Symposium Flurry

Post by mc » 29 Dec 2004 08:56

Symposium Flurry
CLIP >> (NO PLANT WHILE) OP IN [BOD][DEX] > SAME IN [DEX] > OP OUT [DEX] > SAME TOE [DEL]

Symposium Flurry- CLIP> (no plant while) OP IN[DEX][SYMP]> (no plant while) SAME IN[DEX]>> OP OUT [DEX]> SAME TOE [DEL]

5 adds.

[ot: What's the jobs for saying both symp dexes are done as one motion? Is there a way of grouping dexes?]

I challenge EVERYONE to hit symp flurry. Jarrett Hutton hit it both sides, and he's been playing for what, a year or two?

It's not as hard as it looks... Stand straight up and don't lean forward at all (leaning forward will throw off your balance and mess you up). For the set, crank your ankle as much as possible. Keep your foot close to the ground and near your support leg. Bend your support leg and set a symp whirl really low. Immediately turn it into a quantum set by pointing your knee outwards, and letting the symposium whirl carry right under you and out in front of you. Hop slightly towards the clipper with the set. When you land the symp barraging set, the bag should be peaking at about your knees or mid-thigh. Then do a legover.

Good builders for this move are:

- uptime, low-set symp whirls

- quantum legover (crispy DLO)

- wonton legover

good luck.

If anyone hits this move because of this trick tip, please post here. It's really gratifying to know I've helped someone learn a move. If you think I've misdescribed how this move should be done, or that it could be described better, or there's just a little something I left out, feel free to add your own thoughts to this thread.

I am going to keep these tips in mind, drill like crazy and then in a few weeks I hope to come back and say "I hit it because of your tips Matt!" like I have so many times before.

We'll see how many people will hit Symposium Flurry before Flurry. I'm relatively close to both, I always find that getting the dex right after the set is so very important, really concentrating on moving your dex leg as soon as you can. Also not setting it too high, because your dexing legs will usually not be able to get around them, ending in batting your bag here and there around a room.

I have almost hit symp flurry. It does seem to be much easier than a regular flurry.

I'll take this as a challenge.

Ive hit it both sides before, so I can't compete, but I CAN backup Matts tips!

However, I would say it would be better to lean in on the move as opposed to leaning back. I think its a general rule though in footbag though, or a trick if you want: Lean over the bag. Keep your body over it.

I think it applies to this move because if you do the move so that you are dexing under your crotch, but much lower, and just SLIGHTY more ahead of you (1-2 inches), the second dex is easier, because after your leg does the "whirling" dex, it has to go forward around the bag in a clockwise direction (assuming its your right leg dexing). Therefore, your leg has les far to travel forward, because you did the set under you. Am I clear on this?

Everything else Matt said is right on! Im going to try it a couple more times next session.

Is there a vid of this move somewhere? Either a single clip of it or if you can point it out in a vid with a timestamp. Just want to get a feel for what it looks like. Thanks!

Peace.
