In Chicago: June 10-16 (ish)
I'll be in Chicago for work for about a week in mid-June. Likely the 10th-16th or so. Yeah, I know I'm missing the Taste of Chicago by a week, but at least I'm getting there for free. Anyway, even though this is well in advance, my trip is 95% for sure gonna happen, so thought I'd give a heads up. I'd love to play some footbag and hang out.
See you in June.

"Yo- Many details to follow, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone has a chance to put this on their calendars: Windy City Cup, Chicago, IL. June 17-19, 2011."
Ken, you should see if you can stick around for this. It is the highest quality net tournament and finals set up of any tourney year-round.
I'll definitely see you in Chicago!

Chicago Blues Festival is June 10 - 12. I was considering planning a trip to see this, and see some other sights (Field Museum, etc,), and freestyle.
Do any of you Chicago people have an opinion on freestyle at the Blues Festival?

Just have to say that I'm very, very excited that so many people are gonna make it out to shred and hang out. Maybe we could even do an informal circle contest if we get enough people?
Mirken: Windy City Cup sounds cool. I'll see if it works with my work plans.
Jon: Blues Festival sounds very cool, and I'm up for other touristy things. I always have trouble doing tourist things during NYJ because of the weather, so being there in summer should be fun. I definitely want to check out blues fest and play there.
We can plan more logistics as we get nearer, but I'm glad people are blocking out dates on their calendars already. Stoked to see everybody again!

I'm sorry to hear that Ken's plans don't include Chicago in June, but I'm still strongly leaning towards a visit approximately one week in length revolving primarily around Blues Fest.
I think its practially a done-deal, but I haven't actually booked a flight or reserved a room.
I'm going to book a room at either the AAE Parthenon Hostel at 310 S. Halsted Street, or the Hostelling Internation Chicago at 24 East Congress Parkway. They both seem pretty close to the Blues Fest, Art Institute, and Field Museum.
I prefer the location of the latter, but they don't have ANY rooms open on Thursday, June 9 (the day I plan to arrive).
Does anybody have any opinion on these places, opinions on these neighborhoods for a tourist on foot, or any other suggestions (or a couch... for an aging freestyler... who snores...)
