I haven't posted in here in a little while.

I suppose alot has happened.

Yesterday the big ontario shred at canada's wonderland didn't happen for me sadly.
You can read all about that here:
http://www.modified.ca/footbag/viewtopi ... c&start=20

I have still been playing alot of footbag everyday. I have been drilling double downs and they are finally coming along. I hit many paradons on both sides yesterday, barfly's still elude me. I will conquor them, I drill drill drill them like mad.

My felix bag is so choice.

It's raining out, sad face.

I have to call Carol about the bag I bought from her at worlds. I feel akward about it because essentially I am complaining about her shoddy work. Maybe I just got a dud but regardless I am still quite dissappointed in the bag she made.

I think tonight I will muster up the courage and call her again.

rar!

I can't quite figure out what is wrong with my barfly's. I think I need to attack the bag earlier and maaayybe a little faster. I am glad that the general motion of double downs makes sense to me finally.

More later.

moshman, i hear you about the bag man. obviously it wasn't a dud. i bought the other bag of the choice bags she had (you got the good one, i should have been quicker) and mine fell to pieces as well. felix even warned me about it, [finnish accent]"the stitching is very good, but the facile worries me. take good care of this bag, i don't know how long it will last you..." [/finnish accent] word for word.

Zach: almost all the panels have fuzzed up, all the purples and oranges and one of the shades of yellow. and many panels have holes and to add to all that one of the panels is already in the middle of blowing out.

It's real pretty though.

Oh yeah, and it's only had one small session EVER.

Andrew, I think she done ripped us hard.

Oh well, my felix is hein choice. It is the most supple insane bag I have ever felt, NO bag has ever felt so impressive in my hands.

And with this bag I played well today, here's my list of shit:
- five ripwalks, breaking my record of four
- bsos paradons
- bsos clip dlo's
- both side clip barrages

I love you footbag, goodnight.

I think I am in a typing mood, we'll see how this goes.

I am really excited about two things, one, I had a really good session today, two, I just found out that I MAY be going to funtastiks!!

I had this realization that it was achievable based on what I have lined up in my life for the next few days.

Ryan Seath was supposed to be coming to kingston to play footbag with me. Johnny Suderman has expressed a desire to come to kingston to do the same. He also said that if it is possible he would love to go to Funtastiks with me if I am going. Well, fast forward to today, Ryan has use of a van, and I have a week of summer left. I have to go to kingston tomorrow to move my stuff in (my sister is driving me up) and my plan follows thusly. I think it'd be effing sweet if Johnny hitches on with Anne and I and he comes up to kingston. at the same time ryan takes off from ottawa and we meet in kingston tomorrow for a night of hein shred in my loft!
Then the next day we all pack into the van and drive for 6 hours (not so bad!!) to Harrisburg PA.

Now I am still in the planning stages, but also the "go time" stages. I sent them both an e-mail declaring my intentions. They are both snuggled away in their beds all tuckered out while I am up scheming and planning hunched over my desk with dozens of spheres of technicolor liquids burbling away with gases and tubes abounding.

The way this works out in the dream in my head is that they wake up bright and early, check their e-mail, like most normal boys, and then see that they have an urgent message to call me.

Fingers crossed.

Ok, onto other news, I busted so fucking hein today, I am pumped to get to play with others and show off my newfound non-suckballsness.

I will update this with how it plays out.

Peace!

whoa! I havn't put shit in here because I have been too busy doing the shit that fits in here.

The funtastiks couldnt work because automobile restrictions so Seath came to Kingston (Johnny couldn't be found at all at the time) and he and I had a crazy fun time.

He and I arrived in Kingston at around the same time. I was coming up to school for the semester and he took a bus over from Ottawa. At around 9 we met up and then quickly found out I forgot my house keys and that my housemates weren't home. So we dumped my crap at a friends house, bid farewell to my brother-in-law and took to the streets for shred action.

We headed over to the supermarket parking lot and got warmed up under the lights.

