Oddly enough I had this exact same thought yesterday. I was thinking if you just set it really high, then did the backflip, then clipper it, you're good. I'd say a backflip gets at least 2 ADDs.

I have however seen a frontflip hackysack move. When I was younger, I used to be a...okay I'll just say it a hackyslacking hippie. And we all know what hippies do on April 20th right?

Anyway so here in DC they celebrate 420 on 4th of July. So I'm in one of the Federal parks and everyone's hangin out and dancin and there's music n crap and then I see this like 20 man hack circle. It was pretty crazy, so I walk towards it and see this dude with no shirt on, just like baggy cargo shorts and shoes. The hack comes his way, he does a front flip, and with the soles of his shoes kicks it back into play. It completely blew my mind, especially since I'd just said high to the coach and like I just made a 180 and went back to my friends haha. I definitely could not handle the front flip sole kick.

I've seen a guy hit a toe stall set backflip toe stall and also lap catch. Of course he was a really shit footbagger, and I have no doubt that there are at least a hundred people out there who have never heard the sport called anything other than "hacky sack" who have hit stuff with backflips. Backflip flying clipper perhaps or whatever. To answer the question "when?" - I would guess it first happened at about 20 years ago.

I guess the question you're asking is when will a footbagger of a high skill level start putting in backflips and those kinds of body aerials into their game? I can't answer that.

I think it's important to remember that all the common questions about tricks random strangers ask you are all old ideas that almost everybody have thought of. I often get asked about backflips so I feel very safe in assuming the guy in high school (who was a national break dance champion or something) wasn't the first person to ever do it (that was 2002 for the record).

I dont think he is a hippie but Joel Roset from Spain has long hair and play in Sandals and he can do 3atw and ripsteins pretty easily.

Sorry about off topic.

I don't know what's up with people and backflip footbag tricks. It has been discussed so much and so many people have said they have witnessed it. Why does it have to be mentioned again and again.

Don't complain about other people not doing it. Do it yourself.

im sure if a gymnist took up footbagging for a month or 2. and just got his/her basic stalls down...

They could do tons of crazy footbag ticks.

OR if a veteran shredder took up gymnastics for a couple months...

OH WAIT! *I* did that!!

Also, I can backflip now, I would reckon that I have the best ratio of footbag skills to gymnastics skills of anyone currently playing, so maybe that makes me the best candidate?

I've been wanting to hit this trick forever, I will get it, film it and post it *really* soon.
