I have the same issue with speaking fast. People at Worlds may or may not have noticed that.

I speak faster in general, but the problem is that I'm not particularily GOOD at it...so I tend to skip over consonants, run words together...it's not so good for conveying what I mean to say.

It's even WORSE with girls Tom, I feel for you. And yeah, if you're wondering, I'm having that issue currently. :?

i'm bad for slurring words together and that type of stuff when i'm excited, so i know what you're talking about.

you should watch the movie swingers. it brings it all into perspective. you gotta wait at least 2 days befor you call, other wise you might scare off a beautiful baby who's ready to party. but 2 days is like, industry standard these days, better make it 3. personally, i'm gonna wait 6 days...

if not for dating advice, watch tha movie simply because it's fucking hilzarious with a Z!

I also really concentrated on enunciation and clarity and proper diction tonight when talking to her. I moderated the flow of words well.

I can't believe I haven't been keeping up to date with the blog lately..

So much good stuff!

I really like the Postal Service too, I like shredding to them.

Good luck with the girl Tom!

You should tell me about your date with her on MSN right now ....and I think you soon will.

Tom -- I envy you. So, so much. Right on, dude!!! :D

I've got the exact same issues with girls as you, so just be slow about it. Don't overthink it, but you and I both know that's impossible. ;) And to chime in about the talking too quickly thread, I have the same problem, too.

OK, so I totally hung out with Liane tonight!

I think I may be too tired to type.

Anyone reading this will have to wait until tomorrow.

PS she is amazing.

I will write about footbag later on today.

Ok, so as I told earlier in my blog I had plans to hang out with Liane on Sunday.

I told her I would call her when I got into town on Sunday. Getting into town and getting to call her were events that did not wind up flowing smoothly into eachother as it turns out.

I got in to Kingston at 9:30 PM (I was on an 8:37 PM train  ) and since this was a popular choice among other student travellers there was a huge pile of us semi-stranded at the trainstation. Cabs would come flying in and move us out 4-5 at a time. I fiiiinally got a cab (I was one of the last) with a nice guy who turned out to be a civil engineer who was in town for some conference or whatever. What this meant was that the cab ride was taken care of by his expenses! woo hoo!

I got dropped off and I was in my house by 9:45. I realised when I was on the train that I had forgotten the little black book that contained Liane's phone number in Oakville. 'No problem', I thought, 'I have to call my Mom to let her know I made it to Kingston anyways, I'll just have her find it for me and tell me the number and then call up Liane.'

Well my mom couldn't find it! Arg! Of *course* this would happen!
I had her searching my whole house in Oakville until I had the idea that perhaps she could look on the phone I called with to see what numbers had been called recently. She wound up finding it and I was off to the races.

I called up Liane, she was still working on this big essay she has to do. She said it's due wednesday, it's ten pages long and she hasn't started writing it yet. 8O I couldn't imagine pumping out that much stuff in such a short amount of time. I guess technically she has started it since she has done a ton of research and she has alot of it done in her head... I know what that's like, sorta.
Anyways, I called her up and she was eager to come over and hang out.

Get this, she was excited to come over and learn about footbag!

She brought her own hacky sack and everything. She's so cool!

I hopped into my short shorts after showing her some movies to show her a bit about footbag.

We were chatting and kicking it around in our socks and to be totally honest, she was better than me at kicking it! Actually!

I mean obviously I could out-stall her but as far as control of the bag without shoes on she totally showed me up but I don't think she noticed.

She kept saying that she was no good and so on but I kept trying to encourage her. I had her trying toe stalls on both sides to get the feel for cushioning the bag instead of kicking it. She really looked pretty at home with the bag, it was cool to see. She was using a crocheted hacky sack and I explained the differences in hers and mine and why my 32's were 'optimal' yet she chose to keep playing with her bag.

I think she has real potential for footbag growth. She has all the general requisite tools for footbag. She is smart and creative, I think those are two fundamental skills that are absolutely necessary. She likes kicking a bag around! I suppose that is one requirement that is pretty elemental. She is in shape too, meaning there is no obvious first hurdle to overcome. I wonder if she will stick with footbag, I think I will have to get her to get some lavers and a proper bag. Fingers crossed, as usual.

I hope that she sticks around. I refuse to get my hopes up as I know that is one direct route to a broken heart. She seems really cool and interesting AND nice! Those things are so rare to find. It seems like she is really active in alot of ways. She is on various different committees and in clubs and groups and she has a radio show and she likes doing scary things.

