I've done these before. Let's try them. Hmm...My body keeps wanting to do a ss mirage after every ss mirage. Alright sick! Just did a little over 20. I cant keep count because I need to pay attention to what I'm doing. Those are fun!
LOL i have the same problem. but they are fun none the less.

try:
far legover> far legover>rpt. (its a clipper and a legover out of the clipper set with the same clipper stalling foot.)

legover>legover>rpt amap is always fun too

Dude thanks Virppa. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO close to hitting this:

mir > illus > mir > ss (flip)clip > pdx mirage > legover > pickup > legover > mir > illus > mir > ss clip > pdx mirage > legover >pickup > legover

It's not even funny. I've been doing it for 2 hours now. It's almost 3am and I got work at 12!!! I dropped it on the last pickup UGH. WILL hit this next session. Right now I am sweating my ass off.

I can definitely do 20 legovers/pickups b2b Ben. Will try harder though with far legovers and try that out!

Is it "cheating" to jump when you do a pixie?? Cuz if it isn't I just hit smear tonight, holler! hahaha

Kicked away a DATW. Maybe next session I'll seal one.

Ohhh and I can hit DLOs with a lot more consistency now. I realized to just worry about the legover and just let my body do the mirage by itself. No luck flipside though.

SHIT I NEED SLEEP.

Tim

:?: ps I am thinking about modding my lavers aka removing the canvas. People still do this right? I remember reading about it and hearing it was good so I performed the surgery on my last pair of lavers right before I got new ones. I just wanna make sure that no one has discovered recently that this mod isnt as good as it used to be or there's a better mod, you know what I'm saying?

Made a facebook account just to see who played footbag in CT and found a local college guy who is down sometime next week aka SICK!!!

Was sick today, throwing up and everything. First time in years I've thrown up and it wasnt from drinking haha. But also didnt feel enough to kick today.

Yesterday I hit a couple of smears for my friends. Kicked away another DATW. And once again, dropped that huge string on the pickup. SO frustrating. Also hit symp mir > butter > pdx mirage. And infinity > pdx mir for the first time.

EDIT: Oh yeaaaah, I also hit crispy dlo twice. Got tired of doing flip clips and was like hell I can probably do something cool from my strong clip. Good to know my strong clipper has been getting better even though I'm training my weak one.

Can't wait to feel better!

ps Can someone verify that post of mine about modding before I attempt it? Maybe I wont, whoooooooo knows!

Sorry to hear you are sick and props for everything you´ve hit. That long drill is a killer so remember to give yourself props when you hit it.

About modding lavers, I´d recommend you to do it. You will have a better feel for the bag. I didn´t have any prolems with my modification and I modded my pair straight from the box. Before I gave that pair to family friend kid there were couple little holes on insides but nothing that would affect my game. Just be sure that you don´t make holes when removing the canvas.

Meow you guys doing?

Post by Tim » 14 Jan 2008 00:24

Have no work tomorrow so of course I'm up mad late tonight. It's turning 3am as I write this. Also, it's snowing pretty heavily outside so I'll have nothing to do but sleep late, clean my house, and shred. Tried kicking right now but my body feels "stupid". Haha, that's the best way to put it. Probably go to bed after I post this.

Just got done modding the insides of my lavers. Took me over an hour since all I have is a steak knife and scissors but damn I did a good job. I forgot how much of a difference it makes on how you feel the bag. It reminds me of snake skin. I'm definitely going to get used to this.

Actually hacked outside today with a couple of kids at the boardwalk. Dillon, one of the guys from last year was one of them. And it's obvious that he hasn't been practicing at all since his lavers still look brand new after 6 months and he still can't hit mirage which he was about to hit when we stopped kicking together. I told him to get back on the train! I gave the other kid an extra Mr. Sandbag I had on me. Hopefully they get back into it.

Didn't feel like grinding out flip clippers when I was with them. I think, I THINK I hit :
Crispy DLO > Symp Mir > Toe Whirl (not ss aka all strong clips)

If I didn't hit the three of them together I did hit them in pairs so definitely putting them together is possible. Don't want to be screwing around with stepping set yet but I just wanted to hit something big ya know. Stepping far legover (crispy DLO right?) is the only thing I tried so far and have hit a few. I have enough time to work on my flip clippers at home like I will do for a couple of hours when I wake up.

