Hi.
I just started 2 learn quantum set over the last days and i managed
2 hit some of the basic moves like mirage, ss mirage, legover and butterfly out of it.
Now, i would like to learn more on how other people set, how to set
more efficiently ( quantum ducking !), and also any tips on how
to make the set symposium, would be highly appreciated .
Random questions : whats easier, merlin or quantum symp mirage ?
is there another name for ss tripwalk ?
does quantum ss mirage also get x dex ?
tips on frontside toe blur, anyone ?
One of the reasons for me to be all general and vague is to make this
topic an open forum for any type of quantum related questions/answers,
and to keep all the advice at one place - its annyoing and confusing to
have 10 topics for one trick/concept
Thanks for your kindness and wisdom, folks !

I find toe set downtime beta blur easier than the crispy version of that move and I refuse to use that name unless talking about King Arthur and the mythology surrounding him.
Quantum ss butterfly is called slapdown.
Quantum ss mirage does not get an xdex.
Frontside quantum sets are exactly the same as normal quantum sets for me - except I have to remember not to plant. I start my quantum dexes symposium anyway (but usually bail out) so they feel pretty much the same - just the symp version is harder on my knees.

why not? I thougt it would seeing that toe barrage gets xdex... wait now I have doubts. Toe barrage gets x-dex no?Quantum ss mirage does not get an xdex.
My tips for quantum:
- practice doing the set without the bag.
- lift your knee up as high as you can
- keep your feet close together when you're about to set
now here's the most important tip:
- once you'vre praticed the set without the bag, put a bag on your foot and try the set, pretend the bags not there, don't try and set the bag up, just do the movement you parcticed before. [note: this tip also applies to symp. quantum, symp atomic and symp whirling]

hmm, well I guess it depends on your definition of xdex. At this stage nothing officially gets x dex anyway. Under my proposed definition quantum ss mirage wouldn't get an xdex. Basically it's a consistancy and logic thing. X dex makes sense as being a continuation of pdx - ie. a far full dex (after another full dex). Also it would be stupid that blur and toe blur are both 4 adds, but toe ste ss mirage and clip step ss mirage are 4 and 3 adds respectivly. This would mean another problem that would need to be dealt with or another problem to complain about. Obviously it's very hard to debate which move is harder out of different moves - but you can compare the consistancy between moves.
that's the best advice I've seen in this thread.Cod wrote:My tip for Quantums: School superfast Pixies and then just do Quantums like Pixies from another Toe .
As for quantum mirage and eggbeater, if you can get the set waist high, and you can do those moves downtime, then just put them together. Get the components, and then just put them together.
BRICK!

I don't think you should school quantums if you don't have a flip pixie yet..cammel wrote:wow that was some amazing advice. quantum works great now strong side (too bad my pixies suck on the other).Cod wrote:My tip for Quantums: School superfast Pixies and then just do Quantums like Pixies from another Toe .

Eh, I disagree with that one. My flip pixie is JUST now getting fairly decent and I've been working on it (on and off) for a year at least. Quantum I had down midstring the same day I attempted it. Probably because it's so much easier to clean, and the movement is easier to produce midstring. For me at least. Quantum really is the easiest set I have, but it may just be because I was a natural at them.
My advice for quantum would be to learn atomic, then try to do the same type of jump-dex motion, but throw your leg over the bag like they do in the video for it on www.hoodshouse.com

don't know much about quantum theory, but for slapping, it's really all in the wrist. It helps if you hold her hiney steady with one hand while the other does the work, some people like to switch it up but IMO that's just showey and ends up being messy half the time, better to just keep it simple.
A common mistake is to go too hard/fast, that's not pretty for anyone. You don't need to swing that hand back too far, she only wants a light tap right? Unless she's into that kinky sh!t and then it's all over before it's begun. Keeping it to about a 10cm swing works for me.
Playing Akon's 'Smack That' helps me keep a good rythym going too, and can really get you both into the swing of it.
Hope this helps.

My biggest tip on quantum is SET CLOSE to your body. If you set it too far out you'll either slap it with your leg, completely miss the dex, or not be able to do anything out of it.
I like setting my quantums closer to my body than any other move. Try it.
