MC Tutorial Video / Request Thread - 5.28.09 *8* new vids!

Post by mc » 02 Mar 2009 18:22

Hi everyone,

I've received a pretty good response to my tutorial videos thus far, and, now that the weather is nicer, I'd like to resume that.

I'm making this thread so that people can tell me what they want to see tutorials on. I will also accept requests for non-tutorial footbag vids (or music, if that's your preference, although I wouldn't post it in this section). I will also post my tutorial videos thus far.

I would also like to make everyone aware that I need some extra help to make it to Worlds in Berlin this year, so please, order those MC bags, and if you like these videos, please consider making a donation via paypal to (matthewcross@gmail.com).

Requesting a video doesn't obligate you to make a donation (then, it wouldn't be a donation!) If you feel like helping me get to Berlin this year, so be it. If you aren't able to help at this time, please, enjoy the videos and enjoy footbag!

On to the videos!

Would you like to create tutorial for Osis?

Hey matt, just wanted to tell you that your 'swirling tutorial' helped me a lot. I obtained mid-time swirls as first ones, then downtime swirls, and had serious problems with swirling set. By showing secret spot and giving tip with pointing toes down, you helped me much, so my first ripstein is dedicated to you ;)

I don't have any requests, however looking forward for more tutorials, keep kicking and making tutorials

If possible , the two things that I really need help with are Whirls and a furious set. I would like to know your thoughts on the motion of a whirl, especially a p whirl. 8)

Thanks, Matt! I like now you distinguished calf and thigh motion.

Couple questions -

I've noticed that DC hops a little on his supporting leg during pixie. Should I do that?

Should stepping set feel like pixie at all? Should you try to dex the bag with the thigh or calf?

Should the foot, for any toe set, be fully flexed with the toes curled up? And should the bag always be under the knee? Basically, should the calf not be perpendicular to the ground?

1. Yes. Ideally, when you're linking from trick to trick, there will always be a little bounce as you go into and come out of a delay.

2. I dex stepping with the thigh, towards the knee. I find it much easier than pixie, and not really similar in feel.

3. I curl my toes up very slightly for my toe catches. Also, I play without toe walls.

Well made Matt. I don't think a tutorial can be really effective without a good verbal part, and you did that really well.

Hey matt, awesome videos, I don't know why more people don't spend time to actually break down and explain tricks like you do! The pixie vid is great and I'm sure the others will be just as good once I can make use of them! 1 request, any chance of a tutorial on ducking?

Should be able to see the bag when you set for stepping? Or should your thigh be in the way?

I totally join this, it's the explanation that does the trick
(well, don't take that too literally  )
anyway, the best tutorial videos i've seen so far and some good sense of humor now and then 8)