We both wound up hitting a number of new tricks (me:atomic illusion, barfly bs, him: shit don't remember, see his blog, its good stuff) and we even busted them 'on camera'. I mean that in a 'sorta' kinda way. We busted them on the security camera at the front door. I keep meaning to go ask if we can have the tape!

The whole time we had been smoking bowls and at some point we munched some mushrooms. We had a good fun vibe going on and wound up playing almost all night all over kingston. I remember several times we were laughing so hard my tummy hurt and smiling for so long that my cheeks got sore. THAT is a good time!

On to now stuff.

I have been drilling hard every day and I think I am going through a footbag puberty of sorts.

in the last three days I hit all this stuff brand newly:

- bsos swirls
- pixie paradon both sides
- drifter>drifter
- fear bsos
- flip fudge (fudge was always my dream trick, this had eluded me for a while)
- 25 infinities
- 20 alternating toe kicks (shut up, this is huge for me)
- ducking butterfly's both sides (yep, hadn't done them before)
- ducking op toe, bsos
- pdx drifter both sides
- pdx torque both sides
- torque bsos
- porque both sides
- other pheonix (I don't really have a flip anything)
- fairy ducking butterfly both sides

Now I don't know the rules of these blogs but here is my plan. This is my little space to be honest and say what I really feel. And frankly my mind us fucking blown by all the shit I have been hitting lately. Also, fairy ducking BOTH SIDES???? what the fuck! I could only fairy on one side last week now I can fairy duck both sides. I don't give a fucking shit if this looks like I am bragging, dammit I am proud of how hard I have worked and I am really happy to see the progress.

I feel.. excited, more determined than ever, driven and happy most of all. I have been finding that I really like to succeed in life (haha, yep, i am the only one), by that I mean that footbag accomplishments feel a whole lot like when I do well at school. And I am constantly reminded "ooohhh yeahhh! hard work leads to achieeeevements!" and thats just the coolest shit there is.

Thanks for reading my thoughts, take care.

Tom,

You amaze me.

I really really need to hit a footbag puberty, but for now I'll be happy in the fact that you have and your game is exploding.

Thanks for the encouragement cole, we havn't had footbag chat in so long. :(

Two days ago I was talking to Johnny SuPerman online and he asked me about the choice shred spots in kingston and so I gave him this countdown:

tom mosher says:
give me one sec. I am going to write down in my notebook all the spots and
then try to rank them and then I'll give you a tantilizing top five
countdown of spots aiiight?
Johnny says:
k
tom mosher says:
ok, the list is made
tom mosher says:
i made an outdoor top five and an indoor one
Johnny says:
Lol. Hardcore.
tom mosher says:
they couldn't be compared, apples and oranges you see
tom mosher says:
ok, outdoor or indoor first?
tom mosher says:
haha, i like that you can appreciate a good shred spot
Johnny says:
Um. I'll go outdoor first.
tom mosher says:
okie doke
Johnny says:
And I agree with the apples and oranges comparason.
Johnny says:
*ison
tom mosher says:
The Outdoor List:
Johnny says:
Surprisingly this is exciting.
tom mosher says:
5) top of parking garage: it is open, spacious, flat, smooth, debris free
and to top it off it has a great view. i am tossing in as a combo to #5 the
roof tops you can access from the parking garage because I had them tied for
fifth. they are the roofs of the stores/apartments above one block of
princess, the main street in town
Johnny says:
I'm liking the combo.
Johnny says:
A view is always nice, and open and spacious a must.
tom mosher says:
4) The Lake: there are several spots along the lakefront that make for
scenic, natural and open shred spots. infact, if it is raining slightly
seath and I found a gazebo by the waters edge to shred in. there are also
often circle kickers sessioning here.
Johnny says:
Nice!! Do you get to session with seath a lot now?
The access to circle kickers is nice if you want to convert them.
tom mosher says:
3) Generic Queen's Campus spot that isn't one of the choice one's I have
selected as being in other spots, there are a large number of these: uhm..
I think I explained alot in the name of it. queen's has a beautiful campus
that is ripe with nice open spots, the most footbag oriented trials spot you
will ever see, hot girls EVERYWHERE and passersby that may be
interested/blown away by what we are
tom mosher says:
doing, this has been a good source for attracting potential shredders
Johnny says:
Potential shredders + hot chicks = good.
tom mosher says:
2) The Ledges: My main outdoor shred spot. I feel bad putting this one
second because it is so dear to me, but after having noticed #1 today I have
to do it. this spot is choice. it is between the main road through campus,
university street, and a nice grassy field with flowers and stuff. the
rugby team is often practicing next to me while I shred. there are lots of
passers and nice shade un
tom mosher says:
der the trees in the planters that provide the ledges for the skaters, hence
the name
Johnny says:
What surface?
Johnny says:
Leave top 1 indoor/outdoor until the very last.
tom mosher says:
smoooooth concrete. it is in big square slabs about... 12 feet on each
side.
tom mosher says:
it grips so well
Johnny says:
Score.
tom mosher says:
ok, to the indoor list!
tom mosher says:
haha, i love your idea too!
Johnny says:
It just builds suspense.
tom mosher says:
5) Any spare place in a residence hall: Guranteed to be found somewhere
and generally dependable as a good source of thin carpeted cement floors for
hein bustage. i only put them so low in the list for their generic-ness
tom mosher says:
(and I like the comments)
Johnny says:
Generic isn't always bad. Less distractions, so you can focus more on
shredding. Thin carpet provides grip, and a bit of cushion so its all good.

