I think music is a great motivator for the sport.. I'd like to suggest some bands. TOOL! can we get a hack circle playing at Incubus or Foo Fighters? Primo shred sessions instead of mosh pits

RATATAT PANDORA FTW!!!!
Music is entirely subjective, so it's all up to your personal tastes in regards to what is enjoyable/motivating to kick to. for example, I know a guy out near Pittsburgh, PA who shreds to hardcore metal. I personally prefer more upbeat 4/4 music, some notables being M.I.A. (the album "Kala" is something I listen to SO often during sessions), Daft Punk, Cut Copy, (select) Radiohead, (select) Animal Collective, and some reggae/ska (The Slackers are a fave)
but again, I wouldn't listen to any of the suggestions I made, as my taste in music is most likely drastically different than yours..

Don't be joking about Lionel Richie, man. Lionel was in The Commodores, and NYFA likes the funk. "Pure Funk" was the official NYFA album for a while, and "Brick House" was right in the middle of all that. One of the other guys in The Commodores was named Milan...

BADBADNOTGOOD was my playlist for shredding today. I was a little stressed from school so this helped a lot. Enjoy!

I hella was gonna make a post about this too. Tool is DOPE, but only a select few for kicking. They take too long to build and get some tempo in hella of their songs. RISE AGAINST is amazing. Any reggae or mainly ska is the best in my opinion. Rx Bandits, The SuperVillains, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, those are some cool bands to check out if you don't already know 'em. i'm on the look out for some new tunes to shred too as well.

Yeah Derek, I used to be HEAVY into Ska. I still like it, but I'm not as into it as I used to be. RX Bandits and Streetlight are my favorites to kick to from your list. Arrogant Sons of Bitches and Bomb The Music Industry are some other good Ska bands I've kicked to. I usually kick to some punk, like Bad Brains, old Offspring, NOFX, Misfits, etc...
My bad Nick! Totally never checked back on this. I will have to scope out Arrogant SoB's, Bomb The Music Industry is pretty bad ass! Punk is probably what I shred to the most, fast paced and in your face. My kick mix is a total array of jams, every genre has their tunes that are just perfect for shredding.

Yeah I mess with a lot of ska-punk and reggae, even some first wave ska, like the skatalites. I feel like the rhythm is right for shredding. But like just about everyone else, I mix it up, I'll go from streetlight to some hipster bullshit that I dig. All depends on the vibe I'm running then.

Here's one of my playlists - kid safe, decent to kick to, and it's free. Not sure how long I'll have it up, but I'll do my best to keep it as long as I have the space. Mostly electronic, with some indy and rock. Feel free to download and modify to your tastes.
