Vegas Jizzam 2011 16th-18th

Post by Lycanthrope » 29 Aug 2011 22:38

Ken Somolinos is in Las Vegas area for the next month. I feel like some other footbag players should come out and shred with myself, Ken, Ben Skaggs, and if a certain weekend works out maybe Jeff Overbo could come home from Reno on a certain weekend. In other words, 4 good footbag players are probably gonna be shredding hardcore and maybe we can make a Jam or something out of it if you guys are down. I'm sure we can find some free places to stay. maybe establish small ghettos of footbag players in public parks overnight and cook large cauldrens of food and call it communism. okay, not sure where i'm going with this. I'm sure I can convince my parents to host at least 2 people.

who's down for a jizzam?

actually i didn't even really ask the guys, so i should probably talk to them, and there are a lot of uncertainties, but I figured that I'd at least thought about having something here

This is going to happen. Likely the weekend of September 17-18, though possibly the weekend of the tenth. Working on a venue. I can house up to six players, 2 in bed/couch and 4 on floor. It should cool off some by then too.

Working on venue and prizes. But really, do you need an excuse to come to Vegas? I'll put out a Gatesman special if people say they'll come. I'm looking at you, Seattle/Stanford/Portland.

Not sure on events yet. May run circle depending on how many people come. Probably sick 3/1 as well. Rippin Run.

We got some nice prize bags, some other footbag merchandise, and a little prize money.

Here's the confirmed list so far:

Confirmed list

1. Gatesman
2. Skaggs
3. Overbo
4. Somolinos
5. Steve Fucking Goldberg
6. Bear
7. Dworetzky
8. Mike Green
9. Elvis

Maybe list:
1. Jay Boychuk (Norris)

Looks very likely we'll do Circle comp, and there's a chance we'll do routines too. And of course we'll do a bunch of other stuff like Rippin Run, Sick 1, etc.

Getting stoked!

Casual shred today at UNLV campus. 4:30, at the student union. Call me at 6O7-229-24!7 if you need directions. We're gonna shoot to start comps tomorrow at noon, starting with Circle, and get all comp completely done. Tonight is a free night with nothing scheduled, tomorrow night is part-ay, and Sunday is free shred.

Damn this sounds like the place to be this weekend! Should I attend? It's only gas money to me. Sleeping arrangements at Evans?

Thanks!
Go out and shred already.

Just booked hotel at the Motel 6 Tropicana just 1.1 miles north of the airport. I will arrive with my wife around 12:00 (noon). Should be a fun time!

Also I got a 1080p HD Hero GoPro with a head strap. I will be filming there for a good time! Can't wait!

We will start noon-ish for circle, but if you aren't competing no big deal. You'll probably arrive for finals of circle, and all the other events. Mostly, it'll be fun just shredding. Overbo played today and was killing it. I also hit a new trick! And much paper kicking was done.

My legs are jelly. Super duper fun weekend.

Results in a second, but first, thank you to our awesome sponsors:

 Nucleus, for $100 in prize money, and also merchandise
 Fourkast, for Feet on Fire DVDs and clothing
 Brian Bear, for 2 prize bags
 Waylon Lew, for a prize bag
 Richie Abshire, for a prize bag

It was a small jam, but I think people competed hard, partially because of the sweet prizes. Thank you again.

2. Ben Skaggs
3. Brian Bear

Mirage Race

1. Ken Somolinos
2. Evan Gatesoman

Good work everybody. Thank you to all the people who came from out of town, and thanks again to our generous sponsors. :)

I think Evan won with 26, Ben had something like 21, and Bear was 18 or 19. I ran into a backpack, because I can't do multiple spins and stay in place.

A couple days before comp, I saw Evan hit 38 though.

Evan could hit 20 spinning whirl... so yah lol!

He hits 11 or 12 1st try at NYJ i think haha. Next year everybody hit spinning clipper, Evan hit spinning whirl. More fair.