Yeah I'm passing out. I can't even keep my eyes open. Hahaha oh yeah, if you're familiar with the movie Super Troopers then you probably know the whole MEOW game where they said MEOW instead of how or now. Well I hosted at work tonight (instead of waiting; I work at a restaurant) and my co-worker and I played the game the whole night. Most fun I've had at work, keeping a straight face while saying it was almost as hard as keeping a straight face while my co-worker did. I was crying from laughing so much after the customer had moved away from us. "Meow you guys doing this evening??", "Meow many are there with you?", and "Meow was everything?". People looked at us funny but no one caught on. Freaking hilarious!

Goodnight modified!

Besides the one Antti gave you, here's another good toe-to-toe tiltless drill I used to do a lot (and still do once in a while):

legover>atw (out-in)>legover>atw (out-in)>pickup>atw (in-out)>pickup>atw (in-out)>mirage>ss mirage>mirage>ss mirage>illusion>ss illusion>illusion>ss illusion

Good luck!

edit: ok technically it's not a drill but "a series of drills"

Most epic session ever???

Post by Tim » 17 Jan 2008 14:06

Holy shit. I would have posted this earlier but my computer has been down.

On the night of January 15, 2008 I hit

DATW BOTHSIDES

The only time I have ever hit a DATW was from an outside stall with my left foot that left a lot to be desired. But on Tuesday I hit double around the world THREE TIMES each on both feet. Out to in on my right foot, and in to out on my left (the same foot I can do smear from). This is probably my hugest accomplishment ever in the realm of footbag and I am QUITE pleased with myself

I realized that (partly from reading jordens post about how one shouldnt be asking for help with butterfly if they need still need help with clipper) I should abandon that drill I've been trying with the paradox mirages until I get my flip clipper better. Instead, with a little modification to that drill, I will be trying the following string until I hit it:

Mir > Illusion > Mir > SS Clip > Mir > Legover > Pickup > legover > SS Mir > Mir > Illusion > Mir > SS Clip > Mir > Legover > Pickup > legover > SS Mir

18 move string. Definitely possible for me with in the next week.

Oh and Lauri, I never even gave ss illusions a thought. I tried them out and have been able to hit them. I'll try that series of drill soon too haha.

I'm figuring out someway to start off each session. Like doing just kicks, then stalls, then stretching, then basic dexes, and finally actually shredding till I sweat buckets. We'll see how it goes.

Alright, I'm back into it. Had the flu for a good week and couldnt kick at all without coughing shit up. Literally shit was coming out of my mouth.

Today I hit:
butterfly > pdx mirage > flip butter > flip pdx mirage
infinity > pdx mirage BS

Oh and I just realized that I havent been dropping my hip when I do clippers (I read that old post on clipper form which helped though sadly that picture no longer works). So there's the hop, the slight turn of my body towards the bag, and then the leg that is clipping drops at the hip. Fucking so much better. Well not crazy better but like I can now start worrying less about even clippering in the first place and move towards dexes. Oh hey, far pickup might be a simple move but it looks cool. I THINK.

Now I'm off to drink some whiskey.

By the way, this stuff is aaaamazing if you like bourbon:

Image

Landed my cleanest smear EVER. Realized that I can't just start off with my pixie foot but have to do the toe stall and then use the bounce to pull it off. Like trying to do a pendulum from stopping. Feel me?!!?

What else, what else. Definitely going to enter the 1st quarter modified competitions for the first time (woo!). Haha oh yeah, and was reading back in my livejournal and found out I landed my first mirage on August 21st 2005 :!: I say thats the day I started freestyle. Would be a lot better if I didn't stop so many times but nowadays I can do 20 consecutive mirages bothsides so obviously SOME improvement haha.

Anyways, happy valentines day!

Jesus Christ I am sore.

Yesterday I drove up to UConn, the college I formerly attended, because a couple of kids started an OFFICIAL footbag club. Something I had said I was going to do if I had stayed at UConn. Also, Jon still goes to UConn and I haven't kicked with him since worlds.

The meeting was at 930 and I got there at 7 and proceeded to just kick with Jon for 2 hours with his very beaten in Fearless 55 which is incredible. Extremely awesome session, it feels so beneficial to kick with other players that are at my level or beyond. Jon can hit some huge stuff now but I have longer strings of simpler moves. He says I'm better, I say he's better haha. He can do paradon, ripwalk from dimwalk, dimwalk to butterfly swirl (hit it right before we stopped that evening), infinities times like 10, and a bunch of other cool stuff.

Myself, on the other hand, for the first time hit

dun dun dun dun!!!