We hung out for a little over an hour, she had to get back to her house to continue working on her essay. I hugged her goodbye and wished her a safe walk home.

I am really afraid of this whole situation. She has all the ingredients that I have been looking for in a girl. Like.. she really seems to be the girl Ive always wished existed and for that reason I am so scared of fucking up and having her hate me for some reason. I know I already have a crush on her, what if she doesn't like me like that? What if she absolutely does not want any type of relationship right now? What if I am not the type she is looking for?

But who could resist me? I do stuff, I am passionate about things, I have a keen fashion sense, I make lots of bad jokes and I make models ooze with envy.

I have to declare it before anything good or bad happens - I am willing to accept being her friend and not something more, she seems like a total keeper of a friend, I don't *need* to do her, it would just be nice.

I suppose she is probably the best catch I have ever met.. ever.

I havn't focussed on this side of things much at all but it seems worth noting that she is also probably the most attractive girl I have ever been around. She is stylish as fuck, she has a cute body with a nice round butt (absolutely requisite on my list). She is totally gorgeous too. Her eyes are stunning and her smile is vibrant. Her hair had red accents in it and the cut was super cool too. Her whole outfit looked composed, fashionable, functional and 'cool' in the way that I like clothes to be cool.

I didn't talk about how pretty she was because I thought that it may come across as vain to put alot of importance on looks. But in retrospect it is so unavoidable to have appearances be part of the equation. Had I not liked her cool outfit (aka her appearance) I would not have gone up to her and talked to her in the first place and I wouldn't have met her. Clothes say so much about a person. The ones they pick and how they wear them can be taken as direct metaphors for some aspect of their lives. You can't let it define them but it can still describe some facet of them.

Oh man, at the very least I made a really awesome new friend. I can't wait to hang out with her more and do more fun stuff with her.

ps I hit pheonix for her and she liked it.
pps I can't believe I had a footbag 'date' sorta!

Mr Mosher,

I am heading to KTown for Dec 24 - Jan 4. We should rally some folks for a KXMAS Shred, if you dig it.

oh yeah, this thing. :D

I have done alot of living since we last talked, blog.

Last weekend I got to shred with cool people from out of town. From Brantford came Johnny Superman, Atom C and his wife, imported from NY was the legendary Matt Cross and representing from Kingston was myself, Jared and Derrick.

So much fun happened, I love footbag people. Matt brought me my first ever pair of mesh lavers! wait! I didnt't pay him yet!! I just realised that!
hahaha, ok, Matt I owe you money now. Check this out, he found Lavers in NY for $30US which right now is actually only like $36.something CAN! HAH! take that stupid american dollar. Get this, it totally gets sweeter. So with each pair of Lavers that Matt bought (he got two, one for me, another for a militia mate Jared) he got a second pair at half price! so he wound up getting 4 pairs of Lavers for $90US. beat that!

I was so eager to mod them that I just slashed right into them when I first got them! haha. I totally cut two holes in both of them! I remember always dreaming of the day I would get mesh Lavers.

This is so huge for me, no one really understands it. Last year right around this time I was first just starting to get excited about footbag.

Tomorrow is actually my 1 Year Mark since I posted my first ever post on footbag.org. I linked to this earlier, but I'd like to share it here. This is my first ever footbag post in it's entirety:
This summer I first witnessed footbag being done properly. It had never interested me earlier in my life, but when I saw the beautiful fluid motions I knew I had to be a part of it.

I bought myself a sandfilled bag and began practicing. I wasn't ever really interested in kicking, only delays, so I honed them in real nice. I still hadn't ventured into this online world yet, but when I did I found out you guys have names for allll the silly things I'd been doing. ('around the world... ooohhh thats what Im doing')

Now I'm obsessive compulsively learning and getting better. I have my trusty Peewee (my Mr. Sandbag that earned his name by landing in a urinal) on me at all times. Any chance I get I practice.

Today (about five minutes ago) I landed clipper delays on both sides in one string. MAN it felt good!

I knew when I started learning that I should do it properly, so every trick I learn I learn on both sides.

I sure hope this bug Ive caught never goes away.

From reading these boards it seems like you are a nice bunch of people, and since I plan on sticking around for a while it's nice to know I'll have good company.

cheers,
Tom
Highlights for me:
- this was my transition point into footbag, I am glad I captured it sorta
- I think it is hilarious that I had 'honed them in real nice' when really I was still akwardly leaving my hacky sack stage
- I was already both sided obsessed! hah!

