Good stuff. The ten tiltless looked nice and controlled.

Where does the MetZelRio name come from?

I challenge you to do it the ATWs flipside aswell.

I appreciate you saying it looks controlled. Thank you. I strive for good control and hopefully I will have style one day.

The name comes from three flagship Nintendo titles:

Metroid (Met)
The Legend of Zelda (Zel)
Super Mario Bros (Rio)

And "Tales of" comes from Bandai Namco "tales of" RPG series

I Just had Hanna Make me some MetZelRio Themed Bags:

And the results (she said Instagram kind of messed with the actual colors)

As I consistently practice drills and basic moves, I can honestly tell that I have more body control and preparation for next trick and bag set placement. I'm certainly not good at it yet, but its getting to the point where I believe that when my body is ready, I could have a real chance at being not bad at footbag.

I watched a bunch of videos from one of my new absolute favorite footbag players and I was inspired to learn fairy set. Here is what I THINK I figured out from my trial and error and observation:

Fairy set is executed like: toe set, point toe down, knee comes way inside, bag goes straight up ( the bag shall not spin on fairy ) the bag travels just around the back of the heel area.

with this being said, my windows are virtually irrelevant because of obesity, but this too, will be corrected when my body is ready

EVEN SO, TODAY I LEARNED:

Fairy same clipper
fairy same pickup
fiary same legover
fairy same mirage
fairy same osis
fairy same butter

some of them had tiltless strings after their execution

practiced the proper execution of osis, finding that I need to bend the support knee more and the bag no longer rolls, but actually stalls, what a concept... but again, it will get easier when my body is ready lol (its getting there)

OH SHOOT! LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!

BOOM!

Also, it turns out, I have known someone in BAP since a long time ago and I didn't even know it... but even more strange... the thing is, I didn't even know he kicked footbag... oh, how I wish he would have introduced me to footbag while i was younger and more fit.

That's pretty crazy, man. Any chance you would divulge who your BAP-friend is?

Nice lavers, too. Are those your first pair?

Hi Nathan! Back in the Nineties I used to Juggle and have these weekly juggling sessions with some of the Grand Rapids, Michigan Juggling crew and every once in a while Josh Casey would show up. He was and still is a very good juggler. From what I understood, he did juggling demos, and flying disc demos, and now that I think about it, he must CERTAINLY have been doing footbag demonstrations too. BUT I DIDN'T KNOW! And by this time, he was already a member of BAP, and I didn't even know about footbag, let alone BAP. I didn't get introduced to footbag until probably close to ten years later. But honestly, I don't know that I would have been interested in footbag at that time of footbag history. BUT STILL DUDE, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW. I was interested to see who is currently a member of BAP today, and I pulled up the website, and there he was.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK?????

These Rod lavers are my 6th pair of footbag shoes. these are my 4th Rods, and I've had 2 pair of quantums. (I'm just getting back into footbag, after years of doing it incorrectly, and virtually 7 years idle)

My tribute to the FOOTBAG FOUNDATIONS YouTube tiltless 1 drill:

The video that I made a tribute to:

A few massive differences, I know, but that's what makes us unique.

Wow, your game is coming together quickly. Big improvements. And I've seen your Guiltless tricks… I think you have a good handle on footbag, even if you didn't play it correctly for a while. And I also am guessing that, once you're all drilled up on basics, Guiltless shred won't be tough to get right into for you. Keep it up dude.

@Nick - I've decided to get even more lazer focused on other basic drills, like consecutive ss clip (both sides of course) and being able to do 10 of each of the basic tiltless tricks in a string, which includes boths sides, 5 on each side in one string. Now, I'm still nowhere near where I want to be, but NOW, (prepare for redundancy for emphasis sake) I myself, can personally say I am so much better at footbag than I was just a week ago. serious, I'm bailing to tiltless runs every time without even realizing there is a toe stall to bail to, its like it doesn't even exist. I must have gotten a string of 20 tiltless today but I wasn't counting so, I don't know what my new record is.

@Cassie - I haven't left illusions out of my daily practice, in fact, there are a buch of illusion bs video stuff on my challenge thread. You gotta hear this too. We often have footbag videos from youtube playing on our big tv in our living room and my kids ages 3 and 10 are always calling out who is on the screen shredding or people they see in the background (my youngest is not yet able say anything other than hi da da), like, THATS ALEKSI AIRINEN! or Hey thats JOHNNY SUDERMAN! but today, we were on Hackrifice youtube channel and I think it was a FAT video and they were calling out, THATS CASSIE!

