Dawn of the Shred DVD Trailer

We should have finished by February 20, 2009. A few details are needed to be worked out in how exactly we're going to distribute.
Alright so I've been lazy with the updates, but so far I decided to search for help, and now I am currently in Boise, ID with Zeb helping me out. This is a big deal, as Zeb knows a lot more than I do, and we've been working hard for good links, and clean edits. This means that we're starting from scratch, and what you saw in the DVD Teaser, is going to be blown out of the water from what we've started on. But the trailer will speak for itself.
So now the DVD is going to be presented by an EZ Production.
Here are the tournaments that are featured in the DVD:
SoCali Jam 2008 -finished 1/1-
Chaos Green Cup 2008 -finished 1/1-
Montreal Spring Jam III
US Opens 2008 -Finished 3/3-
Worlds 2008 -Finished 1/1-
New Years Jam 2008 -Editing part 3/3-
Las Vegas Jam 2009 -editing part 3/3-
Note:
This does not include extra side footage from non-tournaments
Holding/sold copies for:
Jay Boychuck (purchased/paid in full) - copy picked up
Joshua Raye (purchased/paid in full)
Erik Chan (purchased)
Eoghan McDowell (purchased but refunded since the DVD Teaser was a prize)
Mr. Bear (purchased/paid in full) - copy picked up
Zach Jahner (purchased/paid in full) - copy picked up
New Years Jam Prize:
Circles 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Intermediate 1st -prize
Sick 1 1st - prize
Sick 3 1st - prize
--------------------
Here are some questions that I have been asked. Just to let you know Zeb came in mid way with the project and I don't have the time to worry about exactly when I should use I/we. But all in all I consider Zeb a huge deal in the project and would like to thank him so much for the help.
-If you would like me or Zeb to answer a question please email ericzebproduction@gmail.com.
Question: Why did you decide to film/edit?
Reply: Simply Eli made me want to film/edit. His footage of shred provided me with an inspiration to footbag, but later his art style inspired me to film and edit.
Question: Can I still purchase the teaser DVD, and get that phat deal?
Reply: No, sorry it was a short amount of time to save up for another tournament or in this case a plane ticket to Boise, ID so Zeb could help me out with this DVD. (Which help fund part of New Years Jam, and paid for gas at the Vegas Jam) So in away, I guess these might some day be collector's item .
Question: Why not release the footage for free? (Basically the person made it sound like I was trying to be rich off of footbag).
Reply: I spent money to fly out to 7 different tournaments and look at the list. To be honest I'm lucky I'll make any money out of this to go to another tournament. I don't see a problem with high quality footage, that I spent filming. I have already amassed easily 100+ hours of footbage. So that means on my mini dv tapes I need to upload roughly 85+ hours of footage from my mini dv tapes. The other 15+ hours of hard disk drive footage is uploaded.
Then I am going to have to sit through the footage, watch and evaluate 100+ hours of footage. After that I need to search for music, fonts, and ideas of what to do (which I do daily whenever I can). From there I can begin to edit the footage and rewatch over and over and over again. I spent roughly 40+ hours just on the DVD teaser as I had to learn and find out how to do what.
So a quick tab.
100 (rough rough estimate)hours footage
88 hours uploading (hard diskdrive doesn't take that long)
100 Rewatch footage (minimum)
40 hours editing (for teaser)
-- editing (I decided to start a new)
328 Hours(roughly) and the project just started. This is not even including the time to get to the tournaments, spent at, and time lost at shredding. I'm sorry if the price of 25-30 dollars seems steep, but I aim to make it feel like its worth buying. But like stitchers, I'd like some small compensation for all this footage.
Also if you noticed, I'm never going to make my money back nor do I intend to. I just want to make enough to go to another tournament, and maybe inspire some kid to footbag.
Question: Why might up and comings be left out?
Reply: This is a DVD that I am trying to market to footbaggers, and I want them to feel like every cent they paid for is worth it. So I heard a lot of complaints about intermediate/novice players taking up some space, so unless the run was epic . . . sorry can't fit you in. When I get time, I'll make a up and coming video to be release for free online. This is all pending, and we'll see what decision Zeb and myself come to.
Question: What is the point of this DVD?
Reply: Really, its one of the few huge projects in my life that I've taken upon myself to do, and keep trudging on despite set backs and what not. So its a big deal for me to finish this, and would bring me a sense of accomplishment once its finished. Oh yeah, also Jay Boychuck a good friend of mine was so excited at the idea of this that its kind of my gift to him. Not to mention I'm trying to make this something people want to watch, and utter in the same sentence as all the other great footbag dvds.
--------------------
People to thank (credited later)
Steve Goldberg - Supplying me with two nice cameras, helping me with the sport, and always pushing me in the right direction. Oh yeah and footbag.org
Zeb Jackson - Helping putting both our ideas into editing to make something we're both proud of.
Jay Boychuck - Without his support, and enthusiasm I probably would have never even considered taking this project.

