I think that was the 'daintiest' torque I've ever seen. It looked like you were tip-toeing through the garden haha. Props on the move though. Go DC! Wait you don't live in DC. Go Maryland!!!!!

Today is a testing day at school and I finished all my grading, so thought I would do a quick blog post while I do not have anything going on.

Haven't been able to play to much but I did get in a session with Vince last Thursday. Not too much of note happened. But I did hit the best stepping set I have ever done. Perfect. Unfortunately I was shocked by it and couldn't finish. Oh well.

Hopefully I will be able to play tonight since I don't have class after school. Ken challenged me to hit parkwalk to DLO and I have been pretty close so I will probably work on the a bit more. Also, see if I can "perfect" the stepping set. Probably, I will work on long strings more than anything else.

In the past 4 days, I got in three, yes three sessions with Ken.

We filmed a lot for the videos we want to make. I am going to put out a video of the both of us sooner rather than later because I am getting better, so I wanna post how I am now before it is shameful to look at.

Saturday the weather was just way too nice to turn down. It was like 70 degrees in November. On Sunday we played in my gym because it was just a bit too chilly to play outside. Today it was in an old basketball stadium on my campus.

Ken hit lots of wonderful things, but he will probably describe it in his own blog.

Today was definitely my best session, I hit couple of tiltless strings that were 10 contacts, which is pretty exciting for me. I also hit parkwalk mid-string, dimwalk to some stuff, and PLO. I like pixies.

Speaking of pixies, here is my halloween costume:

Image
I am a pixie. It says toe>same in dex ony my chest and I am wearing my quantums. Ken is eurotrash :)

I was trying to wait to post it in my blog until I uploaded a video of me doing a parkwalk in my pixie costume but it is not loading to youtube. oh well

And here is a random picture I took in DC. I really like this rose:

1. It was awesome to get to play so much footbag with you this weekend. I hope we can get some club sessions in the near future when Vince heals up and Dan Shedd's classes calm down.

2. Just to clarify, when Age says "tiltless runs" she means runs where the lowest add tricks are 2s. Most of her runs today were a mix of tiltless and BOP. You were playing really well today.

3. I'm also excited about your video ideas. I think if we film one more session of you, we'll have enough to make a short vid of the two of us. And of course, I look forward to the video of me me me which will blow people's minds. :)

4. That pixie costume was great, and so was the parkwalk you hit in it. If you can't put it on youtube, you could put it on the video you make.

Today I went to the National Gallery of Art with all the foreign languages teachers from the high school I am interning at. We saw this exhibit on artifacts from Pompeii, Italy that were from Roman times but were well preserved because of a volcanic eruption that occurred in 79AD. Because southern Italy is close to Greece, there was lots of Greek influence in the art, architecture, and mythology. I am really into Greek mythology so it was way cool to see those influences. There was one myth in particular that really stood out to me today. It was about a vain young man named Narcissus. To make a long story short, he saw his own reflection in a lake and fell in love with it. He died of hunger because he could not bring himself to look away from his reflection. That is were the word narcissistic comes from. If you replace "Narcissus" with "Ken Somolinos" and "lake" with "shred video" then you can get a clear picture of what happens every time Ken watches new footage of himself

I tried going to the gym to play footbag today. I was hella pumped for it because I wanted exercise. When I got there the entire place was taken over by a volleyball tournament. It wasn't even a cool sport like rhythmic gymnastics (which there is also a tournament for every year at the gym). I was pretty bummed out to see my shred spot being used for the media room. Instead I decided to work out in the fitness rooms. Here is what I hit:
~25 minutes on the recline bike with O "The Oprah Magazine" in hand
~around 200 reps on different leg weight machines
~the horrible realization that I can barley use 5 pound free weights or do 2 pushups. Needless to say, I need to do some arm work

No worries, that's probably twice as many push-ups as most footbag players can do.

The sad thing, Emily, is that you are probably right...

Was going to play footbag for a bit today but instead I did an impromptu blood donation. I hadn't given in awhile and a place literally down the street from my house was having a drive. Unfortunately, they were understaffed and I ended up waiting almost 2 hours to even have my first screening where they test your iron and such. Luckily, my iron was high enough to donate, I would have been pretty upset if waited 2 hours and then couldn't donate because of low iron. On a positive note, during all that time I was sitting around, I got tons of work done. Grading as well as work for my own classes.

In other good news, I finally figured out how to get my videos on to youtube. It wasn't working for a bit and it is a bit of a pain in the butt to do it, but at least they are there. So in celebration, here is a run:

Great string Age. You look like you're really starting to get it. You had really nice rhythm and style. Keep up the good work.

Hey, keep that garbage in the kicking circle. This blog is exclusively for praising our sweet Adrienne. :o

Good job Age! Everything looks much easier for you. You look comfortable and happy. :-) I can't wait to see more videos of you.

hey, nice string. that's probably some of the best playing I've seen you do, but then, we haven't really played in a while ;) keep it up, it's nice to see some longer strings.

Thanks for the comments everyone! They are always much appreciated! My progress is coming slowly, but I am glad it is noticeable :)

The location that I was playing in is the old basketball gym that was converted into an indoor soccer stadium (also known as Cole Field House...). While It sucks that basketball left that stadium, it was a really nice floor to play on.

Went to Benny and Rivka Kellman's wedding in New York on Thursday. It was really beautiful.

Saturday morning I left for Pittsburgh with Ken to see Girl Talk. Unfortunately, we didn't get to play as much footbag as we had liked before the show, but I am not hurting too much because I wasn't playing very well (though Ken may say otherwise). It was fun to play with Ian Brill, Josh Gayhart, and Matt Beall. Matt has improved so much since I was in Pittsburgh in May.

The show was a good time. Although it was kinda weird because it it a guy, his computer, and lots of people dancing around him on stage. I had to view it more as a dance party than a concert.

I hope to play a bit of footbag after I get out of class tonight, but if I am too tired, I won't. Will probably play on Thanksgiving. Ken will be joining my family for Thanksgiving dinner, so it works out well.

Did a bit of baggin' today. Mostly practiced string length. I worked on butterflies and did some drills to work on all the different kinds. Also did a lot of work on my flip clipper. I did, like, 15 clippers on my flip side. I also hit my flip pixie legover. Not a bad session.

While I was playing, I had MTV Hits on the TV (a station that actually plays music videos, crazy , huh?). They started playing a marathon of all of Christina Aguilera's music videos from her whole career. It was amazing, brought me back to my teeny bopper days. I found my self getting distracted from footbag in order to dance around my living room. I keep looking back to my 12 year old self dancing around my room singing lyrics such as "Im not just talking About your sexuality But I cant help myself When you put your hands on me"

Eventually they moved away from Christina Aguilera music and they showed the video for American Boy by Estelle ft. Kanye West. So don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic song, but I really just don't see how that chick became famous. She doesn't sing that well and she doesn't have any moves and is a really awkward dancer. She is also not that good looking, which unfortunately is the only way some people get famous.