Hein bustage? With permission (of course) I'm using this in my everyday
vocabulary.
tom mosher says:
4) Squash Courts: On campus, easy to access, dependably good spot.
hardwood floors play well, really high ceilings, though i get distracted
easily and I get pissed off by the overhead fan. not for it's noise, for
that is lacking, but for its cooling nature. i get obsessed in trying to
play under the spot where the coldness hits and it distracts me. well. it
did a long time ago, i havn't shred
tom mosher says:
ded there in a long time
tom mosher says:
and to add to this spot (and almost bumping it to #3) is that in combo with
this spot is a) another good spot in the same building b) a swimming pool
with 1 and 3 meter spring boards and free swim time from 10:30-11:30 every
night
tom mosher says:
haha, hein bustage is something I just made up, use it freely!
Johnny says:
[hold on one moment for comment]
tom mosher says:
yep
tom mosher says:
I'll get to work on 3
tom mosher says:
3) My House: music, open space, 12 foot ceilings, food, drinks, showers,
beds, footbags, it has all the things you need to live. I think that sums it
up.
Johnny says:
Okay. Squash courts are the bomb! I like the lack of noise because I can
really concentrate on the sound and patterns of my feet while planting, this
really helps for schooling moves with weird footwork ie Backside Tap.
Cooling Fan is always nice if youre shredding hard, but it isn't very good
if all it does is destract. Who doesn't like to swim for free after a hard
shred to cool you off.
Johnny says:
Home shred is nice too. Everything in one convenient location. This is what
gives homeshred an edge.
tom mosher says:
indeed. though, i spilled wax on the floor and so I am afraid to play in my
big open spot for fear of ankle twistage. though I have a sweet shred
carpet i can bust on.
Johnny says:
Yea, beware the wax.
tom mosher says:
2) JDUC: The university center, sorta a nerve center of sorts for the
school. this is a very hussle bussly spot, but wait until 3 am and you have
the place to yourself to shred all you want. there are a couple great spots
in here. one with square tile floors and perfect lighting (no shadows!),
the other is a big open glass ceilinged area. to add to it's goodness is
that it is unlocked 24 hrs/d
Johnny says:
Necessary for late night shredding. Its hard to find a place with no
shadows, so congrats.
tom mosher says:
ok, these are the purebreeds. which would you like first?
Johnny says:
I can't choose
tom mosher says:
you have to man, it is your destiny
tom mosher says:
flip a coin?
tom mosher says:
let fate do it
tom mosher says:
I wouldn't know how to decide either
tom mosher says:
ok, I can help you maybe
Johnny says:
heads outdoors tails indoors.
tom mosher says:
ok
Johnny says:
Outdoors it is.
tom mosher says:
ok here we go:
tom mosher says:
The Number One Outdoor Spot:
Johnny says:
Cant wait..!
tom mosher says:
Stone Circle: paying homage to the glory of alexandria park is a small
enclosure of layed brick. a central circle with a diameter that is spacious
yet personal, it's edges are surrounded by green leafed bushes and even a
garden or two. it sits nessled in a nook where two buildings connect and
foot traffic flows lightly. This is the stone circle.
Johnny says:
Nice! I really like playing at alexandra sometimes. Its just too tranquil to
be in brantford.
Johnny says:
"Spacious yet personal" I love it!
tom mosher says:
ok, are you ready for the final spot? and in my opinion the true choicest
spot?
Johnny says:
I'll never be ready.
tom mosher says:
The Number One Indoor Spot:
tom mosher says:
MacIntosh Cory Hall: A 24 hour building located in the heart of Queen's
campus. it's floors are smooth, clean pollished tile. it's tranquility
makes serene look harsh at times. though it can bussle too! this is a
mover and a shaker of a building with classes happening day and evening it
can be quite active. though wait until 6 or 7 and you can find bountiful,
evenly lit, smooth yet grippy
tom mosher says:
shred spots. also, there is a whole wall of vending machines for night
snacks and during the day it has a full cafeteria. it is long and open and
a true choice spot.
Johnny says:
I can't wait to shred there.
Johnny says:
You make all the spots sound like heaven.