Everything is coming a long nicely and I think more than likely I'll be able to have a decent version to sell!
So far the hardest parts have been deciding what runs go in, and what do not. Also not all the songs I had in my head are working as well as I hoped.
Not to mention I think I raised the personal bar a bit with the trailer , but hopes are high that people like this!
Update: (so you don't have to read through)
Cost: 10 USD and to be sold at NYJ and Las Vegas Jam!
-Cover art confirmed
-SoCaliJam 08 (rough but ready for release)
-Chaos Green Cup 08 (files are corrupt and can not access them as of right now)
-Montreal Spring Jam III (missing a goo 1-2 hours of footage but still have plenty, rough but ready for realse)
-US Open 08
Portland Square - (rough but ready for release)
Portland Park (where the tournament was - Going to merge with Portland Square footage, as not enough to be its own video.)
Water Temple - A lot of epic footage to sort through so having problems find a song that fits, and what goes in and doesn't.
About 6 minutes of the footage is just silly moments, and the rest of the 20 plus minutes are nice shred, and simple edits (nothing too much or extreme).

Back on track, managed to save most of the footage currently re-rendering my files and going to burn the first copy for the Stanford club to preview .
Lots of bumps in the road, but hopefully this will be the last.

Rendering files, and about to start burning the first copy!!!!!
I am thinking of numbering the copies for fun or something. Glad that this is almost over.
The DVD is roughly almost 30 minutes, and I'll try to sneak something nice in there before NYJ.
Also going to add a trailer of worlds and maybe chaos green (if I can get to the darn files)
Should I add routines to this if there is extra room? If so which ones?
Cheers all

Montreal Spring Jam III is going to be taken out, not happy with how it turned out and its not worth watching right now.
So all in all the DVD will be.

Modified Christmas Day 2
For 10 dollars as my test run, and to get funding to get everything else running.
I decided to drop the demo's case and printed cover, since its going to cost more than I thought it was going to. So all in all the DVD is going to be made. I'll try to make this up to people and what not in the main DVD.
Cheers, and if you have a problem with price or really feel unhappy with the demo DVD please talk to me and I'll sort it out.

The DVD is really awesome. We need more footbag videos like this. Like the good old days, when people went to multiple events, and edited dope footbag together. I like how you at the beginning you included up and comers. I think stuff like this brings about a sense of community in our sport.
Nice work, Chang.

Just want to confirm here which list it is? As I understand from your posts the second list was just for pre-release. But from the first list you're scrapping "Chaos Green Cup 2008"? Update-
US Open Finished:
Pioneer Shred/Portland Park(where we held the tournament) shred cut out all intermediates/up and coming players -Finished
Water Temple I - Finished
Water Temple II - Finished
To be honest the editing in Las Vegas Part I and II is amazing with amazing shred, but Water Temple II right now might be taking the money. The footage is intense, the place is legendary and the song we picked was almost perfect. Hope this gets people excited. We're already at the 30 minute mark(of pure shred) and still have Montreal/Worlds/New Years Jam/Extra to go through
