ethymology of tricks names

Post by lavix » 25 Apr 2016 09:49

Hi, I posted it on facebook and Kyle wanted to have it here for archival reasons, so I post it here.

Topic is ethymology of tricks names. I will post here screenshot of facebook comments around once a day/2 days.

Do you know any trick name ethymology?

Reason: Moved to the shred symposium forum; discussion is generally not footbag related stuff.

Sweet thread, I've always been interested in some of the names. Some fit really well and others like pixie and fairy make zero sense to me ha.

Request: Where does clipper come from? Seems so basic to me now that I've taken the name for granted, but the etymology isn't apparent to me.

Pretty sweet typo in the headline :)

With "Green Eggs & Ham" we were actually mocking complicated weird-sounding names and tried to think of something absurd. I'm pretty sure Alex Zerbe (might have been Matt Baker) was the Seuss enthusiast who suggested it, and I immediately liked it. I have no regrets

This is a sweet, and nostalgic thread! I would love to see a sort of etymological dictionary of all of these...

it's good idea, but we need to ask some players from '90s, because for example I don't know any trick name ethymology
