New Coldplay album

Post by Muffinman » 22 Jul 2008 09:11

Have you guys heeaard this?
This is the only song that I have ever heard in my life where I was sure -- listening for the first time -- in the first, like, 3 seconds of its spectacular magnificence! And I'm not a huge Coldplay fan or anything.

I think it's a huge improvement over their old stuff. The addition of Brian Eno as producer was the most innovative idea IMO. If you have listened to any of his work you can definitely hear his influence some of the new songs are very haunting as well, which I greatly enjoyed. There are definite and obvious harmonic and rhythmic developments as well. I think it comes highly recommended.

Oh yeah, the production is awesome. In terms of my personal appreciation and how many times I can listen to it before getting sick of it though, I prefer their old stuff.

But yes, extremely well made.

I just re-read my earlier post and it's pretty misleading...

Brian Eno as producer for a mayor rock band innovative? Seriously?!

The guy is definitely a genius but he has produced for so many big rock acts.
For ex: U2, John Cale and David Bowie.

I think his sound is too well recognized.

I also think what I heard from the album this far has been pretty boring.

It's cool that somebody else enjoys it though.

If they should done something innovative they should have collaborated with a more upcoming and contemporary electronic artists.
Burial would be pretty cool! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burial_%28musician%29
Or maybe get the album produced by Modeselektor!
