Newb footblog

Post by forgetmenot220 » 01 Mar 2006 19:23

Hey,
I know this isn't the place to be posting a footblog, but it's more of an advertisement for one.
I was reading some of the footblogs on the site and thought it might be a good idea if some newbs got together and started a blog. I searched the site and didn't find one, so I thought I'd start one myself. It would just be a way for newbs (like me :D and possibly you  ) you to post our progress and kinda congratulate eachother. Cuz I know I'm happy to be starting to hit clippers, but that doesn't mean as much to older players as it does to me (and other newbs).
Please post or PM me if you're interested.

Thanks!
Tricia Rodriguez

Please don't get discouraged!! I def. know how you feel, that's why I think this newb blog will be a good idea! I've heard back from you and one other so I'm going to open it tomorrow ( have to be somewhere from 10:30- 1:30 AM).

Keep shredding and we'll keep in touch!

Awesome idea Tricia :) Feel free to keep this thread going, but go ahead and start a newbie footblog in the Footblog section as well. You can link it from here, but we want to keep blogs in the blog section. It would actually be really cool to have a 'Newbie Blog', and IMO it may be a good thing to be stickied. Go ahead and post it, and we'll see if the Mods want to stickie it.

I'd for sure do it. I'm defined as about tiltless. However, I'm kinda outta comission, I just screwed up my knee and ankle last night pretty bad. I tried some goofy flying ATW something just to see how high I could get in the air and still land the trick. well I came down, ankle went sideways, knee went to pavement. But, I'd for sure post in there with you guys.

You won't be a noob before you know it! I started work on my freestyle moves seriously in November and all I could do was a toe stall. I just hit my first 4-ADD last week!

My advice is this:
1) Practice every day
2) Create a normal footblog
3) Spend more time kicking than browsing/posting on the forums

Your progress may seem slow in the interim but if you keep practiving you will be decent before you know it. Progress still feels slow me, but when I look at how far I've come in the last 4 months, WOW. I never thought I'd hit a 4-add after 4 months!

:D hooooold your horses - i play for 1.5 years now, and i still consider
my self a noob !

Footbag is inexhaustible .

What i want to know, dear beginners, is how y'all got into footbag .

There are new people on this forum everyday and i'm hella curious
to find out where this explosion of interest has its origin -
just to make sure you arent any hostile soccer people wanting to infiltrate
the enemy's camp...

I have played soccer all my life and I was always good at playing hack with a soccer ball, but I never got into it with a hackey sack / footbag.. but then one day I was playing with my friends who play every now and then, and I really enjoyed it, so I bought a shitty hack the next day and have been playing a bunch since

I've been circle kicking for eight years, and my friend from Finland introduced me into freestyle quite recently. I'm also happy to say I just landed my first BSOS legover.

Hey Mike, congrats!!!

You should post in the forum...hehe.

But, yeah..yet another shameless plug. I don't know any newbs that kick here and would like to be able to follow the progress of others. PLEASE post in the newb blog in the footblogs page. There's a link furthur up in this page (The blog is called "Attack of the News: We are the Future hear us roar"). I know there are some people who said they were interested, so please please post. I really would LOVE to be able to read what you guys and gals are hitting and how you are progressing.

Post, post, post, post......post

Haha you should keep up both Trish. See which one becomes more popular. I have a feeling that this will become the newb footblog because most newbs are hangin out in Getting Started anyway, and not so much in the blog section.

Just wanted to say, it takes a lot to become 'good' at freestyle. But if you practice and drill every day, you can become guiltless in a year or less. Which rocks. Guiltless shred is the heart and soul of footbag IMO. Have fun guys. And drill that flipside!

It's gonna be the name of my new band! Haha wouldn't that be a cool name though? Anyway, it just means when you play footbag you're doing moves that are all 3adds or higher.

Which just "Guiltless shred" or "What does guiltless shred mean?"

Where does that term come from?

I figured someone would answer this one by now.

Guiltless = strings of all 3-ADD and above tricks.

New competition

Haha, I should! We should start keeping count at wich one gets more posts. :D Actually, I've been kinda surprised at how many people started posting in the newb blog. I just clicked on it today and about a million posts popped up, so yay for that. I probably have you to thank for that, because you kept this post at the top by responding to it.

Oh and you said something about working my flipside. I didn't think I had one until last night - sadly I think I'm starting to develop one on my right side. Yet, surprisingly, the first time I hit mirage was on my right side...so I guess we'll see. When I spotted the weakness I started working it more, so hopefully it doesn't get worse, but only time will tell.

Peace,
Tricia
