I've had my Ben Rea bag for a while now (I won it in his first contest!) so I think it's time for a review.
When I first got it, I was really surprised at how small it was. Smaller than a lot of 32s, which is great! It was just as soft as a larger 32 as well.
When I was hand rolling it I noticed how deep he stitched, which I think is the only problem with the bag. It makes it a bit rolly. When it breaks in completely it's not as much of a problem, but it's still more rolly than some of my other bags. The filler is pretty good. I think it's steel shot, size 7.5 or somewhere around there. Hard to tell since you can't take filler out of the bag.
Maybe a little bit overfilled, but nothing to complain about.
The stitching was quite consistent. Ben has a quality product, but I do believe that a decent 32 is in a different category than a good 12 panel (which is what this bag is).
Thanks a lot for sending me one Ben, I really appreciate it!

i traded for a ben rea bag, and i have never looked back
.
seriously though, a really nice bag.
i for one really like bags with medium to high gather. i put a lot of spins and flyers into my game, and so depend a lot on the way the bag pops off the foot and the predictability of its flight in the air ... and i really enjoy the way this bag plays. i found the percentage of fill and the weight of the bag good, even though at 55 grams, it is heavier than i would normally use.
that said, i could see how more hardcore freestylers could have trouble with the bag rolling a little though, although this may improve once the bag breaks in more. apparently, ben has responded to player feedback, and is now making his bags a little bigger than the one that i have ... i feel that this will go a long way to minimising roll. because ben stitches with such a high amount of gather and a fairly heavy weight, i can see how expanding the bags size should enable the bag to keep its consistant shape whilst becoming less rolly. i hope you stick to the gather you use, because it seems to help the bag set and flight more like a 32 than any other lesser-panelled bag that i have used.
this is my first taste of a ball bearing filled 12-panel and i'm definately enjoying my time with this bag

Hey Ben you ever think about using Amaretta for your 12s? Dude I'd sell my soul for one of your bags if it were EVEN SOFTER and amaretta-ish. And um. Could you make me one that has green and black panels?

yeah I brought it but we were mostly playing with a Clavens Amaretta and Doug's Cross bag. Matt wasn't there. I think he just got back from London like yesterday or something.

I got one from Chris Miller... Shredzilla. But umm can't you just buy a little of it? I don't know much about buying fabric cause I rely on Richie Abshire so much for bags
