Wow, Milan's was wicked hard.
A lot of the cues didn't really make any sense though. I've got no problem with the judging, but I would have given to David by a smidge.

SIIIICK!!!
That Milan's rutine was in a very high level. Nice with the music (not perfect); very, but very very hard tricks in there (janiwalkers, ripstein, stepin whriling swirl... crazy level), and of course dorpless.
Props on Milan, he had the best rutine in this worlds.

I think Milan definitely had the best routine and completely deserved to win. Props to the judges, since it would be hard to get things right when comparing the first and last routine, although, of course, judging should judge each routine in isolation ideally - it's obviously very difficult to actually do that.
My rule of thumb in artistic merit is that you shouldn't guess intentions of competitors and just judge on what you see. With that in mind, Milan's routine appears to have far more choreography than David's. It's also important that you're trying to be objective and judge how they've expressed their footbag skill artistically, not whether or not you personally like the artistic values being expressed. David's music seems a lot less dynamic (although I'm obviously just going off the audio from youtube clips), and that makes good choreography and expression of artistic skill a lot harder.
It was interesting that Milan's routine seemed to be the inverse of routines like Damien G.s 2008 routine, and Nick Landes routine, and have weak choreography in the first half, and much stronger at the end. I would have thought that this was wiser, as people would remember the end more than the start, but the comments about those other routines seem to suggest otherwise, so I don't know. Obviously the best thing is to follow Vasek and have strong and obvious choreography throughout the entire routine (other years more so than this year).

Killer routines from Milan and David. I prefer David's because I think it had an edge, performance-wise and crowd connection-wise, but I can see how Milan's edge on the difficulty would place him higher to the judges. I wish I could have been there to see it go down.
To me, Milan was like a footbagger giving a performance, and David was like a performer using a footbag.
Please, no one take this as disagreeing with the judges; it's more like I'm commenting on how my values are different than theirs, or different than the values weighted by the judging system.
Big props to our guys with the cameras. If worlds video output keeps getting faster at the rate it has in the past few years, I predict that worlds video will actually be released before worlds by 2014.

Both Eric Chang and I independantly ran around asking people who they thought won, David or Milan, right after the routines were finished. I personally thought Milan because of the harder difficulty and equal execution. I thought the performance edge in Clavens routine was not enough to outweigh Milans extra difficulty. I was surprised that everyone thought Clavens was going to get it. Chang said all the people he asked also thought Clavens had it. I thought Milan took it, and the judges did too.
