school isnt that hard. im excited to hang out with nathan. ive always liked him at jams, and now we will be like neighbors. my roomate seems pretty chill too. i am sure i will shred a lot and hopefully get better. if anything i would just like to retain my current skill level, but its hard when you have so many concepts to keep fresh. who knows.
funtastik looks pretty possible, but i might play bad becuase of my knee. also, i dont want to miss any psu shit. who knows, only time will tell. i leave for school in like 8 days! whoa. i think ill just stitch and pack this week.
well, thats it for now. leave some comments if you feel like talking about something with me.
