I'm really inspired to hear that other people in the world are as crazy as Jon and I. Catstacking, who woulda thunk it?

I was back to work this week on the renovations at my parents house. Applying the tape and mud to the drywall is quite a tedious job. Oh and I've run out of money so... I better get some.

Stefan and I are dog/house sitting for a friend. Turns out they have a 65inch hi def tv in their living room. Not too shabby. So I decided to have a footbag session beside it last night.

Solo practice, after one day off, no goals, just play:
smoke a bunch on both sides
pixie ss drifter a bunch on both sides
paradon > hand catch every time on both sides
Experimented with really high set downtime paradons. This will swing right into barflys and other double downs preceded by a set or duck/spin.
barfly>hand catch 4 times in a row on flip side
a bunch of barflys on my other side as well
blender>blender (have hit this before)
paradox whirl a bunch on both sides, a few bsos
new drill : toe drifter>para mirage>ss butterfly>ripwalk>para mirage RPT

I footed paradon swirl when I was playing with Anssi. He gave me a quick tip and all of a sudden everything was clear. I should hit that today.

I guess I could still give myself goals as long as its after my structured drilling!

So here's todays footbag menu:
Thoughtfully drill all sets (pixie, ferry, atomic, quantum, stepping, whirling, barraging)
stepping ss clip>op clip rpt 20
stepping ss clip>duck rpt 15
symple leg over [10 op and 10 ss] BS, all hand catch
illusion>ss symp legover rpt 10 BS \
)---> eggbeater prerequisite
ss illusion>ss symp legover rpt 10 BS /
Then freestyle shred and attempts at paradon swirl!

MMMMmmm my mouth is watering!

Here we go again.

Most importantly I would first like to defend the reason in which I write about non related footbag stuff in my footblog (I think i've done this B4 but i feel i need to state it more clearly). Footbag is only a part of my whole self. That being said I think that its important for other people reading this to know more about me than just shred. From the other end of the spectrum, however, I don't feel the need to spill my guts and make the majority of the content personal. Some footblogs I've seen have page after page of completely non footbag related stuff. I don't think that people shouldn't do this. I just know its not for me. Balanced content should include a few current events about me and then stick to footbag. This is after all a footbag forum. I have found a new joy in this blog; writing. Where else do I practice writing? NO WHERE! It's a good place for me to further develop the skill of expression through writing. I just want to make sure that its not the only place I can do that. I won't seek over-attention through this blog. Just making new friends and tracking progressions for myself and for others to support me on my journey. This is all because I want to keep myself in check by knowing where my heart is; knowing that it is closer to God than other worldly connections. Alright, now back to this weird internet-diary-footbag-thing.

Stefan and I have broken up. KABOOOOOM! Yep, 5 and half years of ship-relation. It's a decision that swirls around in all relationships all the time. "Is she/he the right one." I've read a ton lately on relationships and its so much fun learning about it. I feel like such an idiot based on what I knew previously. Everyone is innocent in so many ways. Most probably can't believe that we were having any trouble. Things were heading down a road that had way too many pot-holes. I am glad to say, however, that God is paving a new road for us to travel down. He is lighting the path and opening our eyes for a new beginning, together because of Him.

OK footbag time:

I've had two sessions since my last set of goals were posted. I had to break up the goals into two separate shreds because it was overwhelming. I started training the quantum set about three sessions ago and since then I've hit everything that I've attempted out of it.
quantum mirage BS
quantum leg over BS
quantum pick up BS
quantum illusion both footed many times
barrage is becoming easy. BSOS the majority of times attempted.
I feel confident in my eggbeater training. illusion>ss symp legover is tough but I'm getting better.
ss illusion>ss symp legover rpt 10

There's a new factor added to my training regime. EVERYONE needs to do this! Remove unnecessary movements of the support leg. Posting a video on this would be key. I think I'll do that too.
Example 1, A
Lets say I was setting an illusion from toe. As the bag first comes to stall on my toe it doesn't always land exactly center where we feel comfortable. So, as we launch we shuffle our support leg just a bit to compensate.
Example 1, B
This support leg shuffle can also happen because of a dissatisfaction from where the bag gets launched to. Back to the illusion; So I land the toe stall correctly in line with my hip and not to far out in front. But it gets set its in a place where it is uncomfortable for me to illusion so I hop the first support leg to make the landing of the setting leg (which becomes the support leg during the dex) more comfortable.

This might sound complicated and I will post a video soon. It's not always bad to hop. I just want to remove the hops that are unnecessary to create a cleaner feeling movement.

Todays Menu:
ferry, pixie, atomic, quantum, one run, all BS - 5 times
spin>hand catch X's 20 BS
op clip>spin>hand catch X's 10 BS
Then freestyle with Greg.
And I still need to try paradon swirl!

