I love using hopovers/reverse hopovers even though i suck at them....The other day i hit far reverse guay>hopover>reverse hopover>run....it felt pretty friggin sweetzeroman13 wrote:Troyson wrote:I also love doing wrap/reverse wraps/ inside rakes and crap like that. Im not sure why so many people neglect using their insides
I love doing wraps into runs. I think they're stylee!
How about hopover? I haven't really seen many people use it. This is another move that I like to do!
I think many of the moves mentioned are actually "understandably uncommon"
But I think another surprisingly uncommon move is tapping pickup. - I can understand why the other set pickup moves are uncommon (difficulty vs adds and people's aim of progression) but why don't you see tapping pickup ever? Atomic sets are fairly common and tapping pickup is an easy move - but hard enough not to be seen as add hunting? I hit magellan all the time and that's easier. I will hit tapping pickup more often.

Hehe Jeremy's comments relative to my last session in Berlin are interesting.
As Mathias pointed out, Jakob did dimwalk swirl and parkwalk swirl both bsos in os and in that same session I did tap>tapping pickup rpt.
I am working on wierding out my style now that I am confident enough to do so.

Yves often does pickup tricks when he shuffles, especially tapping pickup and stepping far pickup. May be that's where you got the idea Tom..
some other relatively uncommon moves/concepts :
spinning pickup (I think I never tried/saw that move)
pixie ss illusion/drifter/torque
fairy ss illusion/butterfly
weaving
ducking/diving/zooloo legovers/illusions/pickups
so many flails, but so few pdx flails...

Just to be clear, this topic is not about moves that are uncommon - it's about moves that are uncommon that you are surprised at their unommonity. Also I just invented a word.
For example the reason toe ducking is not very common is probably because it's slightly harder than clip set ducking, it's always possible to chuck a pixie set in any toe ducking move and very few people hit it so newer players don't have many people to inspire them to hit it.
However butterfly swirls are fairly common - especially recently and dimwalk is a very common move - therefore you would think that a combination of two popular and common moves would also be fairly common - or at least more common than it actually is.

I agree with Nasty Nate.
Just because it isn't represented in the latest online vides, doesn't make it uncommon, just under appreciated due to lack of footage.
J Crook busts Dimwalk swirl all the time, so does Richard Abshire. I see that move at least once if not twice per person everytime we kick.
J also hits swirling pickups everytime he kicks as well.
I hit ducking rakes, but not main stream (pheonix rake) nor eveyday.
I guess we need our camera man back safely from Iraq.

Considering how badass it is, and how many ppl do both Nuke set and double downs, Cold Fusion (Nuclear Down Double Down) is suprisingly uncommon. I think ive only seen 3 ppl attempt/hit it in my experience.
