Janis's blog - (un)retired from footbag

Post by janis » 03 Dec 2006 03:53

Basically my game is all about the big tricks and hard links at the moment, I don't really do runs except for the odd bit of toe guiltless here and there. Instead of clogging up the video forum or the melbourne blog I thought it would be a good idea to post some videos from my solo sessions here and the odd comment about my game when I feel like it.

November 18th:
I hit this move for the first time in december 2005 and it took me until the 18th of November 2006 to finally get it on video:

I think this might be an invention, but I've been told not to throw the "invention" word around too much, anyway idk, have a look for yourself:

as for my game I've been working on spinning heaps recently, I'm really loving inspinning and pincher spinning, I'll post some vids soon.

I love your style dude. So unique. I'd like to see some longer strings though. With your kind of style it'd be so intense.

Sweet vids and props on all the moves. Especially Pinchy Ducking Pincher.

got a shred session on camera with Caroline, Alex and Dan, hopefully going to make a christmas calander video in a few days time. Just couldn't quite get pixie spinning pincher on camera, meh. Managed to get a good run while holding the camera, just about to capture it now.

new move: Neutron smasher :D
new linkage: dimwalk > pdx mirage bsos

ok, so you've convinced me to do pinchers.
Today I hit pincher bluriest, though the non stepping version would be much harder. I almost hit pincher pdx illusion, yet pincher blizard is much easier...Know what I mean?

ANYWHOO thanks for the inspiration yo!

silly tiltless run:

some footage of Dan and Jamie I took whilst injured:
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/10765

yeah, so I've been playing a bit recently, really working on toast and wauxpin recently. It hurts to do a right clipper so I might give that one a miss for a while.

More video will be uploaded soon :D

I injured my ankle a few times and barefoot shred is easier on my ankle, when I play with shoes I have to heavily strap my ankle up which is a bit of a pain.

ok some video now:

yo janis!

I like your style, lots of unique moves, my fave is pincher->datw you hit that so smooth.

Incorporate the crazy stuff into your solid tiltless toe game, that'd be really sick to watch!

thx Mathieu :)

I had an epic 5 hour session today, learned 2 bag juggling and hit some new stuff. Spent most of the time practicing my busking/routine skills.
some highlights:
flapper kick set pdx mirage
5 barrages in the one run
toe ingyro mirage
some right clipper stuff :D
some epic long runs
was very close to ripstein and fairy ripstein but didn't hit either of them

hopefully I can post the video of my return from injury shreds before I go to Aussie nationals

edit: the return from injury shred video (16,29th December 2006) is being uploaded now, it will be up in a few hours

WOW you've really improved! And got shorter!

Wait thats Norek shred... Fix that link!

wauxpins looked good... maybe turning a little early for toast, but cool spinning toes none the less.
Some surprising tricks in there. sailing mirage, phasing clipper, fairy spining pinch... props

have you thought about sacrafising your hair to the ducking gods??? :D

thanks, that's exactly the sort of advice/comments I'm looking for :D

shreddaily wrote:have you thought about sacrafising your hair to the ducking gods??? :D
yes, but it earns the $$$ when I busk, after all non-footbaggers have no idea what a clean duck is but love the hair flicking around :P
but sure I'll wear a hat and do some better ducks soonish, I already know that most of my zulu/weaving is bad but I'll keep working on it.

So just got back from aussie nationals, good week in Hobart :) Did my first competitive sick3 and routines, the routines went well, I was happy with my semis routine. Also managed to hit a few new moves/links: pixie op dragon, double pixie legover (barefoot), flurry(barefoot), both clipper/toe barrages in the one run and a run with merlin and neutron smasher