A serious battle occurred within me tonight. I'm glad I had it. During the circle shred of me and Greg's session I began to break down mentally. It was as if every place that I normally went to for comfort was hidden. Seemingly good things that I was hitting didn't satisfy me. Satisfaction couldn't have been bought even with a billion dollars.

Everything is now in place.

There is a fine line between practice, goals, and determination and just chilling the FLUCK OUT!

"Think before you practice or don't bother practicing" really kicked me in the ass tonight. I forgot to think about having fun again. This is reoccurring. At least now I'm grabbing this reoccurring problem and burning it in a FIRE!

I met a nice girl yesterday.... her name was Stefan. We hung out today. It was fun!

Tom, you are truly a part of my family! I have no qualms with you ever, only good times disguised to make each other think differently. Oh and read the post two previous and you might understand more about this new girl I met... idiot....  wiiiiiiinnnnkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Tonight's circle shred with Greg and the new comer Emily was really fun. I took that reoccurring problem of being too focused/serious and burnt it in a fiery pit.

Huge tiltless runs with lotsa 3's and 4's
phoenix>para torque BS like 6 times each
para drifter>hand catch BS 4 times
blurry drifter
guiltless run with 3 rev swirls on each side
almost completed PLO>pixie ss mirage>phoenix>para mirage RPT
blender>swirl can hit at least once every session
blender>ripwalk can hit at least once every session
duck>dive RPT is becoming very fluent
EGGBEATER!!! I think I got it! I aim to conquer this trick! It's finally developing.
duck>spin rpt I need to drill this more!!

My family and I are fasting for two days. No food and lots of prayer. Oh and fruit juice! We are proving to ourselves and to God that we are powerless under Him and that only He is in control.

When I was younger I thought all this stuff was crazy. Now it is all too clear.

One day done and another to go! I'm sooooo hungry!

Oh and I hit quantum illusion BS.
Thats all four quantum op dexes. Now I'm working on quantum sameside!

Videos coming soon....

The fast has come and gone. 48 hours with no food was a good experience. Most importantly for my relationship to God but also just experiencing the feel of no food. It was awesome, both for the latter and the first. The direction my life is to go in now feels stronger. And as usual the more you learn the more you realize you know so little....

FOOTBAG!

Quantum 3 Review
The quantum three's arrived in the mail and I nearly pooped my pants in excitement. I took them out of the box and my first impression (which can be VERY important) was that they looked very cheap. They reminded me of shoes I was forced to try on as a child at pay-less shoe store. "Generic" came to mind. "all these are is a very basic shoe model with both side canvases and the toe/tongue suede, not removed, just not added." I put them on and they were very snug. Uncomfortably so. I ordered them a half size larger than my g-units as I had been advised to do. I fretted this at first. For the two days that I fasted I wore my Q3's around with an extra thick pair of hiking socks hoping that it would help my feet feel more comfortable in their new habitat. I always shred with either no socks or a hyper-thin pair of ankle socks. So that is most of my pre-shred analysis. Today I played in them and I really am blown away! I really enjoyed every part of my session. I was worried that they would negatively impact my ankle crank. They definitely don't allow me to play the same as in my G6's, mostly its for the better. They felt comfortable, stallable, athletic, extremely light-weight, and quick. They force me to be conscious about where I stall the bag on my foot. That being said I feel like the toe box and inside box are technically smaller than on the G6's but they allow for a MUCH cleaner looking/feeling shred-style. I wanted something more athletic "looking" and instead got a sleek and simple shoe to play in. So far so good. But that was only the first session........

Session 02/11
ripstien>swirl
ripstien 4 times on strong side
ripstien 2 on flip (first two ever!!!!!!!)
ripwalk rpt felt so amazing in the quantums. Like I was flying.
flurry training as so:
(clip set ss dbl legover>ss clip> RPT to barrage>ss clip RPT) RPT
blender RPT (4 times)
drifter>swirl BS

No strings. Just feeling out the new shoes slowly with single or double tricks.

There will be a video of tomorrows training so that people can both learn and provide me with tips.

I have recently taken three days off due to a strong lower back pain. I'm going out to kick today though. I'm drooling for footy.

In case you have been reading, the video is finished. My first ever video, that I filmed and edited, loaded onto youtube, IN HIGH DEF. I couldn't be any happier about the result. It's a very simple concept that I wanted to do because I wanted to shy away from the style of the majority of other videos posted in the video section.

It's footage from one training session. One concept only; quantum. The idea is that I can use this for reference as I continue to drill quantum. Other people can either give me tips on it or take things from it to use in their own training. It's different on purpose. It's not trying to be epic or mindblowing. Just one training session. Oh and there's some highlights at the end.

Please don't be shy. I would love to hear what you think. That's why I'm on this forum.

EDIT: I'm serious, DON'T BE SHY! It's ok to comment! In other words, please comment, I would love to hear what you have to say. Good or bad!

firstly, that enterrage was sick.

progressive concepts! nice work. it was interesting that your right dexing leg became cleaner the further into the drilling you went. i think the progression was well laid out from a training perspective.

i'd like to see a part 2 to this video to see the next stage of quantum training.