DRIFTER

Basically barely sealed all the ones I hit but I did hit them. One from strong clip, and one from toe bothsides. Awesome stuff. It looks like drifters will come to me before whirls do. Whirls are just foreign to me. More improvement in the realm of weak clippers as Jon told me to put my hip out more as I drop it, looks like my foot is more flat when I do this. It was damn good kicking with Jon.

Well to sum up the meeting with the official club, their name is the "Awesome Hacky Sack Club". One of the founders was hacking in jeans hahaha. They were cool guys though and I gave out 3 Mr. Sandbags, told them to keep kicking and I'll see them when it gets warm out. Speaking of Mr. Sandbags, I should order like 20 in the near future so I'll be ready for spring to give to people that have a definite interest footbag.

OH OH OH OH OH. Jon bought some tungsten and some tape from freedom so he fixed my Joshua Raye bag. BAAAAAALLIN. Note to self: refrain from using sick backs like that out on concrete. I'm gonna save it for carpet sessions.

Footbag is once again awesome.

Tim

ps WTF, I forgot all about that drill I was going to hit "within in the next week" and that was a month ago. Ill try it Friday.

Alright I want to learn how to do pixies. I can do the basic 2 add toes move with pretty much ease these days so now I need to step up my game. Gotta watch some tutorials I guess because I have no one to teach me in person awwwww

Flip clipper is still getting better. From a comment about my novice sick one entry (pdx mirage), it appears that my arms have a mind of their own and I need to keep them lower, which looks better and will in turn probably help me.

Hacking back at the boardwalk. Dillon hit five mirages in a row, footed flip one a couple of times. Good stuff. I love spring :D

Myself, I finally landed a flip DLO, and while trying to Eggbeater I in turn hit Atomic Legover. So crispy eggbeater??? Ehhh

But PIXIES, I need to learn them!

We'll see how this goes...

Good session today at the boardwalk.

FINALLY, and I mean FINALLY since it was my goal 7 months ago, I hit 12 consecutive flip clippers. God what the hell is taking me so long to learn these. Flip butterfly is way far away...

But I also hit flip clip > pdx illusion > strong clip > pdx illusion > flip clip > pdx mirage > strong clip > pdx mirage. Pretty sweet.

Magellan for the first time ever but it was barefoot. DLO from strong clip. Hit a couple of whirls and reverse whirls and was able to seal them with near pickup which is good. Doing any of that stuff from flip clip is going to be quiiiiiiiiite hard.

OH and 12 alternating clippers. Had to move my feet mad fast because a couple of the sets were low but whatever I'll take it.

Mad a footbag myspace page...did I say that before? Will actually update it in a couple of days.

CUT MY BEARD OFF, party because I sweat too much from it when I hack but mostly because I felt like doing something different.

Tim

PS I am very careful of my arms now...keeping them low does help.

Just had an INTENSE weekend in New York City. Got screwed out of seeing the Weakerthans (my favorite band), ended up going to a bar next door instead, met up with this awesome girl, lost my friend Paul (who almost got jumped, helped some naked guy put on a newspaper skirt, and smoked on the subway at 2 in the morning), said goodbye to the awesome girl, found the backroom of this bar packed with people dancing to trance and techno, danced forever myself, thought I lost my backpack but never had it in the first place, left the bar at 7 in the morning, fell asleep on the subway, finally found my cousins house in brooklyn and got there at 8 in the morning, woke back up at noon and went for brunch but we were so hungover we just drank orange juice, went to central park around 2 and found the NYFA kicking away

PAUSE the story...Had an amazing session. Hit Blur and Eggbeater for the first time!!! Also had a 20 contact tiltless string. Perhaps best session EVER???? It is required that I go back there asap to get some more experience. Anyways...

kicked for a good three hours till my legs could no longer function, met back up with the girl from the night before, the three of us then went back to the bar to get Paul's cellphone which is awesome they still had it, went to some sick place in Williamsburg for Pizza and Pasta (also the name of the place), bought some really expensive beer to bring back to my cousins house, took the Q back to his apartment for a "wine and cheese" party, which eventually became a lot more than that and a ridiculous time, fell asleep around 3, woke back up at 10, walked said girl back to the subway and said goodbye to her, went with Paul, my cousin, and his girlfriend for brunch, had a delicious breakfast and my first Bloody Mary which was a lot spicier than I imagined, parted ways with my cousin and his girlfriend, went to Manhattan, did some shopping on Broadway, FINALLY took the Q train back to my car, and drove home.

Basically I love New York and I want to move there.
