paradox x-body rake?

Post by Xain » 27 Aug 2005 05:44

The other day I hit ps mirage for the first time, and as I did it a few more times, sometimes it felt more like a far x body rake. So I wonder, since ps mirage is a 4 add move, if it ends up being more like a far x-body rake do you lose an add? or it paradox so you get the add anyway?

There is no dex in crossbody rake (unless you do a dex into it), therefore it cannot get pdx add, so it is only 3add.

So if you do a ps mirage wrong, you lose an add?

I think that it's obvious and rational, isn't it?

rational maybe, but sometimes it can be not so obvious where it stops being a symp dex and starts being a rake.

I have the same problem. I'll be practicing my mirage and other baseline moves, and whenever I do it, I think, "X-Body Rake" rather than mirage. If you pivot your body in mid air, it looks like an xb rake rather than a mirage. And sometimes I pivot my body because I placed the footbag wrong and I have no other choice but to pivot in mid air and then rake it. Either way though, it's still moving around your left/right leg so... Because it's starting out in front of you on your right foot, and then landing back on your right foot in the back after going around the left foot, so wouldn't it still be a mirage.... SO CONFUSED.

well it depends where you catch it... If you catch it on your toe behind your your left leg and rake it through, it's xbd rake. if you dex the bag with your left leg, and then catch it in front, it's a mirage. if you catch it *under* your leg... it's 'the' and which trick you 'the'd depends on what you were trying to hit.

My PS mirages are sort of similar... but I only just started doing them (very little) and I don't count it unless it's clean and caught in front otherwise it's 'the'... cause it's easy to 'the' and ends up more like a xbd rake as you said. You just need to work on your PS mirages, make them cleaner :)

I made that argument a long time ago when I hit stepping far symp rev. whirling xbody rake. I was arguing that there was a dex, a symp dex at that, and it ended in the same toe as a ps mirage. Since far rev. whirls are not pdx, neither is the move, even though it starts and ends exactly like a ps mirage with an even harder dex to clean. That was my attempt at a 7 the same time Dave hit Gauntlet.

Alas I lost that argument.

According to our current system rake is a dex. It should be a body add imo.

If it is a dex, then I am in the Quad Club hahahahahaha

Pixie Paradon rake
blurrier rake
blurriest rake

But I too consider it a [bod] add.