I really look forward to see you hit those pixie/datw combos in drills.

Enterrage is such an awesome and underused trick.

I think I am gonna go through your entire quantum practice way next time I shred.

I enjoyed this video alot, hope to see more in the future.

I really wanted to finish my Training B-one before I left for Winnipeg. Oh yah I didn't mention yet, IM GOING TO WINNIPEG TO VISIT CORY. One of my best friends whom I worked and bonded with over the last two years in BC. I will also be playing much footbag with MANNA and ERIK. I told them I would come back. ;)

Training B-one will be a whirl/blender session.

hmmm what else...

Oh yah, at the beginning of the new Kingston Video Update (check it out pls, it's awesome) I hit pixie barrage. hurrray

I feel fat. I have always been so skinny. This is a weird feeling.
HHHHHHHAaAAAAAAAAAhhahahahahaha

This was just before 6 months of forestry work. By far the most grueling work I have ever done. I had no issues with feeling heavy after that. And on a funnier note this post was right after a two week road trip across Canada. No wonder I was feeling heavy. My blog is hilarious!..... self proclaimed hilarity, I'm glad I can look back and laugh.

There are a lot of promises I have made in this blog. Both to the FB community, to myself, and to the world. A lot of goals that I made have come true. I had completed them without even remembering them because there was such a huge time gap in between. It was really fulfilling to see what I have accomplished since I set some of my goals. The other side of the story is that I need to go back and finish the ones that remain.

uh-HAH! That's my new goal. I will go back and check off all my old goals. This'll be interesting!

In chronological order:
footbagi wrote:I will make haste and lay a slab of concrete just for me to shred.
This is in relation to the fact that there is no where to play footbag when treeplanting. Nor is there any energy. To do this for the upcoming treeplanting season will be VERY tough and will require a full game-plan. I have two months until the planting season begins.
footbagi wrote:pixie double switchover (I had never tried my flip before but it's really close, I hope to hit it bsos in the next couple weeks)
You heard the man. Here I go.
footbagi wrote:Every time I play I make sure to hit: DATW in>DATW out [bsos], swirl and reverse swirl bsos, and whirl>ripwalk rpt.
Do I really? Wow, that's a lie. But I could easily do this and I think it would be beneficial.
footbagi wrote:I gots a new camcorder, it's a high definition, hard disk drive, $1500 masterpiece. I will be using it for my "one year" video which will come out after I gets a good enough computer to edit on (so like....2 weeks).
Yah.... that never happened. Although I have thought about this since. My new plan is going to be a one-point-five year video. I just made my first vid so I'm passed the hurdle of editing. To the storyboard I go. This won't be your typical video. At least I hope not.

Well that's enough rework for now. I'll get to the rest later. Or will I...

All this talk of redeeming myself from old rusty goals was making me hungry. So I took a bite out of em!

First:
double switchover>paradon BSOS
double switch>DOD BS
terrage>DOD BS
double switchover BSOS in a guiltless string
That'll all go towards my pixie double switch BSOS goal.

Second:

Yes I have a stylish camera and quick computer and have been lazy with them.
Today I edited a bit of footage that I had from the Toronto Jam. Not a spectacular production but it's more than I was doing before. I always held back from editing because I was so picky. I just sat down and got er done today. It will be in the video section tomorrow, another in high def, including shred from Johnny, Anssi, and Jorden.

Third:
Another goal that you'll find back in the prehistoric ages of my blog is for triple around the world. 4 months into footbag I thought I could do it, and I could of. But I saved it for tonight.

I HIT TRIPLE AROUND THE WORLD!

It wasn't sketchy at all. (like I had thought it would be) It was as easy as a double. Now that I have broken down the triple wall I can feel many more to come. It was in-out, barefoot. Quantum 3's are feather-light, I'll hit it in shoes some day.

Bless ya'll!
Amen

Toronto Jam video is posted in the video section. Check it out!

Paradox whirl is mine, on both sides. I bought them. I own them.
the trick: set, pivot and raise dexing leg, dex, THEN release support leg to catch.

Before I was releasing support leg so early. This created a lot of problems. Now I can hit pdx whirl BSOS nearly every time!

Hurray!

blurry whirl rpt! I hit this over a year ago.

down double down twice on flip and midstring on strong side

toe whirl>swirl>barfly

ss butter>torque>ss butter>para whirl - and will rpt this soon

quantum legover BS started two successive strings with this

quantum legover> DATW-in BS started two successive strings with this

So I've been pretty good with my goals lately! and I have a new one!

butterfly>blur>DATW-in>rpt>butterfly>blizzard>DATW-out>rpt

then remove the butterflys with paradon in the first set and whirl in the second set

There, an all shred post!
gnight!