The End.

OK, again, alot has happened since I last posted in here.

I had a lovely weekend in Ottawa with THE Ryan Seath. We shredded like crazy and had lots and lots of fun in the beautiful city. We got together with Mat from Aylmer, QC on saturday and sunday and it was so sweet.

We filmed alot and everyone played really well. A video will be finished soon.

Thanks alot to Ryan for housing my broke ass for the weekend and for being a lovely hostess and breakfast cook.

Yesterday and the day before were days I have been waiting for for a very long time. It was Clubs Night at queen's where all the 200 something clubs set up tables and show off what their club is all about. I ratified the footbag club this year and so I was representing the last two days.

I got a LOT of people to sign up. I just played footbag all day and had circles going with random hacky sackers the whole time. I would freestyle on command for anyone that wanted to know what footbag was. People are really impressed by footbag, but not nearly as much as they were by the insane jugglers in the juggling club.

Speaking of which, I arranged with the organiser of the juggling club for us to have our weekly meeting time in the same place as the jugglers. We felt that they fit together well and people would have more fun from both sides of the fence.

ALSO I set up a forum just for the club. The way it will work is people can just go on it and say where and when they are playing and invite anyone to join. I really hope people get really into it.

Tonight is the first official club meeting, I think I am excited and nervous. I hope some people show. oh, and I found out I can talk about footbag while tiltless shredding if need be!

This weekend I am going to ROCHESTER to shred with the Rochester people. Matt Cross invited me down and there was no way I was going to miss a chance to shred with him again. He was one of the people I liked most at world's this summer. My friend Sandy and I will be driving down saturday evening after she gets off work and then we are gonna party with matt and co that night. Sunday is a hein shred day. Sandy is a filmer, we are shredders, no one gets left out!

I am SO pumped about everything going on around me, go life!

Thanks for the offer of floor space man. You KNOW that offer bounces back atcha.

ok, I leave tomorrow for rochester.

Excited = yes
I sure hope I can throw down.

I have been really working hard and I hope they notice.

It seems that lately every song I hear I picture how a footbag movie would look to it. I think my next movie will be good. I have alot of great footage from Ottawa that I am going to make into a movie and I have SO many ideas just from going through the footage.

I posted this in Sen's blog and I thought I would re-post it here because I liked it. He mentioned something called Mega Volley and encouraged people to comment, so I said this:

What is Mega Volley?

I'm going to make up an explanation for fun.

