NZ Footbag Nats '05 - Routines
Hey All,
I'll be posting video of the open routines in here as I can find the time to get them done.
First installment, Johnny Murphy AKA J-Money
**EDIT: I wasn't happy with the original file so I've revised it and uploaded the newer version
Click me if you like footbag
WMV, 4.63 MB!!! (1/3 the size of the original), 2:14 minutes, I'm sure you can figure out the music (if not then I'd suggest you get out from under that rock more often)
I was judging routines so I had to get Adrian's girlfriend (or her friend, one of the two I can't remember) to do the camera work, I think you'll hear me (and everyone else) at some point after johnny hit something sweet, enough from me enjoy ...
comments/feedback/suggestions/blah blah, just do it.

Jonhhy really played well, I enjoyed that!! Thanks!!
but..
What bugs me about this routine is how the music comes from Vasek's rountine that he did on some vid, and how Johhny tries to be like a replica of Ryan with the way he stands and acts. All that was missing was pointing to the DJ
Other then that, perty superb!

That was one damn pimpen routine, thanks.
Figure skaters do that all the time, I don't see why we can't. There are only so many good songs that are exactly 2 min. long.
Just as long as he doesn't develop Ryan's personality...

I agree with andrew, vasek does not own that song and johnny can do his routine to whatever song he wants. It would be weird if two freestylers did their routine to the same song in the same tournament, but I doubt that would happen... but who cares it is the footbag part that matters.
Nice routine Johnny

I believe someone used that same song for their routine at Zocha Jam. No matter how people feel about using 'each others songs', you can't really stop anybody from doing it. Nobody owns the music... well, apart from the musicians maybe!!
I thought this was a very well performed routine. So props to Johnny..

Footbag is not figure skating.
Good routine, and props on that.. but its too hard for me mentally to adjust to your routine when I saw the other one NUMEROUS times on video.
Your style rocks, and you are GOOD at footbag, im not trying to bash you or anything. Do whatever you want, its just my opinion.

Honza. You haven't been on Zocha jam 2003. Vesek plays there to this music fist time. And i think too that he borrow this song from Damian and Abram. They want to play double to this song...

nice, can you really understand what you are reading?? cause I meant that he borrowed it. And I didn't use the word "steal"...Webslinger wrote: I have read it twice and if I have to answer it again...well...let me think....YES!
Anyways, we don't talk about the same song.
edit: even if I'm wrong, I didn't say that he steal it...

Yes, you are talking about the same song.
Hernando's Hideaway is on the Snatch Soundtrack.
The only reason -I- didn't like the song choice is because I've heard it so many times!
I don't care too much about the overlapping between players, but since it's been done already, there are predictable sections in the song for the different trick types. In particular, there's one for ripwalks and other stepping moves.
However, as Johnny said -- the song was chosen for the -people he was performing for-. Not Vasek, not Honza, not anyone at modified (with the exception of the Kiwis who post here). It was chosen, I'm going to assume, for the people in the audience.

That was such a good routine. I must say I am surprised to see that the majority of the posts in this topic was about the choice of song. It's a bit dissappointing, because Johnny put together a well thought out and beautifully executed routine, and should be getting props, not critism about something as minor as his choice of song.
Anyways, props. I really liked the routine. It was evident that you took some time to work it out, and I think it suited your style nicely. Pity about the drops at the end, but meh...

Guys relax. Everyone just needs to settle down and let it go. He said he used it for a demonstration, he said he's not planning on using in a major comp as a routine so whatever. No need to get all hostile. Let us resume chillage in the village.
