It's fun to do these. My shred isn't worth editing or recording for long, so this gives me something to look at and analyze.

My 1st One Shot Challenge

Post by bridbeun » 12 May 2011 10:14

I'm 43 so please be gentle, but I'll take any advice I can get. I'll get a better camera angle next time. :/

Hi!
What I can say, firstly try to focus more on the delay, yours is pretty short, try to get lower on your support leg and develop longer and full move with your catching foot.
You did some higher level tricks but without a control it is hard to play longer combos, so focus on basic now to increase your control. Also you should doing some practice clipper drills like

clipper > ss clipper (rpt)
stepping ss clipper > stepping far clipper (rpt)
ducking clipper > diving clipper (rpt)
ss clipper > osis> (rpt)

And simillar to this.

Props on eggbeater midrun, dexes were really nice, you toe set also coud be little longer but this one was nice :)!

Keep shredding!

That was cool Brian! Props

It looked very dynamic! When did you start to freestyle?

Thanks for the input!

I will do my best to slow my toe sets down a bit. I just started doing that on my pixie mirages (I forget the trick name), and it's so much easier. And less tiring.

I'm kind of embarrassed to say when I started since I'm not better than I am. I started playing when I was 14 and I'm 43 now. But I've only really been pushing to get better the last 3-4 years. My problem is finding people to kick with. I post on Craigslist, make footbags and give them away, have my own footbagblog, etc.. I'll kick with and teach anybody but people just don't stick with it. It's a sport that just has to gel with you I suppose. :)

Nice string, Justin. Ken, I love your "fucking weather" string. So funny. Good string though too.

Along with my drilling, I'm going to try to post one of these every couple of weeks. Here's the one I did a few days ago. I wasn't happy with the run I had here, but that's why it's called "One-Shot"... Here ya go. Hopefully next one will be better.

You didn't say it! That's half the fun. Say it next time. And be careful playing on a street with traffic:

You better. I'm scheduling my next ice cream truck driving route in your neighborhood, and I have good ears.

That girl was totally checking you out.

I'm gonna try and start doing these again. I'd like to busk while in Vegas, and it'd help probably.

LOL nice weather session Ken. That's how I feel living on the coast.. Here in another month it's rain until next may... I'll have to record a session. First time even checking this thread out. Nice job everyone! My one shots will be weak I'm sure but hopefully that will improve with some constructive criticism. My runs usually fail due to not slowing down and setting properly. I seem to play like I drive.. like I'm in a hurry..

I find that posting them makes you try harder at them each session. It's nice when you compete in circle comp, and you know you have a history of working at getting consistent runs off a first try. if anything, circle is more forgiving.
