Footbagging bad for the body?

Post by Brandon1337 » 03 Apr 2008 13:16

Just got back into footbagging and I was reading the injury thing and that sort of scared me. Is there really that many bad things?

what is this 'injury thing' you speak of?

I'm not a doctor, merely reporting on my experiences
As for me personally, I think footbag is great for the body, it's a physical exercise that people can enjoy, and mentally, the endorphines released while playing allows me to get the adrenaline rush I seek.

Footbag got me interested and inspired as to what my body can do and I began weight lifting and working out more shortly after taking up Footbag. Though you can sometimes feel the impact the stress has on your feet, knees, shins, back, ,etc I think the pros outweigh the cons.

'Bout two months ago I sprained my ankle while shredding, it's still a little swollen, but you can sprain your ankle simply by walking. Even after the incident I'm able to run longer distances and still improve my game because I push myself.[/i]

Sorry for not searching it was a spur of the moment deal. And what I meant by thing was just the whole health and injury string of the bored is riddled with reports of injury and body noise (Pops and what not)

Name me any sport that doesn't have injuries. Soccer has shin splints and ACL tears. Running has common injuries in all parts from the hip down. Bodybuilding is riddled with rotator cuff injuries. Skiing has knee injuries. Basketball has ankle sprains and knee injuries. Football has concussions and shoulder injuries.

So if you're afraid of getting hurt once in awhile, sit on your butt all day. It's the safest.

life is bad for the body. It ALWAYS a fatal endeavor.

Footbag may be bad for the body, but it's good for the soul and the mind (and arguably good for the body in a temporary sense).

Don't hunch over.

Don't bring your knee inwards for whirls.

Don't attempt tricks you're not ready for.

If you're in pain -- STOP playing.

Drink plenty of water.

Stretch.

Post videos and ask pros for help.

Follow these rules and you'll be fine.