Anyways, so at Christmas I knew I was getting lavers, I had asked Santa, and I knew Santa had taken a business trip to Detroit and probably went shoe shopping because Santa needed to know my shoe size.

I was so excited, I was getting lavers!
I had read hoods house a million billion times in preparation for my new shoes. I even practice modded my skate shoes right around that post in eagerness to get Lavers.
So Christmas day came, I opened the one that was clearly lavers first. This was it, I was about ot have my very own mes..LEATHER?? lavers... 8O
They got me leather lavers... what a bittersweet moment. yeah.. I owned lavers.. sorta.

I didn't know how to react. I suppose I was crushed.. I didn't know what to say. I never really told my mom that what I really wanted was mesh ones. I didn't want to make her think that her efforts searching for them in Detroit were in vain. I love my parents so much. :)

So I went on Flipsider (I still didn't know about modified yet) and saw that someone (maybe Ellis?) had said that you could mod leather lavers just like mesh ones but in reverse. With this in mind on Christmas Day I modded my leather lavers and took pictures of it. From that I made the leather laver modification thing that appears on Flipsider!

http://www.flipsider.com/know/pages/gea ... modsLE.htm

Hahah, I was SO just making it up as I went and pretending I knew what I was doing! whee! I hope people learned alot from my BS!

Anywho, skip ahead to a few weeks short of a year later and you have Matt Cross showing up in my apartment like a belated (or is it early at this point?) Santa with two pairs of brand new Mesh Lavers! :D

Yay!

So we went and shredded at the university center (the same one that I shred in in my last video) for a long time. There were lots of passersby and lots of people asked who/what we were. People are so stupid and boring. How can footbag not melt everyones brains? So many people just walk by and think nothing of footbag! How can they not think footbag is the most impressive thing ever? I bet they are similarly thinking "those guys are stupid! how can they not thinkt that model parlament is the most impressive thing ever?"

Oh well, I guess everyone is cool in their own way.

uhh.. I don't know we played alot blah blah hit stuff.. nuke .. johnny and matt are good etc etc. (sorry, I have been typing this since I woke up and I am getting tired of this marathon... ok.. deep breath.. more blog!)

They left, it was sad, I hoped they would drive safe.

Matt stayed the night as planned.

We went to dinner around 6:30 ish.

*There is a huge insane part I am going to leave out here pending approval from Matt*

The part I am leaving out is fucking insane. I won;t give too much away, but I'll leave it at "I can see the matrix and I am in league with Jesus", that should suffice.

That night we were *supposed* to go to a party that Liane invited me to. We wound up being really fashionably late showing up at 1:30AM after much effort. It was amazingly laborious getting to her house (the reasons why are of course concealed for now) but once we got there it looked like the party had stopped.

We sat and thought about what to do for a bit, I took a piss in her alley and we plodded what to do next. I left a footbag I made in what I thought was her mailbox. I talked to Liane on the phone today and found out she didn't get the bag. I think I left it in her neighbors mailbox. oops!

Liane still seems really cool. I hadn't talked to her since uhh.. I saw her I guess until today. I am willing to let this one marinade and let it grow on it's own. It would be really shitty timing to try to do any courtship during exam season. There will be a new year upon us in January, I hope to see new friendships flourish, as will my club hopefully!

Speaking of my club! holy shit!

I had TWO shred sessions yesterday! (haha, and I am into my.. third hour of typing this blog now)

I shredded with Jared in a sqash court around mid day. We were both shredding in our lavers.

He is really coming along, he hit atw>op toe x 5 or something. It's so cool to see him progressing and getting into it. His control just keeps getting better.

I fucking hate my new lavers!

haahha. after all that waiting for them! At first I thought the right one didn't fit and I was going to need a new pair and I was all sad and shit. But then I realised I was a stupid moron who left the old insole in when I put the new one in!

Anyways, the lavers are so clunky and they have no grip and all my energy just gets pounded through them into the floor.

I am so used to my climacools that are like mini trampolines that have absurd grip on the floor. They give you so much confidence.

Anyways, I sucked.

I had a session later on with Derrick at school. We played in a lecture hall at the front. I hooked my MP3 player up to the PA and we shredded with full surround sound thumping out of the stereo! hah!

I played in my climas and it was amazing!! I was good again!!

FUCK YOU LAVERS! My body is too high-performance for that shit! haha or maybe I am too run down for to play in shitty shoes.

I can't seem to comprehend how any of you play so well in lavers! they have no grip! no bounce! NO GOOD!

FUCK!