@Muffinman - its funny because back in the day when i was first introduced to footbag, I would be cruising the internet looking for sites that had videos for footbag (i had no idea modified.in existed) I think hackrifice.com came up near the top of my google searches and I wondered, who in the heck is this that has their own website for footbag videos and stuff??? THATS AWESOME! Now as I have gotten back into footbag, I find this guy who is doing these footbag foundations videos. Who is this guy who has no follicle appendages on the cutanias apex of his cranial structure, with black glasses and black clothing and black shoes? Whenever my wife and I watch a movie and she recognizes one of the actors on the screen, she will say, that's such and such (she's kind of a walking IMDB) but I will not recognize the actor because of the different hairdo or glasses or some other thing. I think I figured out who that footbag foundations guy might be though.

I stretched after my preliminary warm up, in the middle of my session and afterward. I relaxed my muscles, but as I went to bed, I cramped up so hard in both legs, and in both feet. there was no where to run to baby, no where to hide.

sesh highlights:

started with juggling

3 ball cascade 100 catches no drops
4 ball asynchronous fountain 100 catches no drops
5 ball cascade 100 catches no drops
284 catches 5 ball
about 70 catches 5 ball half shower (aiming for 100 to drill daily)

footbag:

100 alt consec toe (aint nuttin to it but to do it)
10 consec ss clip (aint nuttin to it)
10 consec ss flip clilp (something to it)
10 alt consec Legover (ain nuttin to it)
Spinning clip bs

worked on a challenge:
Mirage>Legover>Mirage>Legover>Illusion>Pickup>Illusion>Pickup

What I got:
Mirage>Legover>Mirage>Legover>Illusion>Pickup>Illusion>ss Pickup (FRICK! I forgot what the last one I was supposed to do was!!!)

then my battery on my camera was about dead, and since my whole challenge philosophy is "on video or it didn't happen" I just made sure it didn't happen without video. Oh I was so disheartened, because I was about to hit it and get happy. Lesson learned: only attempt challenges when you have a full battery or charging while filiming capabilities.

I'm concerned I shredded too hard last time... im injured, not just sore. Messed up something on my side, inside, doesn't feel like my back, but I suppose it could be. I'm pretty useless right now. Man, and I love footbag so much right now. Dad blame it.

I'm pretty sure I've got a cracked rib.

I'm done for a while, but I don't want to abandon the community. I want to provide some content along with all the keeping up I do with all add the connect you all do here (I basically read everyone's stuff).

I've got an idea, and I am gonna start working on it because I might be out for months. I might even travel to some of the jams and formed just to meet and video and be an offline presence as well as online.

I've got big ideas for footbag, but I'm not sure footbag has the capacity for my big ideas. That's not an insult, it's just I'm not sure. Footbag is capable of huge things. That I'm sure of. Just not sure if my ideas are to huge for the current state of footbag or not. Blah. That sounds contradictory and I'm aware of that. I know what I mean. Let's just try and sees where things go.

I will test the idea(s) because I wrote most of them down and I will attempt to put them in action. Thank you for the interest! :)

While I recover, I put together a short video of some of my better old stuff which will pale in comparison to my new stuff because I am so much better at the basics now.

I'm also interested in your ideas. ANd seeing that video, I'm so excited for you to come into yourself as a player with good fundamentals. You're on your way. Don't let this injury road block mess up your urge to get good. We all have to take time off sometimes. Think about doing tricks in your head while you are hanging out around the house and think about how they feel… you'll be surprised that you can actually improve that way, while not even physically trying the tricks. Best of luck in your recovery.

Like the basketball study Mr Klouda referred to in a few places in his book. Let me say something to anyone who may be reading this, BUT espescially to anyone who is NEW in freestyle footbag: Purchase and read Vasek Klouda's How to play footbag manual. (I will be posting a SERIOUSLY significant article relating to this in the near future)

I really enjoyed the video of footbag to juggling and back transitions. That's some cool stuff. I might mess around with that some.

How did you crack a rib playing footbag? Do you remember what motion it was that did it?

Also, how tall are you?

I'm afraid so.

No footbag news on my end that I'd like to report, but I did do a seven ball flash today.

I'm so blown away by the fact that Jorden won the juggling championships in 2010. I FEEL like I've been kind of a doofus to him in the past. (and to alot of you guys/gals) But, I'm a student now, I will treat you with respect, hopefully learning the correct way of footbag, and juggling. I do feel that drilling basics/foundations MAKE you better, as opposed to might just help you a little. understanding of how little motions and little points of form make a major difference. Not only that, but that new understanding along with experience and growth then seems to unlock understanding of the move you are attempting. its like it clicks in your mind that the ball/bag has to be travelling this height/direction and if the throw/set isn't exactly correct, you can switch patterns/bail to something else to recover then begin again, or just plain start over. All of which builds up to striving towards perfection of the execution. (no such thing, but striving towards) like Rowen from Tales of Xillia says as he levels up -

"Never stop improving"
