Post by jbalexdarkelf » 19 Jun 2006 06:48

I dont really know where this topic would fit, so I put it here.

Im goin to florida in a couple of days for vacation and since Im flying, will the bb's inside my footbags set off the metal detectors? I know some of you guys travel, so I figured I'd ask you all.

Thanks

I had like 6 bags on me on my way to CSS and it did nothing. I really doubt it, and even if you have a problem I think you could tell them.

Oh! And I had like a pound of steel shot comming home, and that did nothing in my backpack.

yeah, chuck them in through the X-ray machiene. They'll see that there's no explosive material, in the bag, so it shouldn't be a problem. They'll also see the bag it's self, so you should be right.

i flew to santa cruz with 3 32's in my backpack, all you have to do is put them through the metal detector and there will be no problem, all you have to do is put them in one of the trays that they make you put stuff in

its cake dont fret man your bags are safe ;)

Yeah, seriously... technology today.
The X-ray that (usually) scans the stuff you put in the tray has an amazing amount of detail. I believe it's even colour coded with regards to different types of materials, and the depth of radiation can be adjusted so that they can see different layers of stuff, too.

I'd honestly be more concerned with your airesol deoderant - make sure it's got a cap on it. I've had my bag opened by officials, just to make sure.

i had a security guy totally inspect a hackysack i had in my pocket cause he thought i might be hiding drugs in it.

but seriously, if the footbag has metal in it, it can set of a metal detector. if it has no metal in it, well than it wont :!:

The only thing that would frighten me in these searches is when I bring my stitching kit along. Y'know, sharp scissors and all. :?

Yeah totally, I remember at one of the milo demos when I had had like 2 hours sleep and was catching a plane at 6 am and had scissors on my carry on bag and had to go back to the ticket counter and check my bag in because I didn't want to throw away the scissors and then beacuse I was so tired I lost my ticket which was actually in my pocket and I thought it was in my bag that I'd just checked in and had a panic attack. Functioning on 2 hours sleep a night is not cool.

I don't know about the security in the US but in Australia it isn't a problem if you set off the metal detectors anyway - they run the scanner over you and then you pull out your keys and shit and put it through the x-ray thing and walk through again until you don't set it off. - Unless you have something you're trying to smuggle onto the plane with you - then setting the scanner off is a problem.

if you dont want to take chances, put them in your luggage(the bag that isnt the carry-on) with your clothes and stuff before you check your bags in.

Haha, when I went through the metal detector before getting on the plane to orlando, the two footbags I had set it off. It was cool though, I just had to put them in one of the little box thingys and when they went through the xray thing the guy on the other side working the xray said "Give the guy back his balls" and then he was like "Did you make these yourself"
