What's your weight?

Post by defenestration » 24 Jul 2010 12:06

Just curious what the weight distribution is like among the footbagging population. Got back into playing recently after multiple years off and the last time I was regularly playing I was about 185-190 pounds, now that I'm up around 210-215 it is a LOT harder on my joints and ankles. Personally I'm not interested in losing any weight and I am actually planning on gaining more weight up into the 225 area. (not fat weight)

Particularly curious about how many other 200+ lb footbaggers are out there and how you deal with the extra joint stress. I focus on playing very smoothly, I use spencos, and I am currently looking into finding a decent and portable shred mat. I am also finding that sticking my legs in ice-water after a session is pure jesus. I should probably also do shorter sessions more often (30 minutes-hour each day), but am currently doing 2-3 hour sessions every other day.

Back in 2007 I weighed 170. Then I was playing a lot more and started getting bigger to where I was 190.

Now after I have had multiple injuries that kept me from playing and working out I weigh 230. I have been playing a lot recently and my joints an muscles feel good. I have always been a bigger guy so my body is used to it.

I have played 6 times this week and have been eating smarter (and not drinking as much beer) and as of today I am 221. I am trying to lose some weight, because if i do everything will be a little easier for me.

I weigh 180.

I'm also 6 foot 4 so i'm quite thin. I'm actually one of those guys that struggles to keep weight on as oppose to lose it, i'm down from 192 when i quit working out to finish school.

I owe footbag alot in the shedding weight category. I weighed 215 at my highest point and am now down to 165. Since starting it up I've lost 50 pounds and I would lose more if it makes it easier to do the moves. For sure I can make longer runs than when bigger but I think weight is something you adapt to. Kinda like a different shoe.. Sure it's hard at first but it gets easier with practice.

6'2" 185, been thin my whole life. A year ago I weighed 165 and got serious about weight training. Was up to 190 for a while but since I started running (still weightlifting) I lost a little) Footbag has definitely been easier on the body being stronger with more muscle mass.

Five seven, 130 lbs.

Since I'm exactly 130, it was hard to know which bracket to put myself in. I don't understand why the fields overlap like that.

5'10" 190
Before footbag I weighed 280+. Footbag helped me shed pounds then I got injured and stopped playing for like 5 years. when I stopped playing I weighed 230. I got a phisical job and brought the work ethic footbag tought me. Now I'm back in the game and am down to 190. I still have a way to go before I would consider myself thin but footbag this time around was alot easier on my joints and alot easier in general.
I like to play.
I want to play good.

Good for you, Dan! That's pretty motivating!

I'm 6'.5" and weight about 185-190.

Was overweight in junior and high school, then got my act together after finding footbag, at which point I got down to about 172. Now I lift consistently and have put on more weight

Footbag is pretty much the way I stay in shape, aside from a little kayaking here and there.
