I prefer Footbag too... I don't like when this amazing sport is considered as a 'game' like "Hacky Sack"...

In Poland we have similar problem with the term "zos`ka" ...

(I used "`" after s because I can't insert polish character on this poland... originaly it is "s" with dash above it...

This is only very slightly off topic... but I absolutely HATE when people bitch about a flying clipper NOT being called a JESTER.

Its a damn Jester. Yes, the term may have been invented by an old nintendo game. But how cool is that? Thats like part of footbag history - being popularized somewhat by some old friggin nintendo game. It was called a Jester first, so stick with it damn it! Nobody is going to make fun of you as a "hacky sacker" if you "borrow" hacky sack lingo. HECK We borrowed the bag (vaguely), the kicks, other aerial moves, spins, and the toe stall too.

Flying clipper my ass. That's what happens when people try to take their asses too seriously. I understand that it is the technical term for what is going on... but to refuse the shorthand "jester" is absurd. Its in the history dammit... no stoned hippy hackers = no footbag today. Appreciate your roots.

jester jester jester.

(I'd like to see a good argument for replacing a widely recognized name which is 2 syllables, for some obscure esoteric 4 syllable garbage).

In Australia most of the public refer it to Hacky Sack, but i think by saying its footbag it can promote the game more.

I call it Footbag and hackysack is different.

I don't call it hacky, but I don't mind if people do, and I'll explain if they ask about footbag...

I don't really understand what difference it makes calling the sport footbag or hacky sack - we are still doing exactly the same thing whatever it's called. Names are just symbols for their meaning - and to the majority of people "hacky sack" and "footbag" are synonyms.

on the side note - I too call flying clipper "jester" - jester is a way cooler name than flying clipper.

Not only have I heard kids call it "hacky sack", I've heard some kids say, "Hey, let's play SIPA."

I'm thinkin', "Wtf is SIPA? (I know SIPA SIPA is a crocheted footbag), but who actually calls it SIPA? God, I thought 'hacky sack' was bad, but SIPA? IT'S GOD DAMN FOOTBAG!!!

The only reason I don't really like the term "hacky sack" is that people associate it to stoners and such, which would be ok except for I'm not a stoner and it gets anoying when people think I am... I've never even smoked gosh darn it!

i dont like the term hacky sack just bc every one thinks thats kicking the bag, they dont relate hacky sack to stalls. footbag in my school is geting well knowen an the names geting used all tho i dont think alot of ppl know what it is alot of ppl know its something way cooler then just kicking the bag around from what they hear, its really cool haveing ppl come ask u to show them.

I dont mind if people call it hackysack if they appreciate my skill. But when they say it mockingly then it annoys me.
