My Feet Hurt :(

Post by sonofgenkai18 » 24 Feb 2009 20:58

So I've been having this problem a lot lately...

I have almost every type of standard shred shoe (except Climas) and I love them all and I try to kick with them all equally...

My problem is that my feet always hurt when I kick, the shoes are all the right size and I have Spenco total supports in my Q3's and Low Pros. in my Lavers.

Would changing between shoes (Camo Units, Lavers, Q3's) and insoles cause this? Any other tips to stop this? ...it really kills my motivation to kick. :(

what part of your feet hurt?

is it a sharp pinching pain or a dull pain?

thicker/thinner socks?

The pain that really gets to me about a half hour in is on the insides of my arches.

It starts fairly dull but again, after a half hour or so it gets very sharp every time I land even simple moves.

I play mostly on my toes so I don't think it's just impact pressure on my feet. :?

I use thick Adidas and Jocky socks.

Have you tried it with out the Spenco's? Try a session without it and see if it hurts.

well, I didn't Spenco's in my Q's until recently becasue my feet hurt...I figured they might help...but no luck.

I did session yesterday in my Q's with the Spenco's for about 45 minutes and I was fine... this is so confusing.

I get pains on my arches as well, well into a half hour of a solo session or so sometimes. What I think is not a problem with the shoe (especially with a flexible sole like the Quantum) or an insole brand like Spencos, but how you land on your feet.

Say if you land really hard on a symple or symposium trick, where most of your weight is shifted mostly onto one foot, I think it matters where and how you land on your feet. If you slam your feet really hard, not on the ball of your feet but generally around the area where the ball and arch meet, that's where the pain in the arches derive from.

I'm being slightly skeptical about this, but this is what I think the pain in my arches come from. I wear orthotic Spencos, and the only time I feel pain in my arches is when I land really hard on my feet that does not directly meet with the core resistors that are there (which is typically around the ball of the feet). If I play lightly on my feet with as little suspension and compression in my footing, while playing on the ball and toes of my feet, this ensures that I won't feel pain around that area and I won't over-exert the core resistors in my feet that help balance my weight properly.

Also, if you lace your shoes extremely, EXTREMELY tightly before a footbag session, that can also lead to easy feet injury (due to the constriction of the laces). Maybe that can be a factor in arch injury as well.

If this happened to me I would almost certainly go see a medical specialist of some sort (presumably a podiatrist or some kind of sports physiotherapist). There are all kinds of things that could be wrong including stress fractures and playing while you're hurting could be doing irreparable damage to your feet, which can be useful for other things apart from footbag like sexual fetishes and walking.
