NYJ Jyväskylä 10

Post by Tuukka » 19 Aug 2009 08:20

Okay, this is quite early and normally I would send this message to Finnish forum, but I guess most of the Finns read modified more often than proboards, so here it goes:

New Years Jam will be there again. First we have to decide which weekend would be the best. The choices are 1.-3.1.2010 or 8.-10.1.2010.
1.-3. would be good choice since I guess most of you have holidays and such, but on the other hand it is quite close to New year's eve and we really want people to be able to shred hard.

8.-10. could be a bit harder for some people to arrange, but again then everyone has one week time to recover from eating (and maybe drinking?) too much during the Christmas time.

Gimme your opinion!

Btw guests all around the world are also welcome to join this shred fest. Every year this jam brings together the best Finnish players and that should already be quite a good reason to join this party. Good times guaranteed.

UPDATE: The dates are now confirmed. NYJ will be held 1.-3.1.2010

If you make it January 1->3, I will come.

For the love of god, please make it January 1->3. I pray for the day I get to see Anssi's shred shed.

Bought tickets. Couldn't resist the temptation of the glory land, containing Kebab, Unicorns, Kisahalli, Anssi's shed, Anssi's backpack, Toni's symp whirling swirls, Tuukka's puppy dog eyes, Aleksi's double downs, 1/lifetime chance of maybe seeing Felix's shadow as he walks out some store, Finnish Candy, even more Finnish Kebab, Finnish language, snow tires with chains / spikes, Lapland's lack of sunlight, Nokia, "Vittu", walking into a room with BAP dust all over the floor, 15 hour travel times, Sauna, Finnish Idol candidates, maybe even possibly getting to watch Jere film Juho,

This is all, assuming that the dates of the jam are inbetween Jan 1-3...I purchased tickets so that I'd be in Finland from Dec 27->Jan3rd, arriving / leaving the days before and after those dates.

If not, I'm sure that I'll spend a few days in Turku, and hell, I must see Toni and Juho in a circle somehow. Poetic.

Jay, you won't see tires with chains, but spikes a lot. And you'll hear "vittu" a lot.

Great to get replies from abroad. Since Jay is going to be in Finland till 3rd I think we will try to make it happen 1.-3.1. I still would love to hear some opinions from Finns.

1.1. might be a hard day to find a venue since everything seems to be closed then, but 2nd and 3rd shouldn't be a problem.

I'm making I list here of players who might be coming. I will update it when I get confirmations from players.

CONFIRMED:

Tuukka Antikainen
Ville Laakso
Matt Bailey
Jay Boychuk
Janne Pesonen
Tanja Salakka
Anssi Sundberg
Lauri Airinen
Samu Ahola
Oxana Prikhodko
Petteri Petäinen
Toni Pääkkönen
Petri Karvonen
Santeri Karvinen
Juho Marjo
Aleksi Airinen
Kim Berg
Joonas Korhonen
Jussi Lahtinen
Tuomas Riisalo

NOT YET:

Armin Moyad
Ianek Regimbald

Mikko Lepistö
Riku Ahola
Pekka Rautio
Ilkka Malin
Felix Zenger
Lasse Salmenhaara

That would be some 30 players. 25 out of that and I'm more than satisfied :) Also anyone out of that list makes me super happy :)

as one of two international visitors I recommend everyone to check out the new years jam!

the venues and organization were great, I dont have to mention the level of shred and you will never again have the cance to be with so many BAPpers in one sauna!

I am also looking for flights right now!

Tuukka, will there be some sort of accommodation suggested for everyone or should we find it ourselves?

So you are coming to Finland basically straight from NY? Nice.

Jay and Matt great that you bought your tickets already. We work for making this tourney worth of your money :)

For all the Finns please make sure you can make this time too. I know most of you confirm their coming just week before the jam or so, but would be great if we could get some idea who's coming for sure and who isn't a bit earlier so we can think about the accommodation and other program.

From the facebook event description:

New Year's Jam is here again better than ever! Its not so long since the millennium changed and now it is time to welcome a new decade as we move to year 2010. Can you imagine better way to do it than with fellow footbaggers?

Last year we had our first international guest and this year we are welcoming Canada's footbag wizard Jay Boychuk and UK's number one shredder Matt Bailey to join the New Year's circles. Also we are expecting the Finnish top players to show up once again. Thanks for everyone who has ever came here: because of YOU new year's jam has rocked year after year!

More detailed information is coming later, but for now we can say that dates are locked in and you can start making you travelling plans with no worries. Also we try to provide more shred time than last year and also some sideline program.

*************************************************************

UPDATE 1: The venue for Saturday and Sunday will be Kuokkala's Graniitti. We booked the gym for Saturday 11-16 and for Sunday 12-15.

UPDATE 2: Read this carefully! Foreign visitors will have the highest priority when it comes to accommodation. So basically times means that Puistokatu's flat is reserved for them.

Fortunately we have Omenahotel in Jyväskylä (http://www.omenahotels.com/hotelli-jyvaskyla). 4 person room costs 55e/night so staying there is ridiculously cheap, only 13,75e/night/person. The hostel is located right in the middle of the central. Just remember to book your room early enough to make sure that you will get one.