Mega Volley is a Swedish game that is played mostly in India. It is comprised of 81 players on each team. The point of the game is to race to see who can paint a fence the fastest, then the other team tries to break that time. There are 9 of these exchanges then they plunge into eight consecutive, break-free, hours of scarbbleopoly opoly hippos (a cross between scrabble and monopoly and hungy hungry hippos). At the end of all this the scores are thrown out and the winner is decided based on a single round of thumb-wars between each teams waterboys.

It's quite riveting to watch. Though as sen pointed out, most people just wind up playing volley ball instead.

Hi Tom Mosher!! I just read your entire footblog and I must say, I am so excited to meet you now!! (Tree planting, Dashboard Confessional...being the 2 things that made me go YAY, right away...) Erik told me that you were awesome and so psyched about footbag, and everything in general, and he was SO right!! I am so inspired to be more excited about stuff. I love when people say things like "go life" , so, go mister mosher!! :D

Anyways, I am going to be tagging along with Erik all weekend (obviously :) ) so I will be coming to "Erik Chan's Birthday" footbagging session, and I am excited to meet you! See you later and have a good day!

Oh, and P.S. Thank you for organizing a get-together for Erik's visit, I KNOW it means a ton to him, and it was a super thing to do.

Okay, so now that I have just gushed happy things, I will go.....and I look forward to meeting you.

whoa! I somehow missed Marita's post!

I had a great time talking to Erik on the phone. I always love getting to use footbag words and not having to explain myself. I am supposed to be meeting you guys in ten hours. Whoa!!! mama! I can't wait to meet you both!

The Brantfordians, Jon from Guelph, Andrew, myself and ERIK FUCKING CHAN will be playing footbag tomorrow. I am WAY excited! :D I really hope I do well and if I don't I will constantly remind myself to be a nice polite boy so that everyone else gets to have fun too. And if that doesn't work I shall goof off whole heartedly.

So I got a PM from Matt Kain, it went as follows:

hey Tom,

I've been meaning to ask you, what music is that in the Trippin with Trippin video? Whatever it is, that music rules (also, one of my favorite vids that's been posted in the last few months - can't wait to see more Johnny footage).

thanks
Matt Kain

I hope he doesn't mind me posting it here but I seriously can't tell you how awesome that felt! It's really cool knowing that not only do people see the crap I put out but they actually genuinely enjoy it!

There has been alot that has happened since my last post in here.
I have had two official meetings of the Queen's University Footbag Club.
Meeting #1 Turnout = 4
Meeting #2 Turnout = 0

Harsh.

I have still been playing everyday and hitting lots of new stuff. I haven't been posting in the new moves thread (well.. I did yesterday but I was REALLY excited it's not possibly my fault) because I was afraid of looking like a prop hunter.

I have been a bad student lately. All I ever want to do is play footbag and smoke weed. Seriously. I wake up.. figure out which class I slept through.. maybe go to one or two.. smoke weed.. play footbag.. smoke more weed... nap..

Ugh. At least I have been getting all my work done and I'm not really behind in anything yet. But I HAVE to change my ways. I am off to a really shitty start and it's scaring me. I hate feeling like I am out of control. I get so overwhelmed with things. My room is a perfect metaphor for my life. Infact it is somewhat of a direct representation of what my life is feeling like right then. The more I let shit get out of hand the more my room goes to crap.

I went to a hardcore show tonight. It was effing intense! My favorite band Darkest Hour was headlining. I have never seen them and Ive always wanted to. I have met the singer before but that was during a whole scary mano-e-mano type of deal where he was all "don't have sex with my girlfriend" and I was all " " or something. No.. I think I was actually really polite to him then. But it was scary and I had to lie to him and stuff. Tonight was awesome though, I went up and talked to him and shook his hand as though I am not really a slimeball.

OH!!!
AAANNNNDDD I didn't have to pay for the show!! I WAS ON THE GUESTLIST!!! I have never been on one before!!!!

I walked up to the lady and instead of handing her a tenski I was like "I am a guest of Darkest Hour" and I got in freeeeeeeeeee!

Wheeeee I could type all night!

aaannnd I'm done.

Sleepy time for tom.
