Chicago New Year's Jam: December 29-31 2011
Chicago New Year's Jam: December 29-31 2011
Announcing… NYJ 2011
Dec 29-31 (but after a fun New Year's Eve, we'll be doing fun stuff out in Chicago on the day of the 1st, so don't leave too soon.)
Yes, it’s actually happening on New Year’s Eve! The first day will mostly just be people arriving/hanging out. We won’t have the shred room until 6pm, but a lot of us will be at the hotel at the 3pm check in time (if you arrive earlier, the hotel will hold your luggage at no charge). We will have the shred room all day on the 30th-31st. We will even be able to see the fireworks from the party shred room at midnight on New Year's Eve!
*NOTE* This will be at a different venue than previous years. But like previous years, the buildings for the shred room and hotel rooms are connected, so walking to the event won’t be miserable.
Since we will have to pay for the venue, we have to charge people admission of $12 per person total for the shred space. If this is going to prevent you from attending, PM Emily and we'll talk about what you can afford.
The hotel is close to attractions like Navy Pier and the Art Institute, and is within walking distance of a supermarket, a deli, and a coffee shop. It's also close to the Magnificent Mile/Michigan Avenue (restaurants, cool buildings and sights, and shopping), and Millennium Park (which is great on its own, but also has ice skating). We will be planning outings/events as it gets closer to the event.

I know I said friday, but I got a last minute offer from another venue that looks pretty awesome. I will check it in person when I get back on Tuesday.
Yeah there's no festival this year. New mayor (so no more mayor daley sports fest) and budget cuts.
But now we have the control of having a hotel that's actually in an awesome place! heart of downtown. Awesome stuff walking distance. We can also pick the dates (which are 30-31+01 and trying to get some time on the 29th as well). and have a real new years party!

I suppose I'll do a routine this year, or compete in whatever there is to compete.. I hope we do request and the both sides competition too. I enjoy those the most. Yes, that means I'm in no matter what. I haven't been to any jam other than Vegas this year.. Can't wait.