I felt like I was starting to suck in the climas, then I tried my old lavers and sucked in them and then my new ones sucked too. I felt so lost and in a big shoe dilema. Now I am back and happy with my climas.

This whole stupid shoe debacle has motivated me like crazy to really do this whole footbag shoe idea. I have all these great ideas for the ideal footbag shoe and I seriously think I am going to go after this when I graduate.

In a years time I will be looking for junior engineering jobs at various shoe company's (adidas hopefully!) and then I will learn the ropes of the shoe world then blow all your fucking minds! BWAHAHAHA!!! I will go mad with power when all you fucking lemmings are wearing my shoes!

I don't even know what I was talking about..

I'm bored/done.

Take care all.

Until next time..

Let me tell you about Saturday!

I came home from Kingston on Friday. There were plans for a jam to go down in Brantford on Saturday but everyone except me and Johnny Superman fell through. So he hopped on a train early Saturday morning and headed for Oakville where I met him.

Something magical happened right before I headed out to get Johnny. I had put on a big fuzzy sweater I rarely wear as it was kinda cold in my house when I woke up. I must stress the sparseness of the wearing of this sweater, for I realised as I was taking it of that the last time I had worn it was the day I lost two footbags several months ago! In the left pocket was a brand new Mr. Sandbag that I had 'lost' and in my right pocket, to my shock and almost disbelief, was my beloved TRIPPIN SHEBOYGAN! He is the Felix that my Trippin with Trippin movie was named after as he was the bag we shredded with.

It was so odd because the day prior I was thinking about how I had to let those bags go emotionally in order to move on and then they came back. I love life so much of the time!

So yeah, we shredded! Johnny is always really impressive. He has a really powerful smooth style. He often throws down really long cool strings and occasionally he has an absurd one or two with fives all over the place and crazy links. He is a really smart guy, he is really thoughtful and genuinely nice, it's always so much fun hanging out with him.

We shredded in my garage and filmed a bit. I don't think either of us hit much amazing stuff on film. Johnny said he may make a Tom Mosher special since he didn't feel any of his stuff was useable, I would LOVE to see that if he did. I think I had one or two OK strings though I was playing really inconsistently. I like to see my progress documented. It will be really cool to watch all of my movies one day to see how it all flowed together.

Johnny brought a bunch of Suderbags that he stitched. They are all 32's and totally shreddable!! He has been stitching with Ultrasuede as he hasn't had the chance to get any Ultrasuede Light yet but his stitching is superb! The sides all look very uniform and the bags look professional all around. They are small and heavy and they lend to a very exact style of shred. I had alot of fun playing with them and the bags that I made. Speaking of which, I love the bags I make! I have been making slightly smaller Mr. Sandbag style bags filled with small aquarium rocks and they totally bust! It's so amazing to be able to go from raw materials and in an hour or two have a totally sweet bag, a THING you made from No-Thing, for you to use!

Fuck I love footbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of loving footbag and life, life is being a bit of a bitch right now.
I twisted my ankle tonight!
arrrgg! Alright! 2 for 2! This is the second damn time I have twisted my ankle before a tournament! hahah fuck!

It's not that bad, I will be shredding on it in a few days for sure. I was shredding barefoot in my TV room and I was trying Ryan Thomass' Jughandle and somehow the foot I was suppose to land on got twisted under me as I was spinning around down into the landing. It cracked twice as I crumpled.

We'll see how it goes, I iced it right away.

Ok, so there was almost some real cool excitement going on with the Liane stuff, but as I have come to grow used to, Liane takes her daaaaammnn time getting back.

She sent me an e-mail saying that she was sorry she didn't have time to hang out before she headed home. The exciting part was that she said she was heading home to Toronto so I happily envited her to come out with me to shred with Johnny in Brantford. Of course she never got back to me and so that didn't happen. I wasn't let down or upset because I know that she keeps saying she is interested and that she wants to play, she just lives a busy busy life.

What she did say however is that she has Thursday nights free all next semester and that she will be coming out to all my footbag club meetings!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Sigh.. life..

I have been hanging out with my sister alot, she is really cool. I have the most awesome family, I'd be jealous of me if I weren't me. My parents love the hell out of me, so does my dog and my sister and her awesome husband. Everyone in the family is a comedian and so laughter abounds.

I am sorry for not writing in this blog often, I will do my best to remember to write more often. A whole lot of crazy stuff happens that I forget to write about and I am pretty sure I would like to remember it.

Like.. like when I was shredding with johnny I ended a string with ps whirl on the side I have only hit it on once or twice. and and.. and I hit tomahawk! hah, never done that before!
