Thanks for all the thanks. I know a lot of things were bad about the tournament (like me being sick during the first 3 most important days :( ). We really tried to make Worlds better than '03 or any other tournament, it just didn't work out. We had an enormous amount of setbacks. Starting with a change of location only about a month before (Strahov has a brand new grass on the field and we'd have to pay over a million CZK if anything damaged it, sucks) and also troubles with the catering (yes, we planned selection of warm meals including vegetarian) and lots of other things.

Apart from that we suffered a lot from lack of really reliable staff. We had lots of people doing things and helping out (big thanks!!), but since we are not paid and we want to have fun, the reliability wasn't high. Nothing much to do about it, it's a personal issue of all the people involved and I cann't blame anyone. I do the same..

Honestly I think we won't organize any major event any Prague for a while, the mood isn't right. But as usually, we will outsource our know-how for other events and I really look forward to helping with running freestyle anywhere else. I learned a lot of things this year from all the mistakes we did.

So thanks again for the support despite all the cons and downsides. I still don't regret "wasting" so much time in my life on footbag from the organizing side ;)

See you in Berlin, or anywhere else,

Vojta

Just to try to help next years organizers in the part i know quite well : net

You need a stadium where you can paint lines and you can destroy, i know that it's not easy to explain but it's not worst that an american football game or a concert.
You need water in the center of the field, because a water time out is 30 second and it's not made to run to rest rooms.
You need at least 15 nets set, 20 is better and you need people to make the court and to to set the nets before players arrive (5 people is good, but they have to wake up early in the morning).
You need some shadows close to the courts for the time out, big tents or umbrella are ok.
You need to respect the timetable because in net it's not easy to play in the dark !
You need 1 director and at least 2 co directors to manage the games and players.
You need good food close to the event, even if 5 minutes walking is close, we ask to all the players to stay close from the stadium, because if you have to search all the time for players which are in restaurant or supermarket ... you can't keep the timetable.

I don't say that it was not the case in prague but i think this is the minimum to organize a world class event.

If you see more to add feel free to post, it could help next year organizers.

I don't put my opinion about organization because i was part of the euros team this year and i know that organizing a big event is alwawys hard, but i hope that each year we learn more to make next year event better, and i think that ifpa should make a kind of "organizer booklet" with the list of all the things that have to be present in worlds or euros or any big competition and maybe account of that kind of competition should be public to avoid criticism about the way registration fee are used, you have to know that running that kind of event cost a lot in money and time for the crew.
