wrapping ankle

Post by forgetmenot220 » 28 Feb 2006 14:48

Hey, I'm new the forum. I saw there was other posts about ankles, but I didn't find the answer to my question.
I have a semi "weak" ankle from a sprain in highschool (about 3 years ago). I just started kicking and during my first session I found that my ankle wouldn't last as long as I would have like it. I saw on another post some stretches that I may try (in moderation), but I was also wondering if it would hurt me to try and wrap it :?: I have done marching band and wrapping my ankle during rehearsals always worked out. Though there was high strain on my ankle during those rehearsals I understand that shredding is a bit different.
Thanks!

Also try some resistance style ankle exercises involving that rubber tubing stuff or the elastic bands. gotta strengthen the muscles around the ankle to help support it better.

it would also depend on how you wrap your ankle, there are many different ways to wrap the ankle with many different support styles, you can wrap it depending on were it hurts ;)

That's interesting, I didn't know that. It hurts on the inside on the inside...side? of my ankle right on the bone.

Any advice for how to wrap it or how to do some strengthening stretches?

Thanks!

Check out this page for some good ankle strength exercises. There's more footbag health info on that site, if you poke around a bit.

Thanks so much for the link, I took a look at the page and it looks amazing. I'll def. try those stretches after I buy some tubing.

Thanks a bunch!
