Whoa... Are you doing it like a torque, but infront of you (kind of)

That sounds sweet.

I don't know the name of it... though...

It would be a miraging refraction

If you do a miraging dyno, which is different from refraction, it would be called torquescrew

I have a question about my mirages. I find that when doing consecutive same side mirages I tend to rotate a little bit each time in the direction of my setting/stalling leg. After like 7 or 8 mirages its almost like going in a circle. Im wondering if i should be facing the same direction after each mirage or if its ok to end the mirage facing a slightly different direction than when you started the move.

yea thats what i thought. I have to focus harder on setting and planting in the right place. right now my left dex toe set mirage feels terrible. i know that its a matter of proper form and not speed but I don't know why that mirage side is severely lacking considering i drill it a lot more. Oh well, time to obsess over my mirage form and figure out how to hit this without it being stressful and awkward, oh and drill toe stalls out the ass too. anyways thx for the advice!

I do that same thing, but i don't really find it as a problem but more of how you hit consecutives. but it may be a little odd to watch someone spinning and doing mirages

Not exactly sure what your level of play is or how you're doing your mirages, so here are just some general things that people sometimes do wrong when learning mirage.

How high are you setting? You only need to set a little above knee height.

Are you setting straight up, or is the bag moving out away from your body? If you have to lunge forward you'll just make it harder for yourself than it needs to be.

How are your toe-to-toe moves in general (including toe stall> same toe stall & toe stall> op toe stall)? If you can't do toe stall> op toe stall consistently then mirage is going to be very difficult and frustrating.

WHY R THEY DIFFICULT TO BEGINNERS

Post by midnightmetallic32 » 04 Oct 2008 15:51

I've read many replys and one of my biggest problems i had with mirages was not being able to set the dexing foot before the other foot. If anyone is having this problem i suggest u set the bag lower and closer toward your body this makes for an easier mirage.

However you may have to twist your waist if you set it too close to yourself.

This is just how i do them though and they seem to come out pretty clean.

O yea and also remember to practice the motion w/o the footbag.

Do you have to plant your leg between set and dex on ss mirages ?

that i think is a matter of personal prefence with regards to style. i used to have trouble doing ss mirages with no plant, but i found it to be easier with the plant and so i've been doing them that way just to get the general motion of set > ss dex down.

Hey guys.
I managed to hit mirage twice today but im struggling to keep my dexing controlled. Rather than a tight movement my leg just wildly flales around the bag and I have to realy rush to get it back on the ground so I can stall with my other foot. Any tips on how i can keep it a bit more controlled?
Thanks :)

Try to think of the dex being around the back of your knee. The first couple times I did them I dexed with my ankle and they were pretty wild and out of control.

just out of curiosity, when you first start out, what is harder to learn, mirage or illusion?

I found illusions alot harder, the motion seems alot more awkward at first.

Mirage was my first trick, illusion followed way after; I believe it is the case with most players to find illusion harder than mirage. Flip illusion must currently be my weakest 'normal' 2 add.
