Nice highlights!
I'm at a similar point in my game right now, it's cool to see the same drills popping up in other people's blogs. One day I'll get good at pixies.

=D
Just read through the entire blog. Problem with trying to get cory footage is I'm usually in a "practice mode" rather than a "play mode" so I hit boring stuff and try to drill form to muscle memory..
Kyle is so good after 8 months... He's hit stepping, pixies, atomics, ducking, spinning, LIMP, infinity's, guays, osis, drifters, dlo's... & more...a lot of it from everything to everything.. Form is great.. Playing virtually every day.. Playing smart to avoid injury and have fundamentals that will lead to a strong guiltless game.. So glad he's in St. Louis........

Much appreciated words of encouragement sir. This coming summer will have so many great sessions.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
I've been to the gym twice this week, Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday, was a pretty cool day. The stair climber was empty when I arrived at the gym so I warmed up on there for five minutes and the eliptical for five minutes. The other leg equipment was occupied so I moved down to the gymnasium and shred for a little over an hour. Don't remember hitting anything new. I worked on stepping, ducking, diving, ATW, Pixie, BOPs. Broke my PR for ATW in-out x23 flip x8-10. Going to be working these records every session for the next few weeks.
Thursday the gym was even more crowded than tuesday. I warmed up on the stair climber for five minutes then did some kettlebell swings and went down to the gymnasium to shred. I felt a lot better this day than tuesday. I practiced mostly the same things Spinning, Ducking, Diving, Stepping, Pixie, Flapper, ATW, BOPs. some highlights below
Solestice>Pdx Mirage (Cause Nick told me I could do it, he was right)
Diving Flapper (probably my favorite flapper trick ive hit yet)
Ducking clipper x6 a few times
Diving Clipper>Ducking Clipper>Repeat to 6 contacts starting either side a few times
Spinning Clipper BS
Spinning Clipper x2 strong side
Diving Butterfly>Ducking Butterfly BS (Working on repeating it)
Started working on a couple new drills. I haven't made it through either yet but i'll be trying every session until I can. Diving Clipper>Stepping SS Clipper>Ducking Cipper>Stepping SS Clipper>Repeat and Smear>Pixie SS Mirage>Repeat
Edit: also hit Toe SS Knee Delay>SS Legover>SS Knee Delay>SS Pickup BSOS

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Anz told me that Atw and Orbits are the most important tricks in footbag. Either one of those are in almost every trick. They're very key, so keep pushing your record on them. Great highlights man.

Thanks Nick,
Another drill I added to my sessions that I forgot to mention was Osis>Diving Clipper>Repeat

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
It's been a little while since I've given any life updates in here. No real footbag highlights so if you're here for that tune in later.
I had a little back pain flare up over the weekend and beginning of the week. I went to the Chiropractor and he told me I have some stiffness in my top three lower lumbar which is causing them to move as one unit instead of three separate units. He gave me some exercises to strengthen the small and large muscles that surround those vertebrae. I've had some lower back issues since high school, mostly due to being so hard on my body in skateboarding and BMX, Footbag doesn't really help it and neither does working at a desk everyday. I'm pretty confident that I can reverse the damage through proper exercise and precautions since im only 24.
I am also on the first steps of getting enrolled in college again. I went to community college a year after high school from 09-10 and took some general courses, Gen Chem, Algebra, Oral communication, and composition. I stopped going to school for a few years due to some Psychological issues (Depression, Bi-polar, Drug addiction, attempted suicide). I have since had some tremendous emotional growth and haven't felt the need to take any medications or see any specialist in over a year. I attempted to take an online class last fall but wasn't really comfortable with the format and dropped it only a week or two in. Fast forward to last week. I went back up to the school and met with a counselor to see what I need to do to get back to work on a computer science degree. It's been 3 years since I've had any math education so I've been studying algebra all week for the placement test. I'll be taking that test and getting all my FASFA stuff started next week. If all goes well. I'll be taking a math (Trig probably) this summer and then signing up to retake Gen Chem and a math (Calc or precalc probably) in the fall. I cannot wait to get back to school and shake the cobwebs from my brain.
Thats about all. I've been stitching lots of footbags, consistency is getting better. Time to stop blogging on the clock and do some work.

One of the best decisions I have made in my life so far is to continue my education. So many doors have opened for me through that education. I think you have made the right decision. What are you interested in studying? I majored in Japanese language and culture, with a minor in computer information systems.Kylescook wrote: I am also on the first steps of getting enrolled in college again. My major at the community college will be in Computer Sciences. I'd like to transition into a Computer Engineering program after that. I've got a fair amount of interest in politics but it's really only because of my disdain for conservative thinking and the wish to move past it, not really any drive to study it.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Awesome, computer science will take you a long way.

Johnny Breakdown is flying into STL Today. Gonna pick him up from the airport then meet Cory for shred. Cant wait. 11 Days to Vegas.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Johnny came to town yesterday. Was a lot of fun to shred and hang with him for the few hours he had. He tried and hit Symp whirl bs for the first time which was cool to see(the camera cut off right after the first one so thats a bummer). Some other cool stuff was hit. Here's a video of all the highlights I was able to film.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Awesome! Looks like it was a super fun session! Good stuff from everyone. Interesting looking location.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Did some drilling on tiltless stuff today. hope you enjoy it. Bonus freestyle soccer cilp.
Edit: Music was pulled for copyright. bummer.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Good Stepping tricks. You should check out some football toe kick tutorials, you won't get very far in that sport without proper kicking technique, unless you want to stall the ball.

Thanks. I owe a lot of it to the people who have helped me along the way.Sporatical_Distractions wrote:I've seen some of your shred vids. Looks like you're learning quickly! It's great seeing people living footbag
Yesterday I went to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather. Played footbag for an hour. Nothing too exciting. Mostly just drills and tiltless stuff. Took a long break to get food and meet with some friends for a meeting with the coach. Found a cool tucked away little spot with some concrete benches and stairs. just enough room for footbag so I shredded while my friends watched and hung out. Hit Pheonix for the first time and it felt perfect. Only had one really good one. The rest clipped my neck or had sloppy downs. Going to work on tiltless and flip pixie, flip stepping, and spinning a lot when I get back from Vegas.
